Hi everyone :wve:

So when was the first time you tried Internet ? What were your feelings ? Did you understand how to use it alone or with someone's help ?

The first time I tried Internet I think it was in 2003 , but I was seeing my mum emailing in Yahoo before (in the 96-98s) ! When I logged in to Internet for the first time, I was just searching for cheat codes for Tomb Raider and other games (because everybody was talking about the famous Google)) and I was also searching for sites where I could play games . :D

But remember something Internet # Computer, I used a computer for the first in 1995 when I used to play racing games on it :D , what a nostalgia ! :D

What about you ? :) :)

2002, when I was in Year 7. The first site I probably discovered was a cheat website, lol. I can't remember exactly which game I was looking for cheats for.

That memory got a bit confused.. think I was about ten, so it must have been 2001.I guess.I was with an older friend, who was hooked on chatting.
It's not that fascinating anyway.Back then, I couldn't even imagine how many uses it can have.

February 1996 when I got my own internet access, before that I'd had it for several years at work, but only used it for corporate business and didn't browse.

1999, on my Dreamcast console, I ran a right phone bill up LOL. :o I used to sneak my Dreamcast console downstairs at night with the keyboard and everything and set it all up, then if I heard any floorboards creak upstairs I would run around like a headless chicken trying to hide everything. I spent most of my time talking to people in the Chu Chu Rocket chat room and I remember reading a lot of gaming forums, among other things...;)

1997, I think. Of course I was only like 5 then so it was mainly just seeing my dad emailing work colleagues.

The first time I actually used it was 2000.

We had a modem and online access from about 1989 ;) We'd use it for posting on bulletin boards and such.

We didn't start using the internet - or the Information Super-Highway, as it was called then :D - till about 1993/4; simply because it didn't exist!

I've grown up with computers, and the internet. It's been an amazing trip so far :tmb:

Gosh... I think it was 1997? I don't remember exactly. It could have been 1996. But that's when we got internet access in the house, '96 or '97.

@Greenkey - I never have liked the name "Information Super-Highway", damned Al Gore.

And then when I was 11 year old I really started to use it.

1987. My father got a computer for work at home. He's going over all the lovely features and this strange thing he called the internet. I wasn't really paying attention until he said that the computer could play games. Bear in mind I was 7 at the time. :whi: :D

Yeah... I guess so : no images, no videos , no animation , nothing else !
It's normal If it was cool for you, just knowing that Internet was such like a web or a way to communicate with the whole world for free was a great thing at that time ! (I'm talking about the 90's , what to say about about the 80 lol) ! :D

Found a mint-conidtion PC Pro magazine a few days ago from 1994, with a wonderful article about the future of the Information-SuperHighway in it. Must get that typed up and posted - it's priceless :cln:

Early 2000 for me. The first site I ever visited was Yahoo, for setting up my email id. For at least another 3 years, my access to the internet was limited to weekly visits to an internet cafe. I remember trying to download stuff onto floppies and noting down the names of interesting sites in a notebook - it seems so ridiculous now. :D

First went on the internet in 1999, when I was the ripe old age of 16.
Can't remember what I looked at, but it was probably something to do with my coursework at college.

I hadnít really used computers much before then. In my I.T lessons at high school we hardly did any work, the teacher just let us play Age of Empires constantly.
Sounds fun (and yes, it was at the time), but when you leave school in this day and age not knowing how to use computers itís not that great. Taught myself how to use them though, and I think Iíve done a pretty good job of it. :p
I used to only use the computer to make random scribbles in Paint though.

Compuserve!

When I got online a little company was making big waves with "Netscape Navigator".

Actually I liked the net better back then. The majority of users were computer nerds and sharing their knowledge and ideas like crazy plus software and drivers and stuff.

The landscape was uncluttered by commerce, quite blissful.

Ha-ha! I laugh because I did something similar. I had a Saturn, and that link thing. I too ran up a phone bill! When my dad seen it, he was going back and forth through the house saying.. "Oh boy... Oh boy...." He was freaking out! I never felt so ashamed, and so stupid.

This was back in 96 I think. But I found the internet long before that. Where and when? I can't say. I've slept since then.
