My printer doesn't work!

I have a HP Deskjet 640C. I have recently moved to a new apartment and I bought some old computer and a friend gave me a printer. The CD that came with the printer doesn't work so I downloaded the driver and it still doesn't work.
When I write something and I want to print it nothing happens or the page comes out blank.
Coule somebody help me, please?

Did you download the correct drivers?
Have you re-checked the model of the printer?
Have you configurd the printer?
Do you have inks?

contact the company. say that cd doesnt work. and yeah, check everything what Necromanser wrote

Assuming you have XP - Driver download link (ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/software/640-enu-xpinfu.exe).
Check cartriges at first: they may be empty or jets are dry-blocked.

Then if it's not about inks, tell us the following:
1. Printer interface you're using parallel or USB?
2. Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report.

Just wanted to be sure that you have the HP printer selected as the device to print to, and not the Microsoft Document Writer

Try installing your printer because myabe you forgot to install it in your old,new compuetr.

I'm at home right now and I'll be here for 2 weeks. My printer doesn't work where I study so when I get back there I'll do what you said and if that doesn't work I'll get back to you.
