View Full Version : Old XBOX games on new 360
Hi all.
Sorry if this has been asked before (I'm a newbie here)
I have bought myself a brand spanking new XBOX 360 in the last few days but I have found to my dismay that some of my original XBOX games wont function on it :hea:
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic works no problem.
However, Madagascar and Gun do not!!!!!
Am I doing something wrong or is this a cunning trick from microsoft to force you to spend more money?
Welcome aboard :wve:
Only some of the XBOX games are backwards-compatible on the Xbox 360. Madagascar and Gun are on the not-backwards-compatible list, only a certain selection is. :)
Cheers Fish :)
I can live without Madagascar but I'll have to buy "Gun" again as I love that game.
Oh and of course the 360 has "Call of Juarez" so that is a must try game I think.
There's the list of games that are backward compatible: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm
Thanks.
Xmen legends wont play either :yik:
Another possible replacement to make.
Microsoft want a good hiding for this!!!!!!!!!
Its wrong that when you upgrade, your old games (or at least some of them) wont play on the new console.
I just hope that when the 360 is replaced with something else that those games all work on the new console
Thanks.

The Xbox 360 has some new updates once in a while. This means that sometimes there will be an update of that list. So more old games will be available for the 360.

I always thought you needed the hard drive, and you needed to go online, otherwise you had to request some disk from MS.

Those updates appear automatically through XB live and install on your HD. So yeah, you need them. I don't know about the disks though.
You need a HDD and a connection to Xbox Live. When you insert an original Xbox game it will ask you to update the console. There's two other mothods to getting the update. Click here (http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/backwardscompatibility.htm) to look at them. :)

Thanks for that :tmb: I am going to do the burn the disk option. I have had a 360 for ages, and never got round to doing this yet!
