Try compressing using WinRAR? http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
or a open source one like 7-zip that can compress much better than winrar
It depends: iif it's text, yes, highly likely-- if it's MP3 or some high-resolution data such as video or graphics, then no -- unless you want to lower the quality signifcantly.

nobody can answer on that. It depends on compression and what files are you going to compress. If it's mp3 or images then don't even try otherwise you can split 5mb to 5 files with 1mb each.

you can archive the archive abut 5-6 times.
What file type you're going to compress, Kooky?
you can archive the archive abut 5-6 times.
Uh, what? No you can't. Using the same archiving software with the same settings everytime, you'd get no benefit after the first archiving. In fact, an archive of an archive would be bigger than the archive alone, because the lookup tables generated would increase the size of the file.
It's possible to decrease the size of a RAR or a ZIP by then compressing it with 7z, but if you're gonna do that, you might as well just use 7z in the first place.
Anyway, archiving is different from the modern idea of compressing files. Kooky, what is it you want to do?

yep you are right, so kooky dont even think in compressing jpeg or mp3 because these format is already highly compressed
I'm trying to compress the TR1 Advance Installer in a 7z file. ;)
^ No way, the file is already compressed, then archived with ZIP. You can never compress this file to make it 5 times smaller :ohn:
