View Full Version : Intro?
Every TR intro so far has always consisted of a scene that the game's plot is based around(except TR4 and Legend) and I was thinking that they should change it up a bit for TR8, much like they changed it for Legend. Instead of a Bond-like montage of clips and Lara silhouettes or a story-based FMV that could just as well be done as a cutscene, they should do a recap of TR:L and TR:A through screencaps and clips with TR8's theme(or a nice variation of it) playing in the background...similar to how it was done in Spider-Man 2 & 3. :D That is...if TR8 is a continuation of Legend and Anniversary...:o
Spider-Man 2 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=iSDU2tu7rpk)

Legend's intro is already pretty similar to these in terms of style, so it's just a matter of making it longer with more story-based clips and a better song. :p What do you guys think? :)
it would be a great idea!:tmb: But i don't think anniversary should be linked to tr8:(

it already is. scion, avalon, atlantis, portal. the remake is connected.

Sounds like a good idea! :D
I prefer a scene which serves as an introduction of the plot. Just like it was with TR1 - 3, 5, 6, and TRA. Hopefully much longer than TRA's though.
It could start with Lara meeting with that professor she was talking about in Legend's finale. After that, main menu, press new game, and another scene which introduces the first level and Lara, then total freedom (no other cut scenes, talking, etc...).

I dunno...TR intros have always been flashy and exciting(except TR5, which was supposed to be sad, depressing etc.). I think it would be kind of a step down to go from the original style to something as calm as a conversation between Lara and a professor.
I thought about this, too.
But I'd take videos rather than pictures and perhaps Lara as a storyteller? Or perhaps Amanda? Would be cool.
I'd love to have some proper kick ass intro. Not a cliche bond one or a lame explosion. Something really good looking & action packed. Something TR hasn't done before. That or a similar intro like in tr1, 2, 3, 5 & 6.

I said clips as well.
they should do a recap of TR:L and TR:A through screencaps and clips with TR8's theme(...)But, your idea's cool. :tmb: Although, I think an intro with a narrator recapping TR:L and TR:A might make it a bit long. I like the idea of hearing the events recapped through Amanda's perspective, though. Maybe it could happen during a flashback sequence later at some point in the game?

Anniversary's intro is the best TR has seen since TR3. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/gtkilla/redface1.gif Not to mention that it's pretty much the same as TR1's with the exception of Natla breaking free.

Intros have historically had nothing to do with Lara Croft. In TR1 the intro was an explosion in New Mexico. TR2 was a battle in ancient China. TR3 was a meteroite landing millions of years ago. etc. etc.

I agree. I'm all for cutscenes, but make them really long AND engaging, but far in between. It's a good idea to put Lara's meeting with Professor Eddington BEFORE beginning the game. It could start of with Lara talking to him in a small personal library of the professor and he tells Lara everything he knows, eventually giving us a visual imagery of the things he is saying about the great ancient civilizations (the Merlins and the King Arthurs) that has shaped the course of the world's development. And then when you press Start Game, another cutscene, similar to Lara's 'climbing up a set of stairs' cutscene before Bolivia, showing her traversing a new location suggested by Professor Eddington for her to visit. :)
^Yeah! At least i don't want the "PDA Check" type of cutscene.

Sounds good..
:yik: I cant beleive it that some still didnt conclude that TRl/TRA are connected...
THEY ARE...
I want a FMV that will leave me speechless (like the ones Blizzard make) and one that really makes me want to play the game.
The spider-man intros are nice, but I wouldn't bother to watch something like that more than once. Plus I want something new, if I'd wish to see a montage of clips from TR-L and TR-A, youtube has a bunch of fan-made ones.

That's the thing, we won't be getting any FMVs. Just a regular cutscene, but pre-rendered so it can run at the beginning of the game without loading the game engine. I was thinking a recap would be good because it could get people up to speed on what's going on with the story and people who didn't play or complete Anniversary won't be like "wtf?".

I know, but I still want a FMV , it's still more effective IMO :D

I think that they should include this somehow in the game (at the beginning), because the intro usually leaves a big impression about the game, and I want it to be a good one.
