I have gotten the relic and both switches done already. the problem I'm having is where your on the left alcove (facing the lead bar) and your supposed to grapple the pillar with the ring on it. my hook wont grab it for some reason , i have tried grappling it from the other side on the smaller pillar and i can get it there but cant pull it. anyone else have the same problem or a fix of some sort? i cannot continue until i can get that lead bar:hea:

Hi there! Welcome to TRF!
I'm a little confused! in the Fire Room (last lead bar), there's only one thing to grapple, a golden ring! Also to grapple it you have to jump and then press once the grapple button!

Hiyas and thanks for the welcome and speedy reply :)
Left hand alcove - Return back to the edge of the alcove and jump to grab the crevice of the stone pillar you came from. Wait for the fires below to go off and drop down. Jump to grab the circular ledge you just raised and pull up. Wait for the fire to go off and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar with the lion faces. Traverse to the left and when you hang beneath the second lion face, jump to land on the small square ledge behind you. Jump to grab the ladder and climb to the top. Use the switch to raise the second stone pillar, which is next to the one with the lion faces. [Checkpoint] From the edge, use the Grapple to catch the gold ring of the pillar with the lion faces (as shown in this screenshot). Pull it to rotate the pillar and gain access to some metal ledges that can get you to the top of it without passing through the fires.
thats straight from the walkthrew. i dont know any other way to explain it but i am in the pic on the screen shot and can see the ring from both sides of the pillar :/
I think Dr. Marvin means the pillar on the opposite side of the room; you grapple it and then you can pull it to rotate the pillar.
I'm not sure what to suggest except stand as close the edge of the alcove ledge as possible and make sure the camera is centred correctly. You should get there in the end.

Well, I think you confused grab with grapple! what it says is that you should go back to the right alcove and search fo the golden ring (I spoke in my other reply!) in the left wall (if Lara's facing the lever of the right alcove) jump forward and press th grapple key, do wall-run and grab the ledge in the wall in the other side!

Yep! After picking up the Lead bar (and optionally: the relic) there's nothing there to do! Quick way to go back: Swim!
I done this already, i got the (cutsean??) of the relic but couldn't find it.
Where was it??

If it's this part that's problematic :
From the edge, use the Grapple to catch the gold ring of the pillar with the lion faces (as shown in this screenshot (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tombraideranniversary/walkthrough/images/midas08.jpg)). Pull it to rotate the pillar and gain access to some metal ledges that can get you to the top of it without passing through the fires.
Sometimes Lara doesn't aim at the ring and thus the grapple won't catch it. The only way to do it then is to use Manual Aim (Z on PC version, R3 on PS2). You'll see a blue circle appear on the ring. Press the Grapple button (Q on PC, Square on PS2) to catch it.
For the relic, it is inside the pillar next to the alcove with the lead bar. It's a timed run.
Here's a shortcut on how to get to the switch :

sweet thanks Clara , i will try that l8ter. i didn't know the manual aim would help with the grapple.

I found that you have to stand in the EXACT RIGHT SPOT in order for her to connect the grapple to the ring (well, you could wait for the stars to align...)
HERE"S WHERE TO STAND!!! Stand as close to the top left of the ladder! Don't stand on the edge of the alcove. Seriously, stand near the top left hand corner of the ladder (as you look out at the room). See below views from both sides (entering and exiting alcove):

Once I found this sweet spot, the grapple connects first-time, every time.
Good luck!

I just love that fire room, one of the best parts of the game, you get a real feeling of the fire trying to bite you in the ...... :D
Tomb Raider is great at this, you always find at least one or more room in any of the TR games, that uses raw power to make life difficult for Lara :vlol:
It's possible to just jump to the pillar without bothering to turn it with the grapple. Lara will get burned by the fires a bit, but nothing that a small medipack can't fix.
