15 minutes? wow. Must have done it hundred times and memorize everything (I remember the holy body parts need to be shot but just that:p)

No, they are like day light murder of the game and all things Tomb Raider for me. I love to take my time with this beautiful game.

Well since St Francais Foly took me nearly 2 hours to complete originally im not looking forward to them.

So far i've completed peru except tomb of Qualopec.

I loved them in legend but the lost caves i had to redo a few times to get in time so im not looking forward to the more difficult levels.

The time trials are among the things that take away the magnificence of a level. The levels in Anniversary were made in such a way that the player will be immersed in the atmosphere and level design, and the time trials take away just that. Defeats the purpose of Tomb Raider, IMHO.

But time trials gives you cheats right? Just recently I got *spoiler*gold shotgun and silver uzis by doing TT (don't rememmber which level)

the golden shotgun & silver mini-SMGs are for completing the lost island time-trials

I have completed them all, and those you mentioned where some of the hardest

I don't know if it will help but this is the order I did in the tower
- Poseidon switch
- Hephaestus switch
- Hephaestus door
- Poseidon door
- Atlas switch
- Atlas door
- Damocles switch
- Damocles door

and also at the beginning with the shooting puzzles, memorize or draw the second combination, then restart the time-trial and shoot that combination straight away, I guess you already did that but just in case

I completed St. Francis Folly's time trial on my second attempt in 31.30 minutes. I think they give you 34 minutes to complete it which really is alot of time if you have a plan where you need to go and don't stand around wasting seconds figuring out your next jump plan.

As for the Atlantis levels, I did the Great Pyramid time trial once, got frustrated with the 3rd jump and abandoned it for the Eqypt ones. I did complete the other 2 Atlantis levels though, and have yet to complete any one Egypt level on a time trial, and I started attempting them 4 days ago I haven't tried Sanctuary yet but the traps in the obelisk have been thwarting me.

Obelisk of Khamoon speedy... might help someone...:
Part1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb640IadtWg)
Part2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNTz4kgtnJU)

Once you've experienced all the atmosphere that TRA has to offer in the first/second time playthrough, time trials are excellent ways of revisiting the hard parts but in a way that forces you to do them quickly, increasing your knowledge of the game, its replayability and rewarding you as you do so. I think they're great.

Not a chance in hell am i gonna do the time trails :) did some in legend but it destroys the game and the small cheats you get from that aint worth it. I never use walktroughs for games or cheat codes, but ive completed both tomb raider games, so if there is something im missing then ill just find a save 100% so i can try all the things in the game. Time trails are just not fun, and i only play games for fun.

28-06-07, 14:34
Yes, and it´s quite fun! :) I loved each time trial, even the one of St.Francis Folly (knowing the star codes without looking at the walls and jumping where you may not be supposed to jump is the way to victory in that level).

28-06-07, 14:35
Lovely run on the Obelisk there! (I've got below 10 mins on it, muahaha :p) But why did you trigger the blades?

CannibalK9
28-06-07, 15:18
Oh, thought blades had to be triggered. Ahh! That takes away one of the best jumps! I guess I know where the key to sub-10 lies now, just need to work out how to bypass them... can you drop to the ground there somehow and climb back up? Monsters will get in the way twice as much though... did you do yours on hard too? Doesn't make that much difference but one more hit and I would've died...

Babes,

Here's how I'm doing it...

1st Run

Complete the game collecting as many secrets as possible.

2nd Run

Replay the levels in order, only attempting the trial trial after all the secrets have been found. Then onto the next level...

I'm now replaying the Tomb of Tihocan.

Hardest time trial for me so far? I'd say St Francis Folly.

Finished with peru & greece - st.francis folly on 3rd attempt & possible if diving off things alot (1st time ran out of time just as she was putting in last key - almost went into therapy for that one!).Started on Egypt & completed obelisk with nifty shortcut (spoiler ** - if you have pulled switch to drop third bridge i.e. after the wall run section; instead of going back down just swan dive off into the water & swim to side that you entered level on - there is a ladder to the level of the bridges, go up then jump to left bridge & proceed. It cuts about 2 minutes off the time):)

slushie31
28-06-07, 18:08
The way I did / am doing it is I played through the whole game first, and then am playing each section (Peru, Greece, etc.) one at a time, first on Normal with the commentaries (and learning the level better so I can do it quickly), and then a second time on Time Trial. I've gotten through Peru, Greece and Egypt's time trials, and am now onto Atlantis. The only level I've failed the time trial on so far was Obelisk, but I got it on the second go ;)

28-06-07, 18:38
I didn't think I would enjoy the time trials but oddly I am. I am noticing different ways of doing things and things I'd actually missed while taking my time.

