Excellent :D

As much as I love "Batman" and "Returns", "BB" really was the movie that Batman always deserved. I feel like Chris Nolan is taking a serious approach to the characters, that wasn't quite in the other movies. Comparing Ledger's Joker to Nicholson's.....and ....well.....you see what I mean.

Joker looks awesome in the trailer.

Heath Ledger is perfect for the part, totally gonna out-perform Jack Nicholson
in the 1989 Batman.

What do you think of the fully-loaded new Batsuit? :jmp:

Heath Ledger is perfect for the part, totally gonna out-perform Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman. Out-do Nicholson's Joker? I dunno about that... that was a pretty brilliant performance, but I'll keep an open mind until it finally comes out. :D

Well, that's IMO.
Ledger has the whole deranged psychopath thing going for him.

Well, that's IMO.
Ledger has the whole deranged psychopath thing going for him.

Nicholson looks like Mary Poppins next to Heath's bleeding face....Heath may be more deranged but Nicholson was "off the wall" insane in ways that were quite "subtle" and that's what I thought made the performance brilliant. :D

Yeah, like when he fries his fellow mob boss.

Or when he expresses his artistic side in the art gallery :D

Oh and especially when he takes out his gun and kills Charlie, lol. :vlol:

Or when he shot Jack Palance umpteen times and then sits down at his desk, wipes the blood off the newspaper and says "Wait 'till they get a load of me".. and then goes "Boop, boop, boop..." then laughs! I mean.. is that off the wall or what? :vlol:

I'm still recovering from the images.

Heath's Joker looks terrifying. You know, I get more creeped out by "clowns" for some reason.. have you ever seen Poltergeist? There's a scene where the boy is in his room and he's got a clown doll... that scared the **** outta me. :vlol: So maybe there's something to the Joker and the Clown fear that isn't quite there with Ledger... I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with it. :D

Earthcane
19-12-07, 02:52
Yeah, I saw Poltergeist. Freaky stuff! :tmb:

Jack Palance deserved what he got tho :pi: :D

I'm sure Ledger'll do a fantastic job. My fave part of the trailer is when he
fires that Rocket-launcher. I mean, I'ts so obvious he's never done it
before in his life :D

I found Heath's performance (what we saw of it) to be similar to Jack's. Of course this is just a trailer, I'll wait for the movie to make up my mind. Either way, this movie looks good. :D

2008 is going to be a good year:cln:

That move looks incredible. The Joker...jesus. He never really used to scare me. I love him now! He's crazy as hell!

Speaking of Joker, they need to get Harley Quinn into the movies eventually. There's alot they could do with her.

They also need to get Catwoman in there. A GOOD catwoman, none of that Halle Berry ****.

I am so psyched for this move:jmp:

Catwoman? Well if they include her, I hope it will be as a villain.
I dont think Batman needs a love interest, in Selina Kyle. As for Rachel Dawes,
meh, she's okay for now.

Michelle Pfeiffer will be a tough act to follow, too...

They should have made a new love interest instead of reusing Rachel. It bugs me when they use different actors for the same character in the same movie franchise. As for Catwoman, she needs to be a CAT BURGLAR and a FEMME FATALE, not some crazy chick out for revenge all the time. I love that picture of Harley btw:p

Yup, Harley is one helluva cutie-pie :D

Catwoman? Hmmm. I thought the revenge angle Burton took with Max Schreck
was pretty entertaining.

Have you ever read HUSH ? It shows us the best portrayal of Catwoman,
IMO. Harley looks great in it too ;)

Earthcane
19-12-07, 03:47
^ ????

Not sure I agree. Ledger's voice is naturally a lot higher and huskier than Nicholson's.

Just compare the accent to that of his role in Brokeback Mountain.
He's excellent at adapting voice-styles and patterns to suit the mood of
the film, IMO.

http://i8.************/6khsas5.jpg

domina
19-12-07, 03:53
I actually think the huskiness is exactly what makes him sound like Nicholson. Granted, it's been a while since I've actually heard him as Joker, but having just watched About Schmidt, there is a remarkable similarity between him and the way Ledger presents some of the lines. Not saying he sounds like an exact copy, but there is a likeness that I appreciate.

Yeah, I agree. It may be a little early to say this but I do think he'll out-do Nicholson's performance. It looks like such a dark film, I can't wait to see the new interpretation of the Joker.

So far, based on what we've seen, Heath has the potential to be the best Joker to date. No one can nail the Joker voice like Mark Hamill though, keep in mind;)

Anyway, this Joker is ACTUALLY Psychotic, dangerous, delirious, genius, and scary as hell! Jack Nicholson's was good, don't get me wrong, but his was more persona, no psyche. You know what I mean?

Mark Hamill absolutely nailed the Joker in Mask of the Phantasm
and Return of the Jedi. I mean Joker. :p

His performances in movies such as these often get overlooked, which
is a shame. I know animated characters and real-life actors sit on two
completely different planes, but I'm still going to be comparing Heath
with both Nicholson and Hamill. ;)

Yeah, she us a great actress. It annoys me when you go on a site like imdb and see people hating her, calling her "ugly" when Katie Holmes was without a doubt that weakest part of the first film and is hardly an absolute stunner herself. :(

Earthcane
02-01-08, 19:08
I was just thinking about that. Does Bruce Wayne really need a
love interest this early into his crime-fighting career?

Because when Nolan was asked about having Catwoman in a future sequel,
he didn't quite write her off. Does this mean Rachel might get killed off?

People say that? That's ridiculous. It's the acting that counts, and personally I don't find anything wrong with Maggie's facial qualities either. :)

Though personally I didn't mind Katie's performance in Begins. :p *gets attacked by tomatoes*

Although it goes against every fibre of my will to say this,
(I hate the girl :D) Katie was pretty good towards the start of the movie.
For example when she confronts Crane about Victor Zazss and Joe Chill.
And when she slaps Bruce when he divulges that he intened to shoot
Chill.

But meh, Maggie's gonna be a whole lot better. :tmb:

Okay, I admit it, I'm not much of a fan anyway but she wasn't that bad in Begins. Still, there are many actresses who could doa better job in that role and Maggie is one of them. She could act Katie off the screen.

And yeah, I barely visit imdb anymore because of it. Its unbelievable that people can be so venomous about something so trivial.

I was just thinking about that. Does Bruce Wayne really need a

Probably not but it's a staple of most superhero films now. And I think there is every posibility that she'll get killed off too but I don't see why they went to the effort to recast the role if they were. They could have done it offscreen.

Earthcane
02-01-08, 19:21
I've heard that Barbara Gordon was going to be in the movie
but the idea got scrapped and the actress they had cast now plays
Gordon's wife.

Also, rumour is flying around that the Penguin is going to make a cameo,
but only as something like the Joker playing card at the end of Begins.

Oh yeah, and I'm praying for the Riddler to show up! :D

I really don't mean to offend you or anything, but George Clooney may have been a persona as Batman, but not Jack Nicholson. He was ideal! To me at least. Ledger is a mixture of Marlon Brando, Robert Smith and Beetlejuice in this film, not like Joker. I miss the smile of the psycho-freak. And why is the red lipstick spread on Ledger's chicks?(EDIT: Sorry, it's cheek)

Aaaaaahhhh.....old times.

Earthcane

And why is the red lipstick spread on Ledger's chicks?

Nolan wanted Joker to have a rash, caused by an accident during his
first run-in with the Bat. This inflamation sporeads throughout the movie
and the Joker gaudily daubs on his clown-lips to cover it up.

It's more of a physical representation of the Joker's spreading insanity.
