A man who had been declared officially dead woke up during his own autopsy after medics made an incision into his face. The 33-year-old Venezuelan man, Carlos Camejo, was pronounced dead after a car accident and was taken to a morgue, where medical examiners started an autopsy. The examiners realised something was amiss when Camejo started bleeding from the cut in his face and they quickly stitched him back up. According to a local newspaper report, Camejo said: I woke up because the pain was unbearable. His grieving wife, who had turned up at the morgue to identify the body, was overjoyed when she discovered her husband was still alive.

Lol, reminds me a CSI episode. Or the story, where the 'dead' girl called up her relatives, saying that she can't go to her funeral, becasue she's busy! Really freaky!

Reminds me of an episode in Heroes where Claire wakes up on the autopsy table! That scene scared me at first, but I think I can watch it without screaming now...

Well, good to hear that the man's still alive. :D

There's a Stephen King short story just like this, I think it's called 'Autopsy in Room 4'. It's from the same collection '1408' came from. Freaky.

I dont really know, to see if a hard blow to the head from the crash caused him to 'die' or something :p

sorry to ruin your fun, but this is not new...
sometimes if you stay in coma, your heart rate will drop very low for some time and since it is so low, it cannot be detected! your body temperature will lower until a state that is enough to live, but for nothing more...
then if you're lucky, your body will regain "control" of it self, and bring you "back" to life! then things like this happen!

What I can't figure out is...why were they cutting his face?

It doesn't say they did. It was probably a wound from the accident.

What I can't figure out is how they failed to notice he was still alive if he needed no help to revive.

why didnt they consider the possibility that he was in a coma-lik state that Dakaruch described.

i saw a music video and just when the "dead" girl was about to be cut, she woke up and held the doctor's wrist to stop him cutting her. instantly reminded me of this.

good thing he woke up then and not when he was stuck in that rectangular box thing or when it was too late.

If the guy was thrown in to a state of coma or something alike then the pulse would be most likely very faint and somewhat unnoticeable :)
