Is this ¨computer¨ (Laptop) good?

I'm sorry for making this thread. But I have been searching for some laptops. And I found a pretty cheap. (Not cheap but cheaper then manu others).

So I was thinking of buying it. But I don't want to make the mistake to buy a bad laptop. Here are the ¨things¨ (This is directly translated from Swedish to english so these might be wrong words:

The way you build levels for TRLE. Isn't the bug for this laptop.
Processer is like pentium 2 or celeron.
80GB is fine if you are not like making big files.
the ram is good.
Graphics is bad. It's xpress. One member on this forum steve bax had this.
He failed passing TRLegend in minum and it was a 512mb;) matter in fact he had the same processer and GC as this laptop;)

Kill Bill, standard laptops are integrated.. There aren't many that aren't integrated (gaming laptops aren't AFAIK). There is nothing wrong with integrated as long as you aren't expecting to play high end games on it.

You don't even know what Betal is using it for, so stop assuming she wants to game on it.

Yeah, that laptop should be able to run RCT3 but you wont be able to have all the full features and 'eye candy'.

It kinda sucks to buy a laptop and then have to shell out another hundred bucks for XP though.

I'd say you should use it as it is, and if you hate it, then install xp.

Now if you already have an available copy of XP to legally install on it, that's a different story.

I would still leave Vista on it though. XP will be phased out, and Vista support and performance will continue to improve. It's forsure worth a shot since it comes preinstalled on that laptop.

. Sorry for duble post. On komplett.se it says this graphic card have max 512 MB video ram. But it says I only have 128. Is it possible to fix this?


And another thing. I got Windows vista preinstalled without a CD. So how do I install windows XP now?

Ok I'm done now. but for some reason drive E also got formatted. so now I have 2 widows xp installed on the computer. both on C and E.

So I have some problems:

I can get internet to work. It just pops up: Can't show website

And I tried install a game. when I want to run it it says that I need to install directx 9. So I do it from the CD but I still get that massege.

And is it possible to uninstall XP from E drive?

Betal, run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report for me to know the problem better.

1. You can simply reformat E: drive from your working XP.

2. To connect to Internet w/o problems go to Control panel > Administrative tools > Services and disable completely Internet Connection Firewall (Windows Firewall) service, then reboot.

It seems to me that your laptop had dual boot Vista+XP lately. You have reformatted drive C: and installed XP. So XP on drive E: is not active anymore, try simply to delete E:\Windows folder.
To check if both XPs are active press F8 at boot to show OS Choice Menu. If both XPs are there then report here.

Everytime I start the laptop I can choose between two windows xp professional. So I guess both are activated? And since internet doesn't work I can't post diagnose.exe. I use dads computer now.

But if I delete the windows folder and then format E:. Won't it install XP again? It does everytime I formatted my old computer. Or how can I format it without install XP directly after?

You must have the driver CD with your laptop. So install Motherboard drivers (sound, network, onboard video, etc).

I didn't get a CD with it. But I saw that I can download it from HP's homepage. But now the question is how to get it to the laptop. I tried disabling the firewall but that doesn't help.

To connect you need to install network card drivers first. So get to HP support from desktop PC, download nesessary drivers and then install them on your laptop. Then you can connect it to Internet.

I'm on my laptop now. I burned the driveroutins on a CD and installed them here. Now internet works.
