Do you think a patch would make tomb raider anniversary better, or shouldn't there be any...

It would fix some problems....
Of course it could correct a lot of glitches, but the game has been released on June and we are in October now, I doubt we'll have the chance to see one someday unfortunately... ^^

Will it fix the ledge glitches and some other "climbing through walls near the water's surface"? :D
Yes it would, but it seems they didn't want to spend time creating patches, so they just released it as it was. I can't believe some of the things were overlooked. Cmon, Legend has patches.
A patch would be need to fix some annoying glitches. If the Xbox 360 version contains these glitches on the disc then I sure do hope they can provide a title update. I don't even think they put out a single update for Legend come to think of it.
Owning the PS2 and PC version, as far as l am concerned the game only needs a patch for the very small number of people who had the profile curruption problem on the PC. There were no glitches worth mentioning in either of my versions.
I heard of many people who had trouble with the installation (on PC).
I had them, too and it was quite complicated to install it because of that.

I think profile corruption only happens when people change up their .exe's, mess around with their profile folder or edit the registry settings, aussie? It's also fixable if you keep on reinitializing your profile by playing the game until it recognizes it.

What about the glitches to bypass the T-Rex, left-roll(R), checkpoint mission-passed door glitches (Temple of Khamoon/Croft Manor), and ledge glitches to fall through levels? :D
There's a glitch in Obelisk of Khamoon which allowed the player to return to Croft Manor and get credit for the OoK TT (not to mention "Croft Manor in 19 secs" glitch).

Definately but it is not severe to have one there just little annoying bugs. :D

Or one can simply rename the profile folder on his/her HDD into something else. Worked for me.

That's probably if it contains weird characters/symbols.

l played Anniversary on 4 different PC's, nothing was altered it was simply installed as its makers intended and run from the disc as it was meant to be. One Acer PC with onboard graphics as well as a crappy stand alone card had the profile problem. We tried the recommended fix but the problem kept occurring, the game was unplayable, since you would need to complete it in one sitting. The disc was the same, only the PC had changed. Despite my friend being a Tomb Raider fan, he is waiting for the XBox360 version to play the game.
If the player deliberately goes out of their way to do something to find a glitch, that is hardly a problem with the game, that is a problem with the player. A bug requiring a patch would be something that happens in normal gameplay, on most PC's. They cannot make a patch to update your drivers, get you a better PC, or stop people running so much crap on the PC that it is a wonder they can play a game at all.

Not really. Mine was ok in terms of used letters, but it still "crashed". So i've added another word to my profile name and voila, everything's fine so far.
But well, maybe it really has something to do with my PC being a horrendous old piece of cow poo.

Well, I am posting again because I want to understand this situation clear. I never had problems loading profile. As I said, if you get the "Unable to load profile, your progress will not be saved until a profile is selected" then that means you need to let the game know that there is a profile by reinitializing it. Why this occurs is because the last profile used in "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\Eidos\Tomb Raider - Anniversary" does not match the profile in the registry! So if you say renaming was what that help, you renamed it to the same string of letters as in the registry - the game recongizes this as the OK version. Ways of reinitializing? - exit/restart game, select a profile manually in the Change Profile menu, load up Croft Manor or load up new game.
So if any further problems should arise, you can either delete every single registry entry (both keys/subkeys) in HKCU/HKLM for Tomb Raider Anniversary, or do the "reinitializing" trick I mentioned. If you don't want to reconfig everything all over again, then just simply rename the strings for the MRUProfileName key to what profile you say was corrupted.

As long as your system meets the requirements of the game and you are running WindowsXP/Vista, problems can be easily fixed on almost any computer.
We tried the recommended fix but the problem kept occurring, the game was unplayable, since you would need to complete it in one sitting.
You mean that this recommended (http://support.eidosinteractive.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=581&nav=0,981,1012,1013) fix didn't help, and does "one sitting" means that you have to complete it without saving? Just making sure. :)
Yes those were the instructions we were following, and you still could not exit the game and reload your profile, whether starting a new one with the default name, or starting a new one with a different name we could only create it, move the save games in save and reload the old save game to continue. You had to do it every single time you started the game, you could save just fine while playing, and the autosave worked when you died, but when you exited it no longer recognised the profile, any profile no matter what the name was. l am not sure if l was just getting careless, but we did the profile swap 3 times, and the fourth time no matter what l did l could not get it to recognise the old save games. l gave up, it was not worth the hassle, and my friend certainly did not have the patience to put up with it, he has plenty of games to play that actually work. l doubt for the small number of people that have the problem that a patch would be released.

Did he try to delete all his profiles in the "My Documents" folder and let the game create one automatically? The game creates a folder called "Default Profile" and you can transfer the saves into that profile. Note that you can still save with this profile because it's like you created a profile and name it as "Default Profile"! Anyway, the game also needs administrative privileges and cannot be run on limited accounts. If you installed the game on one account, I don't think it is possible to use a different one to play the game and expect profiles to load corrctly. You need to use the account that installed the game.
Not sure if this bug happens to do with some different versions of Tomb Raider Annviersary PC like Steam/Gamesload/Trymedia. The 19MB exe is what I never had a problem with (don't know about the 4.58/8.93MB one). I think the retail, boxed versions uses those exe's as well.
Hmm... is he using the US/UK version? Or is it the Italiano, German, Spanish, French retail versions? :D
recognise the old save games
I thought your problem was that profiles didn't load? I said to try delete your other profiles and use "Default Profile". The save game issue is very easy to fix! Just load up Croft Manor or start a new game to reinitialize the profile and click "Replay Game" or "Load Game" (and the .exe used to create the saves MUST be the same or else it will say "This saved game appears to have been corrupted" or "Autosave is damaged"). It will be very helpful to tell me what error message comes up.
I would like a patch to fix some minor problems. And to make the camera a little better. Nothing major, but things like Lara's wet clothing instantly drying when you pull a lever. It's definetly not major, but I would like to see it fixed.

