View Full Version : Future TR Remakes?
Ok, I know there are other threads about remakes, so hopefully this won't get locked/deleted.
I'm just wondering what the chances will be of remakes of TR II, III, TLR, C, and AoD, what with the sucess of Legend and Anniversary(I think). I never got a chance to play the originals. I personally hope that at least a couple if not all the games get remade. I've tried to pick them up and play them, but I just can't do the old controls. Would everyone be mad if the old games got remade, or would you just be happy to get to relive the classics?
I want remakes of TR2 3 and 4, but Crystal will probably butcher the games and Legend-ize them, so I'm not so sure anymore.
It's 2 separate teams makin 'em right? So as TR8 won't get in the way, then the chances are in favour,
TR2 = 80% (MUST HAPPEN?)
tr3 = 20%
TLR = 10% or less
Chr = 0%
AoD = -80% lol (although maybe some of the best level could be redone if there was a 'best of the rest TR' remake). AoD is an interesting one as it would have new controls..mmmm.
2! 2! 2! remake 2! There are so many cool things you could do with that game. Especially on the Maria Doria, you could have rooms suddenly flooding and you have to quickly find a way out before you drown:jmp:!
I'm not particularly bothered about another remake, but I know I'd definately buy it and probably love it. :D
I hope they dont do TR3, I didn't like that game to much, but a TR 2 remake or TRChronicles sounds best to me.

if asking for a remake i think we should get AOD,.. before the rest of the games... it was incomplete and it does need a continuation and a new solution to the whole plot thing,.. a new character kurtis trent, new controls, great gameplay, and a nicely refix storyline... finally the dark game we are waiting for could be done... i really hope they re do that,..
on the other hand having 2 teams leave the open chance to let them start AOD side game meanwhile they finish the legend 2 one,.. and after it they would have already almost 2 years by the time they can sell the aod... if the focus on the 2 teams concept as one working on the game from before the other one was finish., by that time they will be able to sell one game per year... lara croft would be actually the queen of the videogames... really the queen... for existing for over more than 10 years and for even thou having the longest survival career...

If you want remakes because you don't like the old games, it's a pretty stupid reason.
I want Tomb Raider 2 and 3 to be remade, why would AOD need a remake it needs a continuation and a new story to end that story but not a remake of AOD, AoD had pretty good graphics so I dont think it needs a remake it just needs a new game that will continue the story. I just want the first three to be remade because I dont want them to go remake crazy and remake every game. I have faith in them that they will do justice to 2 and 3 in a remake if they make one. I think CD might not want to remake AOD because didnt CORE get fired because of AOD, they could make it better but they may not be ready to remake that just yet.

Crystal needs to be looking forward and developing new titles, not redoing what has already been done. That's not progress.

I'm happy with the TR1 remake as it is. It was for a special occasion- the 10th+ anniversary of TR. I don't want anymore. I wouldn't turn my nose up at them that's for sure, but I think CD should focus their creative energies on making brand new TR games.
I don't think it would be very satisfying for CD to have to redo the work of another company all the time. The teams should focus on making a well made, reasonably long and detailed TR game that really pushes the boundaries of next gen gaming and gives TR fans, both old and new, something original to experience. Maybe on TR's 20th anniversary they can do TR2 or something. :)

There is no chance of them remaking Tomb Raiders 3-6, Crystal Dynamics are not interested in those stories, and the success of the franchise started going down with the release of Tomb Raider 3. They have always expressed interest in remaking the first two games, nothing else and Tomb Raider 2 is only a 50-50 chance they apparently (according to some sources) wanted to remake both for the anniversary, well they only had time for one so they might not do it now.
i want them remaking tomb raider 2. nothing more :)

I agree with this and I haven't even played the originals, I started with Legend.
I like how they redid the first game with this being the 10th year Tomb Raider has been around but I think it would be better to continue with what is happening now to the Legend story line, why keep bringing back the old games when we should keep moving into the future?!

Yeah that's what I heard so far. I really think they should. Who knows - could be a hint from them making the Maria Daria wetsuit costume for Anniversary:D (that could also be meant for only Anniversary since it's 10 years..)

Crystal employees were divided into 2 teams: one to work on Legend 2 and one to work on TRA.

I could be both, they both look the same to me except for the sunglasses and earpeice in chronicles, it probobly was meant to be for both. Its so hard not know wether they will remake one or not I wish they would release information saying that they were or not going to.

You never know unless they make one and you hear what others have to say or you get it and play it personally I think they have learned form their mistakes form Legend and Anniversary. I wouldnt hurt to at least see some of it if they remake it.

