Did you happen to like Hellbound too by any chance? :ton:
Yesterday was crazy :vlol: I canīt believe I actually wrote some of those things... normaly in real life people just run away when they see me so you can see I am not a very social person :p :D
Er... it was okay. :p
'Provenance' and 'Provenance' were really, really good. :D Me likey. 'Audrey Pauley'... hm. I enjoyed it, but sometimes it was really dull.
I'm really enjoying Season 9 so far. :D
Gillian Anderson has admitted that being reunited with David Duchovny for the new X-Files movie was an "emotional" experience.
The pair stayed in contact by e-mail after the sci-fi series ended in 2002 but had not met up until work started on I Want To Believe, which will premiere next month.
"We have a lot of history," said Anderson. "I spent more time with David than I have with most of my friends and some family members. It was the first time I'd seen David in ages... It's emotional."
Anderson also recalled the feeling of reviving her character Agent Scully after several years' absence.
"Those first few days at work felt unbelievably familiar and also freakishly foreign," she said.

The forthcoming X-Files movie will focus on the romantic intrigue between the two leads, according to writer and producer Frank Spotnitz.
Speaking to TV Guide about The X Files: I Want To Believe, Spotnitz revealed: "The emotional story of Mulder and Scully is really the heart of the movie
its about their love story."
David Duchovny, who reprises his role as Fox Mulder, added that "theres definitely some skin in this movie and not all of it is being flayed or ripped apart. Theres some Gillian [Anderson] skin, and some of mine".
The X-Files: I Want To Believe will be released in the UK on August 1.

So you know exactly what episodes you're going to watch! :p I'm going to watch some Season 9 episodes tonight... when I say that, I mean I'm going to watch these:
:p
Hope you enjoy them ;)
X Files - 6x21 Biogenesis, 7x01 The Sixth Extinction and 7x02 The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati
The scene with Scully standing by the fire watching stars and just talking about life on earth is so powerful. The feel of the whole mythology in these three episodes is just amazing... they managed to pull off all the right emotions and it felt so strong and more touching then ever. Just standing under the night sky thinking about things and realizing how un important we are just living under the whole universe.
Another thing that I love about X Files is that there are no heroes. M+S (and D+R) are not running around trying to save the world, theyīre just trying to find out The Truth (tm) and sometimes just happen to stimble upon important events in which theyīre just pawns or bystanders and really canīt do anything. Even when the world is collapsing the X Files are still focusing on human aspect and character drama and simply keep it real.
And that last scene in Mulderīs hallway.. oh my god I actually cried.
First the dream...
Mulder: Scully! I knew you'd come. They told me you were dead.
Scully: And you believed them? Traitor.
Mulder: What?
Scully: Deserter. Coward.
Mulder: Scully, don't... I'm dying.
Scully: You're not supposed to die, Mulder - not here.
Mulder: What do you mean?
Scully: Not in a comfortable bed with the devil outside.
Mulder: No, you don't understand. He's taking care of me.
Scully: No, Mulder, he's lulled you to sleep. He's made you trade your true mission for creature comforts.
Mulder: There was no mission. There were no aliens.
Scully: No aliens. Have you looked outside, Mulder?
Mulder: I can't. I'm... too tired.
Scully: No, Mulder, you must get up. You must get up and fight... especially you. This isn't your place. Get up, Mulder. Get up and fight the fight.
and then...
Mulder: Scully, what are you doing here? Actually, I was just getting dressed to come see you but I... I couldn't find a tie to go with my victory cap.
Scully: Mulder, no work. You have to go back to bed.
Mulder: Oh, wait. Tie goes to the runner. Scully, I, um... I was coming down... to work to tell you that Albert Hosteen is dead. He died last night in New Mexico. He'd been in a coma for two weeks. There was... no way he could have been in your apartment.
Scully: He was there - we... we prayed together. Mulder, I don't believe that. I... I don't believe it. It's impossible.
Mulder: Is it any more impossible than what you saw in Africa or what you saw in me?
Scully: I don't know what to believe any more. Mulder, I was so determined to find a cure to save you that I could deny what it was that I saw and now I don't even know... I don't know... I don't know what the truth is... I don't know who to listen to. I don't know who to trust. Diana Fowley was found murdered this morning. I never trusted her... but she helped save your life just as much as I did. She gave me that book. It was her key that led me to you. I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. I know she was your friend.
Mulder: Scully, I was like you once - I didn't know who to trust. Then I... I chose another path... another life, another fate, where I found my sister. The end of my world was unrecognisable and upside down. There was one thing that remained the same. You... were my friend, and you told me the truth. Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant... my touchstone.
Scully: And you are mine.
:).
At first I did not like some aspects of these three episodes but everything else is just mindblowing...
100/100

