Microsoft Issues Vista Performance and Reliability Fixes

Microsoft this week quietly issued public versions of two Windows
Vista software fixes that dramatically improve the reliability and
performance of the company's latest OS release. News about the fixes
came last week after the software giant inadvertently posted them to
its public Web site, but this week's release is the real deal.

The fixes, both of which come in separate versions for 32-bit (x86)
and 64-bit (x64) versions of Vista, address some of the common
complaints that users have had since the OS went on sale in January.
One fix addresses performance concerns, especially for large file copy
and move operations. The other improves Vista's compatibility and
reliability in a variety of situations. Both are strongly recommended
for all Vista users, and Microsoft has rated them both as "important."

Contrary to rumors floating around the Internet, these fixes have
absolutely nothing to do with Vista SP1, which Microsoft plans to ship
in early 2008. Though the fixes aren't currently available on Windows
Update, you can download the fixes manually at the following URLs:

Like I mentioned before its important for Vista users to download this and it should fix quite a few problems with the OS. It includes more driver support aswell :).

Also just looking around supposedly MS is already giving a small amount of BETA testers Vista SP1 BETA [scheduled for early 2008] so thats good news.

I'm wondering... Some people say that if you're going to buy a new PC then install Windows XP, because Vista isn't so good as XP, because of the many problems. And now with there important upgrades, does it change? I'm asking because I want Windows Vista on a future (soon) PC...

You should be able to over to Vista if you want to do everything except for gaming :). This download (and SP1 in the future) will improve the overall preformance and reliability in Visa. I recommend you upgrade in early 2008 - when sp1 is released.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Age of Wonder Shadow Magic

Sorry but I need to know because I will have that PC before October and I want to know if I should get Vista (I would like), or XP again!

Tomb Raider games should work okay with abit of help here and there. As for the other Im not so sure of. Usually games work in Vista but they may have slow dowsn/poor preformance. I'll try and see if I can find a list of games that work with Vista :).

EDIT: - Voila! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=76616 created by Joseph.

Also look on the official Site of the games listed in your post and see if there are forums. Maybe someone knows the answer on there. Or Google it up ;).

Also this may come of some use - http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=76614 [created by Joseph]. Remember due to the new Vista Update you might be able to get better performance then what it says in Josephs post :).

I recommend to listen to MUN33B and wait for complete SP1 is released. Then upgrade if nesessary. Don't bother if XP still fits your needs - if it's not broken, don't fix it :)