I don't know how difficult it would be to do this, but if they can make a patch that will cause the camera to ignore all of the scripted camera movements (not counting cutscenes) then that would be pretty cool :D

First, I want to see CD's sub-command logic for their current Combat Mode's camera. And if that camera-logic would work with grapple wall-running, then we might see a small part of the "answer" to your question, WD? (And using it for normal movement sounds like some GREAT TR retro-thinking to me, folks!) :tmb:
For wall-running, it should have only up and down camera-positioning.
So it should stay perpendicular to the wall, just as we need it to be.
AND if CD just gave me the command then I know a perfect place to attach it to a key (temp or locked), with my AutoHotKey code, mates!
But poor old over-worked CD is probably still jamming, like mad, on the new code for the next TRA console-puter release, you know?
(Btw, are there anymore of those toybox computers left to release to?) ;)

It has nothing to do with what version you are using, of course it was the admin acc we were using, no we are not stupid, yes we deleted all the profiles and let it make a new one. It simply said we had to start a profile before playing, there was no problem with corruted autosaves. (That only happens to people using the no CD patch as far as l know.) No none of it made any difference at all. We were using the British version, not that that would make any difference, it worked just fine on my PC and 2 others, this was the only one that had problems. The three other people l know that had the profile problem also had Acer PC's.(Obviously l am never going to buy an Acer PC now)
There is absolutely no point playing the game from the start every single time you play it, yes we wanted to use the perfectly good save games we already had, the owner of the PC is no longer interested so there is no point pursuing the problem.
As a side note this was not the only problem encountered on this PC, almost every single enemy managed to get stuck on something, we never played past The Lost Valley (did not even reach the T-Rex), so cannot comment on what other problems the game might have had. No enemies ever got stuck on my PC or the other 2 and l have completed the game 3 times on my PC, so that is not a problem with the game as far as l am concerned, that is a problem with the PC.

Then I guess I don't have much to say about your Acer PC problem but more of what looks like an OS settings problem, not with the computer itself.

I'll keep 'em, buy a new SATA hard drive, and install a fresh copy of Windows XP SP2/Vista. After that, I'll simply update the drivers along with the latest Windows updates and play Tomb Raider Anniversary flawlessly! xD
As for the v1.1 patch - I would want a "Look Behind" feature added as another control (middle mouse button) like how the "Walk" button was added in Tomb Raider Legend.

Than I would have problems with it as I have the crouch-button on middle-mouse.

Two computers were brand new XP with service pack two, the Acer was 6 months old, with service pack 2 and and all 4 had the latest sound and graphics drivers, 3 had the latest windows updates. My PC is actually 2 years old, service pack one and virtually no windows updates. None of the PC's had SATA hard drives, mine is the weakest processor a Pentium 4 2.6Ghz, but l had the most RAM (1.5Gb) and the only reasonable graphics card (GeForce 6600 GT 256Mb) The other two that managed to play the game fine had onboard graphics only. Still say it the shoddy Acer PC that caused the problem. :p
Lara has no rear vision mirror attached, she wants to look where she is going not behind her.

What's wrong with default key of [SHIFT]? Roll does almost the same thing as crouch when Lara touches the surface, only thing that the animation is different. The only use it has is to crouch under objects or hide away from enemies which are easy to defeat anyway.
Oh, another feature to be added is the crouch + shoot feature! :D

Yes, probably crappy settings were preinstalled into the OS. That's why you buy the retail box for the OS or build your own computer...

there was no problem with corruted autosaves. (That only happens to people using the no CD patch as far as l know.)
The autosave has gotten corrupted several times for me. I did not in any way modify the .exe and I had the disc in the drive at all times.

I'm not sure what you mean by "look behind." If you want the camera to move to Lara's back, then press the "Display HUD" button. If you want to quickly move the camera 180 degrees (not in combat) then move Lara in the opposite direction and press the "Display HUD" button. :) If it's not one of those two things, then I'm not sure what you are describing.

ZOMG :o
I'm not sure what you mean by "look behind."
Look behind by the press of a button while moving forwards at the same time - the "middle mouse button". And this is to avoid successive rotations, and to actually improve the TRA camera. Meaning that I want to look behind without pressing the [DOWN] button, rather the [UP] button. I shouldn't have to change my current destination or movement path!
Or it could just be some conflict between the on board graphics and the AGP card.
Faulty motherboard, bad drivers.

Hard drive was faulty and replaced 2 months after he got it, l re-installed the operating system, so l do not think it could be that. You might be right though it could be something unique to Acer PC's. Or it could just be some conflict between the on board graphics and the AGP card. He got sick of the entire thing before we got that far. he is a keen gamer who is addicted to WOW, although his woeful graphics card stops him playing some of the latest games, he has never had anything like this happen before.

Luckily it was just the autosave (not the whole profile) so I just had to start a new game and then I could load my previous saves :)

You can already do that :) Just position the camera where you want it and then use 'S' to move Lara towards the screen :)
