due to an enormous sense of intrigue, i discovered the meaning of the little horned disk ornaments commonly found in levels throughout egypt.
if i had a picture of it i would show you, but alas, i do not.
regardless, the symbol, usually interpreted as a sun disk between two bovine horns, can be depicted as a symbol commonly used by the egyptian goddess Hathor, who was known to be a cow goddess. under extensive research, i have determined that Hathor has absolutely nothing to do with the game or the storyline, however it does add a realistic amount of egyptian theme to the setting.
Do you want to say you know all the hieroglyphs?
Or the textures must contain only things connected to the game storyline?

if i knew all the heiroglyphs then i would be able to translate for the public.
however i'm still trying to teach myself that.:)
i'm saying that i'm a tadbit confused with all the irrelevancy going on...
i must say that after all this research and whatnot i was a tad bit let down to find out that this icon used throughout the game only represented a bovine goddess...
perhaps, though, the goddess represented more than just fruitful reproduction... off to more research! :pi:

That was mean and impolite.

EDIT: A few minutes ago, I noticed that Stella's walkthrough for each of the Khamoon levels has a note at the end pointing out that the )O( symbol is sacred to Hathor. A large example of the symbol is prominently displayed on a high ledge.
EDIT2: Post #19 of this thread has a picture of the symbol from the last paragraph:

And from Lost Artifact, Lara discovers the lost temple of Hathor:

thanks for the input!
i do notice that in most levels in egypt the hathor symbols can be found in places that are high off the ground, such as in obelisk of khamoon where it is found in the highest point in the level.
as for references to the cow goddess...
CROFT DISCOVERS EGYPTIAN RELICS Ciaro[sic] (AAPX) England's Lara Croft, once again, discovers what was assumed to be lost artifacts. In a surprise announcement, the English Museum of Natural History revealed that Croft's efforts found what was thought to be lost relics from the Temple of Hathor. The items recovered proved to be never before seen icons of the Goddess Hathor. Hathor, the protector of women and lovers, was thought to be a Goddess without a temple. But due to the efforts of Ms. Croft, the Temple of Hathor was discovered intact.
it seems that the symbols do tie into the game as well as lara's life, just later on.
thanks for the help, rr_carrol!
Egypt is littered with statues, and ornaments both large and small of gods and myths. They probably just took photos of Egypt from research, saw The symbol of Hathor and thought, "You'll do". The reason why it is used so much is because it is a 10 year old game and they use the same model a lot, unlike these days where they must spend half the project making little things no one cares about instead of focusing on the main objective and releasing the game on time and with good game play. *breathes*
Anway it is nice to see you are interested in researching what you see though. People who want to learn new things are rare these days.