Well, they definitely learned from their mistakes in Legend :vlol:. And, I guess you're right, TRA was a huge step from Legend, and CD actually listened to us when making TRA. So, I think they will for possibly a TRII remake :)

As long as they dont go back to their original mistakes from Legend (ie clone mercinaries) and put clons everywhere and add originality to the human enimies I will be happy with the humans in TR2 and at the rate that they are improving in their work with Tomb Raider who knows how good they will be for Legnd 2 and other future TR games I am very happy with Cd's progress.

Those clones were stupid. I think CD all know now that we want the mercs to look different, or at least have like 5 styles of them or something, and make them do more than just say weird things like "HEEELOOOO??" When you are hiding from them, make them get mad when you shoot them, or something/..

I hope that future humans in TR have really good AI, they can hide from Lara after they see her and she can hide from them and make them confused by going through a maze, I hated how no matter how far away you were from humans in past TR's they alwasy found you right away, Please CD Dont make Psychic Cloned Humans.

Well, they did make the animals a lot better, maybe CD is reading this thred right now :) And, it was true, I always wanted the mercs to hide behind things, and crouch and shoot, or maybe get into one of their cars and try to hit her, OR... have great AI dogs come running after Lara when the mercs tell them too, that would be brilliant CD :tmb:

HI CD!!!! (acting in denial thinking they are accually reading this thread, jk) and the dogs when they become enraged (if adrenaline dodge is kept in future games) the could howl and slobber would come out of there mouths like rabid dogs (becasue they are rabided)
tr 2 because is one of the best lara´s adventure... and is the second game
tr 3 because because is the best game of tr, along whit tr2,5, 1' (one line aka anniversary), and 7...
tr 6 because is a great game whit the worst controls i ever seen in my life, the game was to be great and become a unifished game whit a lot of bugs, well a game that is disgusting to play, but have great things, great history, the game have so much good things that you still can enjoy, but is hard to enjoy enough... so tr 6 diserve a second chance! they should make the 2.0 version from this game... for we finnally play it whitout any control problem...
and about tr4 and 5
tr 4 is a crap, just ramake if could change the booring egypt for japan, and make in a lot of DIFFERENT PLACES WHIT DIFERENTS OUTFITS! (argh) in other word dont lost time remaking it..
and tr 5 is good but they should not make a remake of tr5 yet.. the other is what i want now.. maybe they could make a remake of tr5 as some bonus in the next tr game 8 or 9... but a chronicles remake dont have so much sense to realease it so soon... they could make a lot of new histories like chronicles and remake the chronicles things and release separated as some kind of bonus pack or expansion pack or downloadable pack.. or something.. or make some spin of franchise whit the name tomb raider stories... whit a short games every 3 months... or every months and include the tr5 chapters along whit new chapters.. (ey this idea is great! do it eidos do it!)
edit: tr 4 isnot a crap, i just talk like that because is just i remember my days playing it i start to gone crazy and i bite my keyboard and start to become ungry and mad whit the game...
LOL TR 4 was not my favourite for sure. Good graphics and tombs though. Intersting points though I doubt Crystal would do it:( I understand completely as to why not though 'cause it'd take lots of time and they're busy with their new title now.

LOL TR 4 was not my favorite for sure. Good graphics and tombs though.
play tr4 make me very tired, because i hate when is everything the same, tr4 have a lot of fun and great things but they make it hard to enjoy because is so repetitive, boring and stooped.. the plot could be good, but i cant like an tr whit almost 50! levels in the same place... whit the same outfit, and a very, but very very hard game that make you tired... this game **** me off..
i like to play levels like tr3´s nevada, london, tr5´s vci, russia, tr2´s tibets, china, home sweet home.. tr1 (and tr1´ [tr1 line is anniversary]) peru/greece, tr´s 6 all levels (but dont that rpg slow level, i hate slow level.. i like big levels but don't levels that make me go and back a lot of times talk, wait, talk wait...) tr´s 7 nihon, kasaquistain, nepal...
i like tr games whit different kinds of places... whit a lot of different things and events... outfits...
tr4 don't have the house, it really **** me..off.. i cant make any enjoy thing, the game is too serious.. i like to catch a snowmobile and kill some mans whit a great music, try a lot of different weapons and mess around the game... and have fun...
so tr4 don't have anything of that, but have a lot of new good things, and it really make you want to continue the game, and you are trapped in a suffer game.. and play whit out have fun, but it cant let you give up.. you just give up when the game already drained all your powers... that is why i don't like tr4.. this game really destroyed me from inside o.O

