Just yesterday we changed out TV to a sharp aquous lcd tv, now the picture quality of freeview is great, dvd quality is good as well, but the ps2 is really not that good, sure it runs fine, and appears to be faster than the older tv but the pictures more fuzzed and not as sharp.

Anyone know whats going on? Do i need a non scart cable as that is what is currently connected?

Cheers guys,
J.

I honestly have no idea.

I use my PS3's upscaling function to get good PS2 video quality.

Exactly how is it hooked up? (first and most important question)

This may have something to do with the LCD not running with it's native resolution. Most PS2 games are set at running 480i which is the interlaced signal, so you won't get the sharpness unless you have a game that supports progressive scan 480p, 720p, 1080p. It's also very likely your monitor doesn't support it in it's native resolution, so you'll have the lines of the image doubled to fill in between in order to make up the difference.

Check the hookup to see what connections you need. Just bear in mind the PS2 does NOT process a pure VGA signal out of the box. It's only been done by Dreamcast, so you need to do a little research with any device you decide on picking up.

I have this problem too J. I read in a PS2 magazine a few months back that PS2 games look crap on LCD TVs too, but It didn't really explain it.

I read something awhile back about a disk that does something to the hardware so it's forced to display in progressive mode. I need to look around.
