View Full Version : killing strategy
having in mind that fluffy, charlotte the sea snake, rexy, torso man, and natla all of them needed an strategy to be killed,.. im wondering,... do we want that in future tr???IMO having extra help to kill them its quite a nice add... but,... definitely if im playing just for having fun and no rush,.. i preffer to kill them slowly with my dual pistol and not needing to perfom any kind of rage thing, or ringing any nearby bell...PS... if so,.. please make the enviroment more fluid and less obvious,... it was obvious that rexy needed 3 spikes things to die, and that charlotte needed 4 bell cages... next time place 4 fully operative ones... and some other ones in th horizon... and please let us use them IF we want to,... it was boring after a while not being able to kill those monster on any other way or place.... :(
Ahh, I disagree on everything you are saying. I like how CD is making their games, killing strategies and all. I liked that they had the exciting killing IC's @ Larson, Kid, and Kold. And also, the centaurs, Natla, T-rec and torso were fun aswell.

I totally agree! It made the game more interesting than just shooting the bad guy to pulp.

Yeah, I can't stop playing the IC at the end of Natla's Mine. It was so intense for me. How Kold brutally kills Kid because I guess Lara was KOLDS. And how he held her up against the wall, then Kid shot him right before he died. Then Kid looked at Lara and just let her go.
The first time I watched that I had my mouth dropped:vlol:
I just love her expressions, the hand twitch, the sound effects, and Kids quote "Not so hard now, are ya!?"
And "Girl, you gotta be outta your MIND!"
I watched it again today :)
All of those moves they did, to get away from each other, beats a regular "run around the room and kill them by your self, without a great movie/cutscene/IC" ANYDAY.
Don't get me wrong, I loved TR1, but I LOVE TRA's cutscenes/ICs over that any day.
CD has done a brilliant job this game.
A little better than Legend.
That means that CD has improved! :tmb:
GREAT JOB CD! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CUTSCENE/IC EXCITEMENT IN YOUR FUTURE GAMES!!!!:)
Also:
CD really brought back excitement for this game, since TRL was lacking that, and violence. But TRA had a little of both :)

I like how CD's "killing strategies" are but they should expand on them. It shouldn't be necessary for use to drop cages to kill the snake,it should be an optional way completely up to the player to discover. And the special killing ways should be more unique, subtle, and interesting. Making the torso boss fall off the ledge was good but too linear. I want the entire environment to be used as a weapon against my enemy,if I should so choose.
EDIT: I also liked the use of ICs to kill human enemies,it avoids pitting you against some superman.
I completely agree with U Silver Wolf! There should be different tactics in defeating bosses and not so important enemies. But I doubt they overreach the limit of 2/3. Otherwise with the current requirements or may be a little more above, the game is going to be at least 3/4 DVDs.

I like it when each boss battle is like a puzzle and I need to figure out how to defeat the bosses rather than just shooting away for a ridiculously long period of time. The centaur bosses in particular were very well done. My only issue with these new boss battles is when the camera and/or controls make things very frustrating despite how obvious what I need to do is (I'm thinking of trying to grapple that bell on the back left in the serpent battle in Legend...). I like it when the battle is difficult because I need to figure something out, not when it's difficult just because the game is not cooperating.
they could just make more tham one way to kill but how they are doing is ok...

That is not quite right.
They should really think up more ways than shoot - rage - dodge + shoot, because I was bored of doing that in every single boss-fight of the game. It was tiresome, and repetative.
Impliment it a couple of times- sure, but don't make it a bloody neccessity all the time!

That will cause a lot of mess if there are plenty of blood flowing in the body.:D

Ditto! :tmb:
I really enjoyed the Centaurs fight and the Torso boss was interesting, but I think variety and some level of choice in how you defeat a boss should be implimented for at least a few of the game's big encounters.

the kidd was hilarious. My favorite IC is after The Sanctuary of the Scion. I loved his facial expression when he was shooting at Lara's feet with the Uzis
