HDTV - Does anyone else view HD? I think it's fantastic. :tmb: I've downloaded a few huge (10GB) concerts in HD and I must say the quality is excellent. Also, went into Currys yesterday to view the HD tvs and they're amazing.

We're going to purchase the 32" Sony Bravia TV soon. In the next week. :) It's capable up to 720p - the highest is 1080p. And, I cannot wait to watch BBC HD which has Planet Earth, Heroes.

I quite dissapointed that the UK doesn't have that many channels in HD. I know Sky HD has Sky one HD, Sky sports Hd and Sky Movies HD. That's pretty much it. We've got Virgin:Media so, theres only 1 HD channel. But, in On Demand theres loads of movies to pick in HD.

Does anyone else here have an HDTV? Tell us about your experiences please! :p

What TV do you have? :)

Yup, its really is so much better.
From what I've seen, sharper & clearer images, no bleeding at edges. Just better resolution obviously.

Far superior to normal TV, I doubt I'll ever go back.

Umm, I can't remember. I know it is a Sony one, and it is a screen rather than a TV so the sound system is seperate, plasma screen, we've had it for a couple of years now. It's a 42", but I've only ever seen ones of the same type at conferences.

Edit - Having googled and found it, it appears to be a Sony PFM 42B2

I have a HDTV as well.. it's awesome. It goes up to 720p/1080i. Dunno which one is better, I figured the 1080i, but I could be wrong :p.

The tv I have is a samsung, this one:

Mine is 32" and cost 1000,-. But it was definitely worth the money.

720p is better for fast moving images (like video games) while 1080i is better for still(er) images. I've got the same HDTV as you LegenDarY :D. We have good taste! The picture quality is brilliant and the sound is good (but watching the MS E3 Show from XBL was awful with the sound - it was so quiet - which is why I wish the 360 had a sound adjustment thing like the PS3).

My (older) 55" Mitsubishi does 1080i and not 720p... still it's flawless, video-game-wise. It's the only way to watch sports too. I LOVE IT! I am planning on getting a Home Theater Projector either this holiday season or next spring... then I can play and view in gigantic size!

The concerts I've got in HD are :

Britney Spears - Live from Miami.ts (Which is 9.32GB)
Madonna - Confessions Tour.ts (Which is 9.72GB)

They're both in HD, 5.1 surround sound. Awesome quality and both in the file name of '.ts'.

I'll post screenshots of them in HD. ;)

I've got an HD tv as well, but don't have any of the Sky HD channels as there are too few for me to justify the additional cost of the decoder and monthly fee.

So far, I've only played games in HD (both 360 and PS3) and the difference is unbelievable :D

Yeah, the cool thing is you can stream WMVHD to your Xbox 360 to view HD videos from your computer which I'll def going to do. But, it takes way to long to convert. So, I'm planning on getting MCE which you can download something called 'HDTVPump' which can pump .ts files to your 360. :D

I should be getting a High-Def TV sometime soon. :jmp:
I'm assuming it is HD, it does say HD Ready.
I'd love to watch boxing in HD, but I think I'd have to get a Sky HD box for that. May as well wait for more channels to go HD, so I'm not bothered about Sky HD for the time being.

That's how I see it. Not much sense in my mind to go HD when the most that we have over here is about 30 channels. I'd wait till at least 30-40% of all programming.

I have an AOC (not well known brand) 32" 1080i LCD HD TV. It cost me £399 last February. The quality is amazing, better than some well known brands at higher prices that I have seen.

I do not have any HD TV subscriptions at present, I only use the HD capability for my Xbox 360. I am thinking of getting the HD-DVD add on for it.

Although I may wait for a reasonable priced Blu-Ray / HD-DVD combo player.

1080p is better than 1080i

i means interlaced which means it writes to one line and skips the next, meaning it only writes to half of the screen at any one moment in time.

p means progressive which means it writes to every line at any moment in time. So in theroy you are getting double the resolution than i, giving you cleaner crisper image
