Something tells me this won't ring a bell with most people, but I can't help but wonder: Does anyone here like Drum 'n Bass music? How about breakbeat? Trip hop?

If you don't know what DnB is, it's extremely fast/sped up/trippy drum beats with a bass line running under it, usually played at dance clubs. I think it originated in London about 10 years ago. If you haven't heard what this sounds like, I strongly encourage it.. it's amazing.

They used to play drum n bass stuff on Toonami (cartoon network) all the time.. Don't know if they still do or not, but they released a "Deep Space Bass" album several years ago that I listen to religiously now. :D Also, I bought a DnB sampler package a few days ago (for Logic Express) and have been toying around with this genre.

DnB is so freaking cool omg

I've heard of DnB, yet have not actually heard any of it. :whi:

I love dnb... listening to di.fm's dnb radio right now in fact. I prefer the jazzier, liquid dnb to the harder styles though.

All time favourite artist - Goldie. His album Timeless is one of the best in dnb that's ever been created. :D
Other good ones - LTJ Bukem, Atlantiq, Pendulum, Concorde Dawn, Influx UK, Photek, D Bridge, Black Sun Empire, Klute, Logistics, High Contrast, Calyx...

I kinda like d'n'b.. But I really have to be in the mood for it to enjoy it.

Cool! I'm new to the genre, so I'll check some of those artists out (especially Goldie)

That's understandable. :p

Do you live in the UK? On BBC Radio 1 every Friday night, from 12PM til 2AM, there's a great drum & bass show. I've been listening to it for years... It's DJ'd by Fabio and Grooverider, alternating weekly - Fabio focuses on liquid/jazzy stuff, Grooverider goes for heavier funky stuff. I think it's Fabio's turn this week. They're very well known & well respected DJs. Check it out. :D

Affinity and Illistrate 5-12-05 (http://www.liquiddnb.com/downloads/mix-sets/index.php?file=Affinity_and_Illistrate_5-12-05.mp3) is absolutely delicious. If you want to hear what liquid dnb is, this is a perfect example of it. Well worth the download.

I'm very new to it. But pendulum has instantly become one of my favorite bands...so listen to Geck-o-Lizard. I did haha, and Pendulum is amazing. I have a question though...

Is Pendulum considered harder? Or more liquid? I can't download the file cause its too big...:/ I know they use a lot of jungle...

Pendulum is all over the scale... they've done stuff in just about every aspect of dnb there is. That's why I like them; every song is unique. More popular artists like Dieselboy are generally liked because almost every track is just like the one before it; people hear one song and love it, and want to hear more of the same, and the music never evolves.

Which Pendulum tracks were your favourites?

I love Hold Your Colour the most. But I really like Slam, Streamline, Coma, and Fasten Your Seatbelts. Blood Sugar is awesome too haha, and Insecurity. So many...

And I completely agree that most of the songs are completely different. Some are similar, like Hold Your Color and Streamline, but they're different enough that I like both for different reasons.

They use great soundbites too...like the Willy Wonka song and the guy in Slam...I really don't know where that's from, but I've heard it somewhere...

they're amazing. :)

Yeah. The Wonka soundbite is brilliant. :D

Hmm... trying to think of just a couple artists that would interest you if those are your favourite Pendulum tracks.

Have you tried Logistics yet? They're quite smooth and jazzy, funky too, but without blasting your ears off.

Klute's a bit harder and rougher, with less vocals than a lot of other dnb stuff. Still quite melodic.

Black Sun Empire - much harder and more electronic than the above. Quite dark too. The band's name is great... it sounds dark and sci-fi, and that's exactly how the music sounds.

Concorde Dawn - another one with a lot of variety. Some soft, smooth tracks, some rough, intense, hard-edged ones. Quite a lot of use of vocals.

Sweet. I'll definately be looking into those. Honestly I haven't been able to get anything I've been getting so much Pendulum. But now that I've pretty much got ALL of their stuff...lol.

Thanx!

I'm diggin this, dude. :D Jazzier or lighter than the harder DnB stuff I've been listening to, but a change of pace is nice -- I like it.
