I need help!! ;)

A long time ago, I got Tomb Raider Gold and TR:TLA. I never installed TR1G on my old Windows '98 computer and I have no idea why. Needless to say, my old computer broke with my TR:TLA disc in it (how convenient ). Now I have a new computer using Vista (the basic edition... if that matters), and I decided I would finally install TR on my computer, as I am a PS player, so I've never gotten the joys of the flight cheat and editing the levels and so on. I downloaded the Vista MultiPatch from TRC, but that only covers TRII-TRC+LE. Whenever I try to install TR1, it goes to a black screen with a flashing little white line in the upper-left hand corner for about 60 seconds, and then that old 'The program has stopped working... Windows is checking for a solution to the problem... close the program....' thing comes up :(. Is there any other thing I can use to install TR1 Gold on Vista correctly? Thanks for the help :)

Glidos/VDos32 (www.glidos.net) (not free) is the only to get TR1/Gold to work reasonably well on Vista at present, minus the music and ambient sounds (ingame sounds work ok though). Glidos' author is still working on the problem at the moment. Instructions are here:

Ok I followed your instructions but it didn't work :(. When I install the VDos32, it does this quick thing and says it's installed. I don't think that's right . I don't know how to install the game using that as an installer. Thanks for the help so far

Do you have a copy of Glidos? You need that as well as Vdos32.

Install the game using the installer from the link provided in that post.

Install Glidos and copy Vdos to the same folder c:\program files\glidos

Follow the rest of the instructions to configure Glidos and Vdos -
