Susan Dolginoff spends about five hours a day playing video games - hardly abnormal for a 58-year-old woman. Dolginoff, owner of a sweets supply shop in Overland Park, Kan., isn't playing plot-heavy games such as "Tomb Raider" or "Grand Theft Auto." But she's likely to be playing solitaire or an America Online spelling game called Tumble Bees. The video game industry has discovered an audience of millions of women like Dolginoff who prefer so-called casual games - card games, puzzles and word games. The games are a chance to exercise your brain and blow off steam, Dolginoff said.

You think women tend to like the puzzle-solving games whereas men like the shot-em-up games? That makes sense because women have to manage a lot of things when they have a family.

Personally I enjoy the shoot-em ups a lot more than the puzzle solvers.

I don't know what it is about Tomb Raider, but I rarely play any other games like it.

Yeah it's true alright. Loads of women over 35 play on-line games. Hell, I've broken up four marriages since I started playing online Halo.

1st person shooters can be extremely challenging sometimes.

You can always get a walkthrough for stradegy and puzzle games, but in fighting games you have to know what your doing, and how to fight back.

I'm a 53yr old woman, and I love playing TR games, but I also like playing games such as " Law and Order " and " CSI ". i also liked the " Broken Sword " games. It keeps the brain active. I love solving mysteries and puzzles. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-3.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

Yeah, those type of games do it for me too. (never actually played Halo and don't intend to) I much prefer the puzzle element of TR to the jumping this way and that whist blasting your pistols at some grinning ape. Broken Sword kept me and my brother occupied for days back in the summer of 2002.
