In the next 10 years I want to look back at tomb raiders catalog and see an eclectic variety of games. Like Mario, Eidos should explore new territories with each episode, trying something completely new than the last. Classic tomb raider gameplay is simple and will always be fun to play, but each game should be an entirely new experience. Every game should have its own artistic style and theme so that its distinguishable among the rest. I want to see Lara in space, Lara as an undercover detective, Lara takes on an a corrupt government, Lara the humanitarian, a cartoony cell shaded tomb raider, a realistic tomb raider, a rated M tomb raider, Lara moves to the Bronx, a game where lara has some kind of magical powers, lara time travels. Of course there will be more to this change than cosmetics and gimmicks. As long as every once in a while they release a classic tomb raider game with improved classic gameplay. I just dont want to see another tomb raider 2-5 happen again.
I think core finally got the right idea when they gave us something brand new that we've never seen before. AOD sold well so it shows that people are willing to take a chance on something different. Their problem was that they were overambitious and tried to put too many genres in one game. TR should explore new genres, but one at a time. Well, 2 at a time because raiding always has to be a part of the equation. For example, don't make a tomb raider racing game if I cant get out of the car and control Lara's movements. And if a concept doesn't work out, all CD has to do is return to the tried and true formula for the next game and fans will come flocking. I just want something completely new for a change. keep it fresh and interesting.
