Femme Fatale is her safest album to date, tbh. I'd actually say Circus isn't even safe in comparison to FF.

Maybe in the zone was screwed up not blackout. FF is brit's 3rd comeback album.

pekirock
20-04-12, 17:11
The problem with Circus is there is no cohesion between the tracks. It's not the tracks themselves... well some of them. Circus actually has some really good songs.

Exactly, thats what I was getting at, its all over the place.

It was her 2nd comeback album. After she screwed up Blackout during the promo phase, It had to be safe.

I remember when it came out everyone was like "Z OLD BRIT IZ BACKKK" :p

I know, I was actually really reluctant with Circus. I remember thinking 'she made such an awsome album with Blackout and then gives us this mess' when listening to it :vlol: It was only when I got to songs like Unusual You, Lace and Leather, Rock me in and phonography that I started to warm to the album.

I liked it, I thought the campaign for it was really well done. But as the time went on I started to listen to it less

It was messed up because she wasn't ready for performing again and after her shocking performance at the 2007 VMAs the album was virtually dead in the water from then on. The general public saw she was still a mess and gave up on her. Piece of Me pulled the album up a bit but the animated video for Break the Ice and lack of 4th single sank it.

That's because of her depression that made her not perform. She had a rough time in the past.

I'm not denying any of what she went through, and I put the blame with her people, not with her. She clearly was not ready to perform yet, they should not have made her/let her do so .

FF is an amazing album. Definitely one of my favourites, however, it won't be winning any awards for it's "ground breaking fresh sound". It's really generic and her mostauto-tuned album alongside Blackout.

Your opinion is shared amongst a lot of fans. The fan favourites tend to be either Femme Fatale, In The Zone or Blackout. ;)

Maybe in the zone was screwed up not blackout. FF is brit's 3rd comeback album.

That doesn't make sense.

So it has something to do with the people not britney herself. I see now.

Wasn't it Britney's choice to go ahead with Blackout? She wasn't forced or anything, didn't she also have creative control over it? Hence why it's one of her best, though.

jajay119
20-04-12, 17:32
I'm not sure, it may have been. But somone should have stepped in a stopped her. She could have even gone ahead with the album and not the performance at the VMAs, someone should have stopped doing that too. Luckily that's what happened soon after.

Dark Lugia 2
21-04-12, 00:18
I'm kind of glad she did that VMA performance tbh, its become iconic. Even though she had so much going on in her life, she stood there and performed in front of everyone when she really didin't have to.

Plus I actually liked the performance and didn't think her figure looked that bad at all, it matches Brit's body during some points of the FF tour.

Femme Fatale is her safest album to date, tbh. I'd actually say Circus isn't even safe in comparison to FF.
FF being generic doesn't mean that its a safe album, there's lots of experimentation on it. That's just my opinion though.

Weemanply109

Hm, a lot of people seem to agree that the album is the safest in regards to her artistic (if you could call it that) direction. It was dance tracks. Atleast Circus was varied.

Though, I guess it's a matter of opinion.

Do you think the Queen would use a word so mainstream as "innovative"? She'd say it's "very cool". <3

Exactly, she can give life to the songs with all those things she does and it's sad that most people don't know that she actually has a good voice, despite the use of autotune. *Everyday, I'm looking at you :(*

The public aren't interested in Britney as much as they used to be, hence the (possibly considered) flop sales figures for the album, even the fact that it was crammed with basic, generic dance tracks couldn't save it. So I'm a bit skeptical about her releasing unreleased material, as most of her unreleased stuff doesn't even hold a candle to her released albums and singles, tbh (besides maybe about 4 or 5 songs).

I like Britney blonde, but she just needs to tone it down. A darker shade and some lowlights to off set her natural pink skin shade would look nice. Sort of like during the early ITZ era.

Although I'd prefer her to have a shorter hairstyle. I think she could rock a bob or shoulder cut. It would make her look a lot more mature and be a lot easier for her to handle when not making an effort.

Something like this, only with a more modern choppier cut:

Just realised this was a general thread and not an appreciation thread.

Went to a feminist talk today and it really brought home how damaging Britney Spears' and other artists' images have been for women's rights. Britney Spears, notably, has totally presented herself as an object for all of her career, set an unattainable standard for women as regards her physical image and perpetuated the idea that women should be submissive and obedient.

"I believe we should just trust in our president." ~ Britney Spears

Inb4 most of the people that criticise this comment of mine, if any, will be men.

Weemanply109
29-04-12, 01:34
LOL U **** **** OFF!

LOLJK. I actually agree to some extent, but I think Britney wants to do more with her career, it's not like she's obedient because it's what she chooses to do, after all, she is under a conservatorship, she has no say in the matter. It's all legal shenanigans.

