I have one like that on my 2nd home PC. It opens and closes randomly - there's a ghost =D

Go in Itunes or somewhere and press eject

But mine won't go up at all. I hate it, Why can nothing be oldfashioned anymore?

According to your posts, your dvd drive won't go out and won't go up.
Care to describe the problem better?
My dvd drive doesn't go up either?! :D

Is it not ejecting properly, or is there more than that?

It sounds like your DVD drive won't come out. And It won't show on your computer.

Try to give more details: Does that happen once only or from time to time randomly? Was any "abuse" applied to the drive recently (includes electric discharge).

There has been no electrical discharge as i know. And none other abuse. It's very hot in my room now, but could it be that? *silly question*-

Try simply to reboot your PC and tell us then if DVD-ROM works well.

I have turned it off and on, but the problem is still there.

1. Download and run Autorun Diagnostics (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ARDiag.zip) and post the report here. If any software blocks the tray we should know.

2. Ensure that power is plugged firmly to the drive, change the power connector (plug another one).