This scene... wow. I'm filling up now just thinking of it. Those three episode are simply stunning. But that one scene is just... so, so moving.
I watched 'Underneath' last night... hm. It was okay, nothing special. But the last minute or so with Doggett and Reyes was very touching. :)
EDIT: Clicky. (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=2780383&postcount=974) I knew I'd mentioned it somewhere!

Why is there really upbeat music playing in the scene where Reyes is reading the paper? It was really wacky and surreal... :vlol:

Yeah, it was too surreal. It had no explanation, either... it just sort of happened.

I was thinking about that scene last night! When I saw that she had no pencils, I was shouting "Look on the ceiling!" and she did! It was hilarious! :vlol: I was also imagining if Scully was talking to Doggett and Reyes in their office and a ton of pencils just start falling on her head! :vlol:

The best part is Scully doing an autopsy on a few weeks dead cat while wearing "Hmmm something smells good!" kitchen apron :D
Also have you nooticed how Annabeth Gish looks like young Sigourney Weaver... the first time I watched 8 and 9 season I was still like "she looks like someone..." but then Scary Monsters came along with that scene where thereīs something in Reyeīs stomach and I was like ZOMG thatīs Ripley?!?! :vlol:
Just look at her! Sheīs almost like her twin

I love "William"... the ending brings tears to my eyes :). The endings of "Sunshine Days" and "Release" were quite touching too.

I didn't want her to give William up! :( I loved 'Release', and I loved how 'Sunshine Days' was a comedy episode, even though it was the penultimate episode. Very brave of the writers. :tmb:

Let me guess Friday?
I watched 'The Truth'.
After this show being in my life for 4 months, I reluctantly watched the final episode last night, and I was not disappointed. Gillian and David were at their best in this episode... when Mulder and Scully kissed I was just smiling so much. These two people belong with each other, and it goes deeper than love. They're soulmates, whether you believe in that or not, but the two main actors are fantastic and they can pull it off with ease. When Gillian found out that Mulder had been sentenced to death... wow. Piece of great acting there, and no words were spoken.
Mulder gets broken out of the prison by Doggett and Skinner (helped by Kersh!), and he and Scully drive off... and who do they find? That's right... CSM. He's now a very frail shadow of his former self, but he still has that powerful presence. Too bad some helicopters come and blow him to bits, eh?
The last scene... wow. I was in tears for the last 20 minutes of the episode, because this was it. This was final... no more coming back for another season. We end with Scully knowing about 2012, and a scene which eerily mirrors the very first episode. Mulder and Scully lie on a bed together, not knowing what lies ahead, and neither do we... until 1st August. I just hope it hurries up, because I'm already feeling that sense of loss.
The X Files... when it's good, it's bloody amazing. When it's bad... it's still pretty great. ;) AN amazing journey which I will never, ever forget.
:tmb:
Wonderfully written Joe and I am glad you enjoyed the show :tmb: Itīs the one youīll never forget :tmb:
The ending scene is indeed very powerful... and their conversation is flawless. Iīve ripped it from my DVD as MP3 and listen to it once in a while :).

