OMG last night i had the weirdest dream, i dreamt that i got a copy of tr aod through the post and i was playing it and the first level showed some cut scene of lara watching a tv with the ending of tlr on it.

Then when you played the game u where this strange middle aged woman walking through a black cave and this big green beast thing kept attacking you, and you could only punch it and u couldnt block any of its attacks, and i couldnt get past it so i level skipped until i was playing as lara in her denim in paris.

Then i came to these forums and posted that i had got a copy of tr aod and describing what happens at the beginning and no one would believe me saying i got information about what happened from websites etc. and then in the end i was banned for supposedly posting false info and then i woke up and looked across my room to my ps2 games rack to see if tr aod was amogst the games and i was like god :( another 6 days left. it was well weird!
anyone else had any strange dreams?

I woke up and in the dark I could see a figure (shadow) running through my room. Scared the hell out of me  . Then I came to my senses and realised I'd imagined it and went back to sleep. True story!!

Lol tlr! :D

I dreamt about these animals and faries playing instruments and Dani filth in a tutu, and lara was in a bright pink long dress and was singing at the top of her voice! I woke up laughing my head off!

When I was about 5 or 6 years old I dreamt of this weird place, like a Tomb Raider level, but I'd never played TR before. There was dirt and straw on the floor of this small dim torch-lit room, and the walls were made of ancient mossy stone. At one end of the room there was a stone arch with a rusty portcullis in it, with burning torches on either side, and to the right was a simple doorway leading through to another room in which there were two strange mossy stone statues with a key between them in a kind of alcove. To the left of the first arch was a kind of wall separator behind which was a long slope going down about twenty metres and stopping at a rusty gate, in which I used the key from the second room. Through the gate was another gate leading up to another slope almost identical to the first, and to the left of the gate I just opened was a very short passageway to a cavernous hall. There was a tall platform at one end on which a collapsed pillar was resting diagonally like a bridge from the floor, and there was a slope leading down to the floor from the passage I entered through. Up on the platform there was a sort of opening, like a doorway but not intentionally built, like the stones collapsed away, and there were burning torches on either side. As I approached the fallen column a group of bats swarmed out of a hole in the ceiling and flew past me. Something burst out from the hole up at the platform, a huge red-brown dog-like creature, and it leapt down towards me. Then I woke, and I didn't get to find out the rest.
It's really strange. I haven't forgotten it, and it happened about a decade ago. It's atmosphere is hard to explain... If I can find out how, I'll post 3D images of it that I'm finishing off just now. I really want to find out why I dreamt of it, because I only found out about Tomb Raider about six years ago, and never played any computer games when I was about 6. Nor did I watch TV programs or films like that, or visit places like that, or watch other people play games like that. I'll be really freaked out if a level containing something like that appears in AOD, 'cos I'll think I'm psychic or something...

On Thursday I dreamt that I was given a 50 note by some-one and on Friday I was given one. It's a long time since I have seen a 50 note.

14-06-03, 18:56
Maybe we could start our own cult of people who think they're psychic...

Last night I dreampt I was riding a bike at like 60 mph to the movie theater.
Then before I had a dream that they showed COL on a secrete tv channel. I watched the whole movie (and thought it was awesome) and then bragged to my boyfriend and then went on the forums to brag. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I have had plenty of silly dreams. There was this one about TR when I was in a desert exploring some isolated ruins. I was happy, as I was in total solitude and could explore. Then, Lara appeared and gave me this beautiful gify. It was a pink/red gem set in gold and had heiroglyphs on the side. I think it was lie a box but I never got to open it. Since childhood, I've always had a thing about ruined buildings and caves in general.

Even though you don't have to be asleep to dream, I haven't for awhile...just go to sleep and then wake up...

I'm sure everyone is jealous that they didn't grab that avatar sooner. Alot of "why didn't I take it when I had the chance"? is going around.

15-06-03, 02:12
Wait till you hear this! This one is really weird!

I had it during the TRC HC-mode Challange a few weeks back. I had been playing for a couple of hours after having been up for some 48 hours or so (NO sleep whatsoever in two days)...
At first I thought I was playing AOD... Then I realized I had gone into the game and was the main character. Not Lara, I was still me! But Lara was in the dream! Only it seemed like we had switched places. I was in the game and she was the one with the controls... She kept yelling and screaming at me 'cuz I wasn't very good at the jumping and last-minute-grab... LOL.

