As best as your memory will serve you, what's the first videogame you can recall playing?

I'm actually certain the first game I ever played was Batman on the Spectrum. The only task seemed to be going around the place collecting his equipment and uhh..that's was about it? I'm sure I never finished it as well it taking 15 mins to load.

I remember when it was first delivered to the bowling alley and placed next to my favorite pinball machine. My friends and I laughed out loud at this wood paneled contraption and discussed how this new thing was going to soon disappear as a passing fad. How wrong we were...

I was a HS freshman at the time, and although initially I dismissed this thingamajig as ludicrous, I eventually played it and soon my friends and I were hooked. And over the ensuing years I went through all of the new ones from Space Invaders to the great Zaxxon, and then got my first computer and that was that.

Other than arcade games (of which I have no idea what was the first), my first game was Sonic Spinball on the Sega Genesis. I freaking loved that game.

Oh God, it would've been on our old BBC Micro (remember them?), so it was probably something we typed out from a magazine, so names elude me.

A title I definitely remember from back then is Airwolf, a very primitive game thinking back, lol.

Argh.. I can't remember the first one I played. But it was on AMIGA ages ago! Either this rally game where you could have the camera inside the rally car or some tank wars game. I seriously can't remember. But I have some good memories of playing them with my dad :)

Same here.

1st 'proper' computer game was on the Commodore 16 (they were the days) it was either Punch & Judy or that Plane Game when you had to bomb the towers to land, or Parachute, where you were manning a gun shooting all the men with parachutes (all around the same time on my memories)

The first arcade game was a table top version of Space Invaders in a local pub one summer when I was around 5 or 6 :D

Me too. It was in our common room at school.

The first arcade game I played was Space invaders. Didn't like it much...too tedious.

The first console game (Atari 2600) was Q*Bert. Now that was a classic! :D

An early game as well:

And finally:

I just find him creepy and gross. All of the art work I have seen fron him seems too whacked for me and I am a pretty open minded guy. It falls under the category that also houses squash. I just can't eat squash.

I know Aliens was somewhat based on some of his work, at least I think was. But that seemes to be the extent of what I can take.

It was probably the original 'Sonic' on a PC emulator, and later 'Sonic 2' and 'Sonic 3K'. :ton:

Another game I remember playing at a very early stage is 'Bobble Bobble'. :D That's right. 'Bobble Bobble'. I'll type it once more so that you know it definitely wasn't a typo.

There were several versions of 'Bubble Bobble'. 'Bobble Bobble' is the one I had. It's basically just 'Bubble Bobble' but badly translated. :ton: It had some pretty funny translation errors in it, such as when you pop a bubble it says 'pon'. :D

My bro-in-law, a real electronics geek, managed to get one before most had even heard of it. I was absolutely amazed that you could play a game on the tv, then watch the tv later as normal. This was way before VCRs, so thinking out of the box truly muddled my young, tender mind :p
