That's exactly what her team wanted though. To make the typical, run-of-the-mill pop music to get Britney back into the groove. The whole Circus album is very bland, but they did this to try to get her career back on track.

I personally dislike Circus, except for 2 or 3 tracks, but it was successful in getting the general public to listen to Britney's music again.

IMO, Blackout is her masterpiece. But, I think her team thinks that by creating a sound like Blackout, it it will conjure up images of Paparazzi-hitting, head-shaving Britney.

Yeah, her record company very much decide for her, unlike other current artists like Gaga and Taylor Swift who all write their own songs, but Brit has wrote quite a few off her own songs as well, like Ooh Ooh Baby and Mannequin! :tmb:

How could the average listener even know what she's talking about?

The whole point of the song was to disguise it well so it wouldn't completely fail on radios like IUSA. If IUSA wasn't censored it would have been another top ten hit but because it was censored the song didn't make any sense and they didn't want that to happen again with 3 so they deliberately made it sound like she's singing about nothing and everything at the same time.

It took it 6 hours less that Womanzier to hit the number 1 spot! Tomorrow, but they give a mini preview every Wednesday -

Britney Spears becomes the first artist in over three years to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, to be released tomorrow (Oct. 15), as "3" opens at the pinnacle of the chart. Her new track, a racy paean to the joys of three-way sex from the upcoming hits set "The Singles Collection," due Nov. 24, shifts 255,000 downloads in its first week of release, also propelling it to No. 1 on Digital Songs. The title also jumps 38-25 on the Pop Songs chart and debuts at No. 49 on Radio Songs/Hot 100 Airplay, which ranks songs based on airplay audience on all radio formats.

"3" is the first title to debut at No. 1 since Taylor Hicks' "American Idol" victory song "Do I Make You Proud" did so on the chart dated July 1, 2006. In fact, the last four songs to open at No. 1 were all "American Idol"-related. Prior to Hicks, Carrie Underwood's "Inside Your Heaven" (July 2, 2005), "I Believe" by Fantasia (July 10, 2004) and Clay Aiken's "This Is The Night" each debuted at No. 1. The last non-"Idol" song to open at No. 1 was Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" on Nov. 14, 1998. "3" is Spears' third Hot 100 No. 1. Her debut single "...Baby One More Time" spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1999 and "Womanizer" spent a sole frame at the top, exactly one year ago this week, on the chart dated Oct. 25, 2008.

That's because it was when Billboard didn't really take downloaded songs into consideration, completely opposite to how songs chart at the moment.

Actually, it's her 3rd #1 at release, few songs achieve that and 3 is the first song to achieve that in three years. Most of Britney's singles achieved #1 but not at release time.