Don't remember that much about the dream but I woke up very confused!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif

I hate the semi-dreams where you feel like you are falling out of something and you jerk yourself awake. Are those symbolic of losing control of some aspect in life?

I've heard that that happens when your heart skips a beat; your subconscious informs you of it in your dream (I believe...)

16-06-03, 15:38
Isabella, you mentioned dream symbolism so I'll tell you this-Those "dream dictionaries" are in part from a psychological movement called "Freudian." Freud was the first person to look at the human mind in detail and he was also a crack addict. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Dream interpretation was a way in which he proposed to analyse a subjects thoughts. It was said by one psychologist that "dreams are the royal road to the psyche."

Freud's primary focus was on childhood conflicts and he believed that all psychological disharmony was due to unresolved conflicts such as the kid who hated his dad. He also proposed the freaky concept of the Oedipus complex. This basically means that every little boy secretly fancies and wants sex with his mother. He also believed the reverse with little girls to be true and called it The Electra complex.

Freudian therapies are still around today but are heavily criticised since they take so long to implement and no evidence for their effectiveness can be obtained. Some of the theories also focus on nothing but sexuality and childhood.

As for dream analysis, it can be really criticised given that one thing for one person may not mean the same for another. For example, if you dream of a dog you may find it a pleasurable thing if you love dogs. However, if you were someone nearly killed by a dog, the dream would have another meaning to you. The best person to actually analyse dreams is your dear self.

Thanks Ocean_Sirius. I am familiar with Freud but when it comes to dreams I think it's more fun to make up our own interpretations. Like you said, they mean different things to different people depending on their experiences. If a chicken appeared in a dream, most people would not be scared. I however think the little creatures are walking nightmares. There was an incident when I was little involving a chicken.

oh no! No wonder you're a vegetarian. ( you are a veggie aren't you? George's topic got so hot and heated I lost count of who was and who wasn't). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

16-06-03, 17:19
Yes, I am a vegetarian but not because of "the incident". It's more for health and love of animals. (Except the chickens, although I don't eat them.)

I agree with the health aspect. When you read what goes into the animals while they still live, it's enough to make yhou want to become a veggie. (or a crunchy, as I call them) I also think that you have to die of something so I may as well enjoy my steak while I can. I really hope that me saying this doesn't offend you, Isabella. That's the last thing I want to do. We didn't get off to a good start with that "Bush" posting and I'd like to think that that's behind us now. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

16-06-03, 17:33
Maureen, I already forgot about it. Actually I didn't even remember that it was you. ;) I completely respect people'e diet choices. Being a vegetarian is not for everyone and that's ok. It's a tough decision to make and it's not easy. For a while I was anemic because I wasn't eating enough protein. People's eating choices are their own. I cheat and have fish every now and then but please don't say anything. ;)

16-06-03, 19:06
Can you tell me what the "incident" was? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to and I don't believe in forcing people to talk.

As for being veggy, I crave meat if I don't have it for ages so I'd never be able to do it. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif I respect people who are vegetarian but my views are that I'm an animal just like a dog or lion and my ancestors hunted to keep themselves alive. Eating meat is said to have developed our brains, as did the changing climate. I believe that it is okay to kill as long as you're eating it and you do it humanely. I have no respect for people who hunt for "trophies."

It was when I first joined the forum. I opened my mouth, inserted my foot, and said something about the French here in Canada. If you want to know more, you'll have to go 4 or 5 pages back.

Thanks Isabella, you're a peach http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Ocean-Sirius. When I was little our neighbors had a few chickens or hens for fresh eggs. They would allow my sister and I to feed them through their hutch. One time the latch was not fastened and a gang of them started to chase me. I was only about 4 years old so they looked huge to me. All I remember were those beady shifty little eyes and sharp beaks getting closer and closer. To this day I think they still have it out for me. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

OMG http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif Isabella and Ocean: I though you were asking about the incident between "I" and myself. Christ talk about being thick. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

16-06-03, 20:03
Hi again Maureen. I have no idea if that was the incident Ocean-sirius was refering to. To me the chickens will always be concidered "the incident". :D

16-06-03, 23:13
I've found vegetarianism to be too much of a touchy subject, so I'm going to steer clear of most of the political side of it and just say I eat meat right now, but as soon as I graduate next year and I'm on my own there will be no parents to stop me from being a vegetarian! :D

I usually remember my bizarre dreams right after I wake up, but after 5 minutes I forget most of them. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Only thing more real than dreams....are nightmares...
