 Whoa! I like the bones in the left hand!!

What's her name??

Gavman

She's doesn't have one yet Nat, she's just known as a military girl for the time being. Another side addition to the portfolio while I'm working on a level design.
I'll probably give her a name when she's complete tho http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

She looks like she will be tough. She certainly isn't too feminine! Will that be part of her character?

Gavman

Sure will shan, she's a 'pull no punches' kinda gal. Certainly not one to mess with. I just had a though about applying some face paint to complete the camouflage combat look. She'll probably look different again by the time i've finished tweaking the design.

A little bit of face paint could be what tops it all off! Great idea!
Might I suggest a slightly larger chin tho? Just a tad.

What type of game would she be featured in? First-person or third? Or would that be optional?
Still very much a fan of that hand... Awesome!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

hehe, I was expecting someone to point out the face thing. Its easy to criticise a face because its one thing humans look at and identify with most.
3 people have faulted that so far.

Its quite tough, once the design is textured up with the colour theres no going back, so the design has to stay as it was made, unless of course I remove 3 weeks worth of work to change the face slightly, then I would need to re apply texture coordinates and create the morph targets all over again :( hehe,,,, alot of work goes into this, I wish it was as simple as just altering it slightly.

The facial design is pretty well balanced Nat, its using morph motion to use the expressions. When u mix more than one morpher, such as a sad expression with an angry expression u get a slightly newer expression. In the render above I've combined two which havnt quite left it with a believable mouth. The lower lip is quite far down on there too which is giving the illusion of a small chin.

I'll take another look at the design, but I think it was just the morpher thats done it. I'll swap the expression so you can see her in a different way. Probably a smile or somethin http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The lighting was a bit harsh in that image also, I may need to turn it down a touch.

Ah! Too much work for someting that's not really needed then... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif It's great as it is! You should have seen the sad excuse of a skin I made when I was getting to learn Maya... LOL! Did get the movements pretty good, tho.

Can't wait to see what else you'll do!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

There's a font view of the face Nat, bland expression and standard viewport lighting in this one.

You were right, Gav. In that pic the shape is very realistic! Amazing what a little light and shadow can do! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

What is it you're pitching to the companies, btw? Is this a part of it or is it something completely different? Guess that's top-secret, tho... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

This is one of three things which have already been developed this year, the 2nd one is already under scrutiny for use within a company, the 3rd I'm currently working on is going to be aimed at Circle Studio which is about 2 miles away from me. But yes,,, its all under wraps im affraid. I don't mind you all seeing this character, she's just a side project, I'm not interested in going into character design, its purely the environments I have a fascination for, so I'm better at level design than character design. I'm just making sure I'm flexible for employment, if they want me for characters then I'll give em characters http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Nothin's out of bounds once I've figured out the last parts of this software. ;)

Took me a week just to figure out why a sceleton was really needed. The little project I had going (ie the idea that poped into my head) stood still for too long due to my incompetence with Maya, so I did with it what I already knew - turned it into a book! :D I'll leave the so called game to the experts if the story ever gets going for real.
Had a few thoughts of making it into a tv-series as that would suit the plot more than a movie, so we'll se where it all goes...
Between that and my day-job I simply try to stay optimistic. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

the croft woman!
