View Full Version : My sketch finally transform to photoshop

This is my first photoshop from inking to coloring so be gentle:p

1. First, I sketch my drawing with a pencil.
I don't like using pen, because when I loose concentration,
it'll ruin my whole drawing.

2. Then I scanned and edited it in photoshop cs2.

3. I tried using the pen and add anchor point tool. But it was
so hard! When I wanted to make a curve,
it'll end up in weird angles:hea:

4. So I used Grayscale from Image > Mode > Grayscale,
then adjusted the levels(from image>adjustment>levels)
to get the black and White apart from the gray of pencil marks
I drew.

5. Later on, I added colors using the Paint Bucket tool.

6. I added some shading using the Burn tool to have darker tones
in my drawing. I just whirl some white color on the brush and then
use a Smudge tool to create the clouds:)

7. Finally I added the Sharpen from Filter. Now it looks like
a cartoon straight out from a tv. I might not used this too often, the picture looks too crispy and flaky imo.

One of Angel_14's photoshop tutorial (my little photoshop bible aside from the guidebook)
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/9237/38971514sf9.th.png (http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?image=38971514sf9.png)

I need advice on how to

1. Be an expert using the pen and add anchor point tool, as you can see
I have problems with it. My method is short BUT I can see the lines
aren't very smooth. (See Angel_14's drawings) So please help me.

2. And how can I bloody make a sunshine? All I can find out from the
guidebook is lighting and glow, but it's not sunshine effect. I want to
make that sunshine light effect :o

Help is greatly appreciated.

Ok with the anchor and pen tool , its simple after a few tries, what i suggest for a black outline is in the toolbar bar >windows>brushes set you brush tip shape to the angled one at the bottom, set it to a size 5, on your options hit fade, so it will create a lovley soft line. Now with the anchor and pen tool just draw along the line you are working on placing points (straight line) then at each point where there is a curve click on that point and hold ctrl then turn it the way you want it to go and it will sit nicley wherever u placed it and if you want to move the whole line press ctrl hope this helps ill try and do a visual one for you

Example: This is on of mine done like that...

Ok here we go....

Stage one.. i marked out the pen tool and the window(click that and drop down to brushes )

Ok.... NOw put these settings ....

Draw you line where you are working using as many points as you see fit to use, generally where there is a chnage in direction even if only slight......

Now press CTRL on the point you want to curve, the arrow should chnage to a white one now while holding CTRL down drg it to where you want it to be, you made need to drag several points surronding it to make it a clean curve.....

Once you got it where you want it just right click on your mouse hit stroke path and when the next option comes up hit brush and voila....

Just one last thing before you start ANY of the above make sure that this option is selected in the toolbar at the top on the pen tool menu...

For the sunshine, first of all make sure you have the light travelling in the right direction so it goes well with your shading...
Then using the selection draw a rectangular shape on a new layer and roate so it looks like neam/ray of light then feel with a gradient tool of sunshine colours, then on the layer chnage the opacicty so it blends in with the picture and repeat till happy, and if its just a sun u want do the same procudre but use a circle and have the gradient set from the middle then just place on a new layer a circle shape slighly smaller over the top of that so it looks hot

That's great! The reason why the lines might not be smooth - did you use the paint bucket tool on the same layer as the lined drawing? It looks a bit like it, but I could be mistaken. If so then use a different layer for colour and set the lined drawing layer to 'multiply'. ;)