Haha, actually I didn't have her conservatorship in mind when I criticised her for being obedient - I had in mind numerous comments she has made in interviews in the past and many of her lyrics and music video plots expressing a desire on her part to submit to men and essentially be their baby/doll, as though she is some inferior being that needs to be controlled and at men's disposal.

Your first comment is back-to-front. If no-one were responsible, then the cause would not exist because there would be no effects? Of course someone is to blame.

Britney represents an ideal; girls and women listen to her music. Of course people aspire to Britney.

It's actually so eye-opening how people are so rigidly in denial about how the media has an effect on the human mind.

But I dont personally think its her role to be a role model, no matter how much famous she is or how much girl look up to her. She chooses what she wants to do and it shouldnt be anyones business but her own, unless she chooses to share it with the public. Thats why its called the entertainment industry, because people like her get paid to entertain people like us, whether that may be through her music or sadly her personal life.

I personally think thats what parents are for, so they can educate their children on whats right and what isnt. Britney and other popstar shouldnt.

Britney Spears is a contributor to a negative image of women in the media. That much is in my view undeniable.

I'm blaming the media, in part, as being a necessary though not sufficient (yes, I do agree that parents need to do more - but they too have been indoctrinated) condition for female submissiveness and subjugation.

I'm saying, Britney Spears has played her part, amongst many others, in creating what is an unpleasant and dangerous era for women in modern society.

I suppose I'm sort of holding her responsible, because she does have a mind of her own. Her 'media team' (puppeteers) are more to blame though, of course.

As I said, the media as a whole - TV, music, games, etc. - is extremely and undeniably culpable.

Thats what I hate so much. I hate it when people think its like the medias role to babysit our minds. Like its ok if you go outside of your bubble, thats how we learn.

No offence, nothing personal, but its people like you who sorta spoon feed people. The western culture just has this state of mind that its the medias fault for everything. Its like if a person goes and kills someone for no reason because they saw it on tv itll make be all like "LETS BAN THIS **** YADADA", when in reality you should know better because you are a human being and because you have a ****ing brain.
I was born and raised in Europe where the mindset is completly different. An example would be: I was little and was walking home from school and decided to run into the street which results me getting hit by a car. Now is this the schools fault for not 'guiding' by taking my hand as I walk across, or is it my own fault for being a stupid? Ding ding, the second one.
And you know what? If you ever went there you would see the difference in peoples maturity and lets just say kids mature a lot sooner than they do here. And thats not a bad thing

The Britney Spears thread probably isn't the best place to discuss this, but all I'll say now is that there is a strong difference between enduring gender roles, which clearly can be fortified by media portrayals, and isolated incidents which require a voluntary, informed and deliberate act, for which responsibility cannot properly be placed on the media.

I forgot how much I love Britney (the album). It was my favourite until Blackout floored me but I haven't listened to it in so long and I just remembered why it was my favourite. I would love her next album to be an updated version songs like Slave, Lonely, I love Rock n roll, Before the Goodbye and What it's like to be me. <3

Edit: with circus and FF covering the last 4 years of Britney's career. It's easy to forget how original her sound/different sounds was/were until 2008.

What It's Like To Be Me >>>>>>>

Anyway, our dearest Radar Horse has left us all a message of Peace and re-assurance. Please read below.

"My flawless children,
my heart has been touched with all of your kind messages and well wishes,
but please, shed no tears!

For I have merely been rewarded for all my good deeds on here on Earthney and as such, the Holy Spearit has deemed it fit to transform me into a saint to watch over all her beautiful and sexxxy followers in the lands of Breatheheavy and Tumblr! Twitter optional

Blessed are the souls in Exhale who use my gifs as their sigs,
for they shall be pardoned, by the grace of the Divine-ney,
and by the power of my holy hose!

Forgiven shall be the haters for they know not what they do;
worshiping false idols,
And praise be to all those who continue to seek my guidance,
and send me their nudes.

Love & light to all,
Saint Radarhorse

ps. The Seven Heavens of the Holy Spearit has an internet connection, praise be!"

Thank you to the flaw free hunk "TheRCroft" for informing me. Forever bless his heart. <3

The opinion that women should not be able to do what they want, act they way they want and dress the way they want because they might look like whores is, actually, extremely sexist.
So you, regardless of your gender, can be considered (and I do consider) quite close-minded for the opinion you posted.

Y'all really aren't adding anything by quoting everything someone says in defense of Brit. In doing so you are ganging up on someone who has a different opinion and it probably makes readers take you less seriously.

I saw that Brit uploaded a photo from the Sheffield show of the FFT on Instagram last year. :D I cant believe its been like half a year since then already...

Wow. Actually all it does is show that whoever the person is quoting has some sort of opinion that one agrees with and shows more emphasis that said opinion has validity to it. So no, it doesn't make people take it less seriously. No one is ganging up on anyone, I miss the part when we can't express that we agree with someone's opinion without "ganging up" on someone. Complete bull**** IMO. Respect lost, Amir.
