View Full Version : Moving Hair?
I was looking at the screenies, and I am really wondering if they are going to allow Laras hair to move around in strands... I think that would actually be cool... Just wavin around everywere... :D I don't think hair that is "Glued" together in games is Current Gen anymore. I think they should add this in. :)
Who agrees?
Definitely :)
I've yet to see a game that properly does it, and by looking at the screens, it just looks like it's all stuck together again. Although it probably has more 'joints' on it for a fluider animation.
Don't really care. It's a pony tail and she's gonna be wet and damp for a good portion of the game (:mis: :p) so it's gonna stay bunched together. ;)
I think this is already added in, look at the screens closer... :)
*looks closer to* :pi:
I don't think it'll be possible. It uses a lot of memory...
It would be great if Lara's hair moved like that, but from the fresh screenshots it doesn't look it's going to though. No matter how it moves, hopefully it'll be somewhat naturally, and it needs to be LONGER! I can't stress that enough. To me, it looks like they just keep cutting it, and that is a really bad idea. Ponytail or braid - Keep the hair long. Her hair in Anniversary were great, it still could've been just a little longer though.
I like this tail, this hair much more.
Yes, it is truth, it seems that has the hair a little shorter.
I hope her hair would move more and in layers. Make it look more fluid and beautiful. I couldn't stand (yes, I'm picky) how her hair didn't really move in legend or anniversary and it was almost always glued together (except in cutscenes.. it was still glued but it moved).
Meh. Atleast her bangs moved in AoD
CD doesn't have to animate every strand independently, maybe two locks of hair on either side of the ponytail can fly out and back from the main lock of hair while she's running, or at least swish from side to side with the ends of the hair fanning out.

Was thinking along those lines. Would make it look much better. :tmb:
And get those damn bangs moving.

Yeah they should blow back from her forehead during wind/ jumping down from a height. I guess we've all been spoiled by HS's dynamic hair :p
From what I've seen of the screens so far, I think her ponytail will move more like how one of the DoA4 girl's hair move in-game. I'll see if I can find a screen. :D
EDIT: Here they are:

I know seemly TR2 got physics:ton: It's not alot of memory today

yea, actually, thats how it moves. if it was like that in the game, it would be very realistic. and it would be a bit more stuck together if its wet and move more straight down, but it wouldnt be a stuck blob.
i'm female, i kno how it moves :D
but it still needs to be longer!

I think it would be terrible:mad: to make each and every strand of hair simply because its strenuous work to give each very thin strand of hair so many joints and then multiply that by thousands and make it swish and act properly. I somewhat the way dead or alive acomplished it but I felt it was way to swishy and slippery when it would sway over the shoulder of the character, it behave better when the chracters were standing or only making slow or no motions at all.
But hey this is ps3 so it may be better. If anything I like the previous mentioned concept of certain sections of hair being separate. Although I believe they've already implemented that idea from looking at some of the screens.
P.S. it seemed less like a raccoon tail and more like....hair. One more thing her bangs seriously need motion(I hated legend and anniversary bangs).

I was going to talk about the womans hair in dead or alive and someone post
so
I think dead or alive hairs is so amazing!
Why dont they use the natural hair in lara in one Level?
Like she run and fall and she lost her hair thing and go to a raining lvl with a natural hair wet :tea:
I dident like the glued hair of Lara in the TR Legend Tokyo Club.
Also at the end of the TRA Game, we see how Lara jump off a cliff with that crazy Ponytail going insane.
It looks like Crystal Dynamics got Hair problem, they never can get the fluid style like in other Games and the Ponytail is like a rock when Lara is underwater.

I didn't mean EVERY stand, I'm talking like... Heavenly swore style... (beautiful) :D Every strand would rather get annoying.

LOL. Her glued hair is... A little.. gross... I think CD is probably not focusing on the hair right now, and will fix it up later...
Well that is what I am hoping for. :D

I think CD are already implementing some different layers and strands of hair in the new ponytail. Take a look at this picture:

You can already see one loose strand set in the yellow circle and if you look closer you can make out about 10 more. But anyways, I agree about the bangs moving, it bugs when when they just sit there lol.