Once I have finished them I'm playing through the game again with the commentaries, and them probably playing through again because I love it!

I've only done the time trials for the manor, Peru, and the Lost Island. Do you get anything for completing *all* time trials, besides the cheats that each location unlocks?

1st Run

Complete the game collecting as many secrets as possible.

2nd Run

Replay the levels in order, only attempting the trial trial after all the secrets have been found. Then onto the next level...

That was pretty much my plan, as well. Though I only managed to find one relic the first time through. It was helpful playing each level leisurely, searching for the secrets, before attempting the time trial, as it refamiliarized myself with the level and gave me a chance to formulate a strategy.

As for the time trials, only a few gave me some real trouble. I finished St. Francis' Folly on my second try, I think (Damocles' room was nervous for me). Palace Midas had me chewing my brains out, though, as I slipped on the fire obstacle a couple times and ended up beating the level with 1 second on the clock! Thank god that ending animation wasn't a second longer or I'd have flipped!

Obelisk of Khamoon probably gave me the worst trouble, as it took me some time to formulate an efficient strategy...that, and the traps kept screwing me over. I spent over a minute one time repeating a trap with unavoidable failure just because Lara refused to perch on that pole. I'm not sure, but I think I discovered that it's impossible to land on a pole with a slamming wall unless you jump *after* the slamming wall has completely retracted. That seemed to help. The really ironic thing is, after discovering a shortcut that allowed me to bypass one of the traps entirely (which also happened to be my least favorite one), I ended up unintentionally falling from the top of the main Obelisk room at the wrong time, and had to go through that trap anyway, just to make up for my slip. Luckily, I managed to beat the time trial on that try, though.

Sanctuary of the Scion wasn't so bad, except that every once in awhile when I'm coming out of one of the side rooms off the main Sphinx chamber, to the front of the Sphinx where the centaur/s attack, the game crashes for some reason. That happened once while I was on a time trial, after coming out of the second side room (so I was at least halfway through the level), and that really annoyed me.

Natla's Mines tripped me up a bit, mostly from that part where you gotta climb up outta the ditch after grabbing the last fuse. I kept screwing it up.

I thought the Atlantis levels would give me a lot of trouble, but to my surprise, I think I managed to beat both of them in a single go each. Maybe I was just getting really good at rushing Lara by that point! :p

Yeah... there's a shortcut in the Poseidon room that cuts off the entire puzzle, and you can jump into small alcoves in the main hall to get to the levers quicker - it's mainly about knowing where you're going. :)

How the heck did you get the Obelisk in that short of time? That seems impossible! I have been trying to get that time trial forever but still come up a minute or so short. any tips or how did you get it so fast.

The only one I have done are Caves, Vilcambamba, SFF (easier than it looks), TOT

There's a video of the Obelisk on YouTube with 10:05 on it, and I have a shortcut not used there. It's in the room with the 3 mummies at the bottom. You can get into the doorway to the corridor leading to the lever straight from the top.

They turned to be a lot easier then I thought - and I fed up playing so I will do the 3rd one later :D So I will have unlimited health for atlantis!!!!! :D :D :D Nd after atlantis I do greece But i wont use the golden shotgun on the centaurs BECAUSE I CAN SHOW THEM WHO'S BOSS WITHOUT IT!!!!!!!

I agree with that sentiment! :p I just don't feel like rushing like that. Unfortunatly there aren't any gameshark codes for us PS2 players yet to buzz thru the levels faster... :( I really don't enjoy TT's and just want them to be over with so I have unlocked everything in the game. Sanctuary of the scion I think you need to use a shortcut as it's a bit hard without it. Try the shortcut that gets you inside the sphinx without either one of the ankhs. Watch the video on myoutube about the shortcut. Folly when you first get to the room with the diamonds step on the plate and shoot the following 4 the 2 feet the belly button and the hand. Also watch silver ragout's video on youtube. You will see that the player took the short route to the switch by jumping from the center of the room on a platform. You should do the following order: 1.Poseidon switch 2. hephaestus switch
3.Hephaestus door 4. damocles switch 5. atlas witch 6.poseidon door 7. atlas door 8.damocles door.