CD has remade TRA Because they had a reason for it(to celebrate 10 years of Lara Croft)so sorry to disapoint you but for another remake you will have to wait another 10 years

Also, why do so many of you not want remakes, everyone says that the classics were the best so wouldnt it make sence to make a remake after a few years (not now in about 2-4 years) so we can have remakes and good new adventures so we can get the best of both worlds, as long as they dont go Croft Family Crazy again I will be happy.

my take on remakes and anniversaries...:
id be very happy to see the other games remade... but CD should wait for now and continue with a proper TR8. my dream would be to remake the games as we reach anniversary milestones :D meaning: if we make it to tomb raider's 20th anniversary in another 10 years we get a TR2 remake... and then the 30th anniversary will give us a TR3 remake... and so forth :D until we reach the 60th anniversary to get a TR6 (AOD) remake... i'd say 60 years i a good enough time for CD to stay away from Angel of Darkness, and then pick up that awesome story again :tmb:

The remake (anniversary) Idea was Cores,and they planed to release it exactly on Laras Birthday,(dont know the date I suppose its November) 2006 but their project was canceled,and Crystal Dynamics agreed to continue the project,so anniversary was released in 2007 but it shoud'ev been released in 2006. I understand That you Guys want another remake, as well as I do but it wouldnt be logichal for CD to make another remake so my opinion is that they will probably not make it.( unles they come up with another reason....That would be cool:)

There is a logical reason MONEY!!!!! They have said before that they are interested in remaking another game but they didnt say anything else so its anyones guess is they will or not, I am sure CD knows about the ongoing disscuaions all over the net about Remakes and if they think a lot of people will buy it then they will make one. Remember that making video games is business and they wwill try and get all the money they can from TR games.

It doesnt matter what Core said, they were fired, it matters what CD said and they said they were interested about remaking another game but didnt have the time because they were working on Anniversary and TR8 so it is a possibility that they could make one after TR8 is released.

I love the old TRs too but Core is gone now, it is time to move on and go into Tomb Raider with CD and I like Cd's Tomb Raiders just as much as I liked Core's

I don't think they should do anymore remakes as i think it would be better for them to put their energy into doing more nextgen Tomb raider games, even with all these people talking about doing the next chapter of angel of darkness, who cares! , thats the past, even if crystal dynamics did do the follow up to angel o darkness, then it would be completely different to how we would all imagine it as they would want to put their mark on it which is fair enough.

i posted about this a couple of weeks back. I think venice in number 2 will look awesome with todays graphics. However if they keep doing remakes it might ruin it number was special so deserved one. But i wod really like to see venice with the new graphics

I take the opposite approach. TR2 was good enough that it still stands today (I'd feel the same way about TR1 except for some compatability issues with newer PC's...) TR2 was more complex than TR1 in some areas, and even TR1 got cut down a lot for TRA. A similar remake of TR2 would feel hollow and empty if they cut out all of the side passages and such like they did for TRA. Now that they seem to have learned a lot about TR's atmosphere and adventure from making TRA, I'd like them to put that to use making brand new games :D

Well, that's your opinion and I respect it, but I don't want it stopping CD from making a TR2 remake. I think the original is good too,but it deserves to be remade. Just don't buy it.

they should remake all games into one...
why not anniversary 2 be a remake of tr2, tr3, tr4, tr5 and tr6...
they could release it after tr9... ou after tr10...

I htink he was being serious but that definatly not work for PS2 or Ps3 I wouldnt think and i doubt most people want that much memory (if they would have enough) on their computer to be used up.
TR2 remake... Maybe, but not now, maybe in the next 10th years. ;)

The question is if they DO decide to remake 2 will the fans suddenly start saying PLEASE REMAKE TR3 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! and so on and so forth

I personally hope that at least a couple if not all the games get remade. I've tried to pick them up and play them, but I just can't do the old controls. Would everyone be mad if the old games got remade, or would you just be happy to get to relive the classics?
I think you need to play the origionals to get the most out of them imo. Origional TR 1,2,3 & 4 are a great experience to play. TRA was a good remake, as it meant something, i.e 10 years of TR. But i think if they remade the remainder, it would be purely financial. Not sure I would play them, as I prefer the origionals, well, from TR2-4 anyways.

I don't understand why everyone wants all the original games remade. I think redoing one is enough. TRA was okay, but not nearly as great as the original. Honestly, you should try playing getting used to the original controls...they can be really fun, especially the jumps. Anyway, the original stories and original Lara are so worth it.
I was shocked at how short TRA levels were, especially Tihocans tomb.
