Hi all,
I was playing this game without any problem on my old system: P2 450, Matrox Millennium G200 8 MB, Windows 98, SB Live! Value.
Since then, I have upgraded my comp a little bit with new P3 600 Mhz, Geforce 2 GTS, more RAM and now I can't run the game any more.
As soon as I start the game, I got "This program has performed an illigal operation..." message and I have nothing to do but click "Close"!!!
This never happened with my old system. It sometimes happens on my girl friend machine with the ATI Expert 98 card....
Somebody has similar configuration with my machine here? Do you have similar problem?
Can someone help me please.. I have only one more level to finish.
Trung.

BaTrung. ok, first off, download the latest drivers for your card (assuming you also reinstalled windows with your upgrade, you're probably using old windows cab drivers)

Also make sure you are using DirectX 6.0a (install the version from the TR3 CD)

I already tried different drivers for my card. The thing is that I'm using DirectX 7a, can't go back to Dx 6. TR3 won't run with DirectX 7?

theoretically it should yes, but chronicles for example sometimes flounders when running DX8.

How do you have the game set up on options (what's ticked) ?

I can't even run the setup. I got that message as soon as I choose to play "Tomb Raider III" or "Tomb Raider III-Setup" from the program group.
"The Last Revealation" is working pefrectly.
Tried on Windows 2000 with no luck.

ok.

win2k: run game in windowed mode nothing above 16bit. this works.

win98: please post the diagnostic message delivered to your screen upon being notified of "Illegal Argument" (press details, and then copy and post to this thread.

Thanks.

It doesn't run at all on Windows 2000. I can't remember exactly what the message was.

Here is the error message I got when trying to run under Windows 98:

"TOMB3 caused an invalid page fault in
module TOMB3.EXE at 015f:006ff076.
