View Full Version : Hey! Any other piano players out there!?

Just thought I'd ask this, to ease us from the pain of waiting for the game! ;) I've been playing piano for about 12 years now, and I absolutely LOVE IT! When I'm not glued to the computer screen, chances are I'm playing piano. Are there any other piano playin' fools out there?

Yes, I've played for many years. Unfortunately, I'm a sporadic player, so I never seem to get any better. I've got too many things going on right now, especially considering Annacia is trying to start a business. Perhaps in the winter. Have to get the old thing tuned up first though.

yea, but don't you think it's like the best feeling ever? When I'm all frustrated and I can't go off about my problems to someone, I just go and play piano, expressing my anger or joy. (whichever I'm feeling). It's just the coolest feeling in the world!

Beckerooz, is your Avatar woman eating sweetcorn?

13-06-03, 01:27
haha! It's a little girl eating corn. I picked that one b/c I knew not many others would have it :D

Hi Beckerooz...I'm a piano player for 43 years. I play keyboards and write music like Bokkie. I feel exactly like you do about playing when I feel sad, or very happy. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/music2.gif

Awesome! Power to the piano people! Hey! Can you play The Entertainer Gonga? I just learned the original and memorized it. :D It's soooooo much fun to play!

Yes, I too am a piano player. I started learning when I was 11 (I'm now 27), and have since done a degree in music.

My piano teacher told there are two types of musicians: sight readers and improvisers. I'm an improviser!

I prefer to write music, and have worked with many people/bands over the years. I also have my own small studio at home equipped with synths and stuff.

If you can play the entertainer that's great! Ragtime's cool. Stride piano is killer!

I too am an improvisor and have a small studio. I had the same piano teacher (Edith Stonequist) as David Hyde Pierce (I forget the name of the show - I don't watch TV), who was a friend of mine in school and I have tapes of him playing my old keyboards too.

I bet you two are pro! You've been playing quite a long time! The great thing about playing instruments is that you can always get better, not worse (unless, of course, you stop playing for a couple of years).

My mother forced me to learn how to play. She thought that every nice young lady should know how to play the piano. But she turned into Mommy Dearest when I wouldn't practice, so now I have issues with the piano. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I always wanted to learn how to play the cello.

13-06-03, 17:44
That's too bad! Yea, I was forced into playing trombone in band when I was in 4th grade, and I HATED it!!!! My music teacher made me learn that one, when I really wanted to play saxophone. So I ended up quitting in 6th grade and switched to sax, and now I love it! :D I think the cello would be really fun to learn Isabella! Have you ever tried one?

13-06-03, 17:46
No, at least not yet. But it's one of my goals. It's such a beautiful, meloncholy instrument. It's always moved me. Was the trombone hard to play?

13-06-03, 20:24
I'm also playing keyboards when I have free time. I wrote a few songs and created several remixes.

I'm writing a songs usually when i'm sad or not in the mood - it relaxes me, and after that, when i like the music i created, i'm very happy http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Isabella: The trombone looks hard, but it was actually pretty easy. I just got bored with it and wanted to try something in the treble clef. You should totally learn the cello! It'd be awesome! :D

Bokkie: That's so cool that you write your own music! :D I wish I was talented enough to do that. However, I have made my own arrangements of Ozzy songs, since there's no piano music for his songs. It's really fun to do though, and when I'm finished, I feel really good that I've accomplished something like that! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif I've never tried actually coming up with my own songs though.

My best song was written during the bombing of Yugoslavia (now Serbia & Montenegro).

I can upload the song if you want to hear it ;)

Really!?!? I'd LOVE to hear it! :D

I also play the sax and clarinet as well. In our community we have an adult band that joins in with the school band for concerts at xmas etc. I've been thinking about going and I looked at my clarinet and the corks are all dried out. Does anyone out there know how to rehydrate dried cork?
If not I'll have to go buy a new set. Good thing I'm handy. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif

I had been taking Piano lessons since age 6 (I am currently 14). I quit taking lessons about 3 yrs ago, but i'm currently really interested in the Acustic Guitar. I found this really old Guitar For Begginers tape in my video closet, so i'm going to start with that first, then bug my parents about lessons! Is the Acustic Guitar fun? It looks fun to me! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Do any of you know someone who plays the drums? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/music1.gif

14-06-03, 04:35
I know MANY people who play the drums! I'm in the band in my High School, and we're really well known around town. It has about 300 members, and we play really awesome arrangments of rock n' roll songs (such as Aerosmith's Ragdoll, Carry on my Wayward Son, The Wall, etc etc). Any of you guys Giants fans? We got to play the national anthem on the field for one of their games! :D

Thanks, Beckerooz http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

So, maybe we can release some music together, piano players, what do you think? :D

14-06-03, 22:57
um....... Maybe....if I get better. ;) I don't think I can actually write music though. Ya'll can help with that, right!?
