backtrack to where?

happy new year all.
well, i know this is a dumb question-but...
i'm in the AREA 51 part of the NEVADA DESERT
(TRIII). i've walked the rafters (1st time) to the top of the saucer, & picked up the launch code. now the wlkthr says to backtrack & place the code in "the hole in the floor"...but it's not really clear to me where i'm supposed to "BACKTRACK" to...does it mean only to the floor of the saucer room-or back to the room with all the green- laser activated machine guns (& the 2 buttons)-or alla way back & beyond the tram-tracks? i'm not quite sure!
i know this is a dumb question, but could some nice person clue me in? please?

never mind....i got it! but now the doorway on the 2nd rafter trip did not open! why not? do you have an answer to this one? thanx-Flykiller

After launching the big rocket you would have done some climbing & had a few battles. In one of those battles you should have picked up a Code Clearance Disk from one of the bodies. You need to use that at a computer in the autopsy room that lies just off the UFO hangar.