They've long wanted to believe...and now the truth - and a new The X-Files movie - is finally out there for the legions of fans eagerly awaiting the debut of the next feature film based on the legendary television series.
To honor these "X-Philes" (as the enthusiasts are known), Twentieth Century Fox is hosting a Fan Celebration at the world premiere screening of The X-Files: I Want to Believe on July 23 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
The studio is inviting X-Philes to gather that day in specially-built seating in front of the Hollywood landmark where they can observe the red-carpet arrivals - and participate in a special conference with the film's stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, plus writer-producer-director Chris Carter and writer-producer Frank Spotnitz. Situated on a stage in front of the theater, the four filmmakers will field questions from the fans, prior to fulfilling their more traditional duties with the press. (Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Special credentials will be distributed at 4:00 p.m. to the first 500 fans that arrive that day. The festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m.).
X-Philes around the globe will experience the gala event live, via a special internet site from which they can direct questions in real-time to the film's cast and filmmakers. This worldwide community of fans will also meet over 100 of the series' co-stars, guest stars, and behind-the-scenes personnel who have already committed to attending the Celebration.
The X-Files opens everywhere July 25. In grand The X-Files tradition, its storyline is being kept under wraps, known only to top studio brass and the project's principal actors and filmmakers. This much can be revealed: The supernatural thriller is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show's most acclaimed and beloved episodes, and takes the always-complicated relationship between Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions. Mulder continues his unshakable quest for the truth, and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably tied to Mulder's pursuits.
Gillian looking beautiful once again. :)
Wow... that poster is stunning! I saw the one where they're in the snow and there's a blood covered 'X' in front of them today, at the cinema! :jmp:

probably a pointless question, but what's the plot?
also, I read an early review that said it's good, but more of a smart thriller. and here I was hoping for a new monster-of-the-week.:(
Oh my god! The czech fans are CRAZY about the movie! Yesterday was advanced screening and everyone LOVED it! :jmp:
Donīt expect anything epic or action because itīs mainly about the characters :). Also the movie is not for anyone and deffinitely not for people who never liked X Files or those who never heard of it! If youīre X Files positive donīt think about it and just go to the nearest cinema ! :D

Thereīre three plots in one... the first involves a missing FBI agent and body parts, the second involves little boy whoīs dying and canīt be cured and the third is about Mulder and Scully and their lifes. Also the main plot of the movie is believable with supernatural undertones.

OhmyGod!! (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/a114872/pamela-anderson-nearly-cast-as-scully.html)
Um... wow.
That would have been... different.
Gillian Anderson has claimed that she is looking to put her X-Files alter ego Dana Scully behind her.
The actress, who reprises the role in the upcoming film The X-Files: I Want to Believe, told Reuters that she has consciously taken acting jobs to distance herself from the character.
She explained: "Nine years is a long time when you are doing something every single day and I didn't get into this business to play Scully. My goal was to do as wide a range of things as possible."
Anderson added that it may be impossible to shake off Scully completely.
She said: "I don't know, we'll see. I've tried pretty hard over the last few years and done a slew of different things. It's always something that's going to be the first on the list in terms of things that people refer to, and that's just the truth."
The X-Files: I Want to Believe opens in the UK on August 1.

Face it, Gillian - you'll always be known as Scully.
I saw it. I loved it. To me it was more "X Files" than the first movie.
What do you need to know?
-NO action... some chases and two car crashes and ehm... yiuīll have to see for yourself ;).
- itīs a quiet movie.
- Mulder and especially Scully are older and wiser. Donīt expect the exactly same people. Scully does not only kick ass in this movie... she kicks major ass.
- lots and lots and lots and lots of dialogues.
- The main "story" is very easy to follow and is quite bizzare (LOVED it), but in the end everything comes together and youīll see lots of palarels in the movie. Itīs smart and has depth.
- Donīt expect any monsters... this is quite beliveable story.
In the end I did not like certain things but as a whole I enjoyed the movie. I prefer it to the first one but I believe most of you wonīt. Itīs a very slow burning movie and a lot of fans will be not sure what to think about it after the first viewing. I canīt say how non-fans could possibly enjoy the movie without knowing the motivations and plenty of refferences. Kinda explains lots of negative reviews. Itīs not a perfect movie and it couldīve been much better....or much much worse. Thereīs very little supernatural goding on but I liked it that way becase some of the best episodes of X Files had nothing to do with supernatural either.
I canīt wait for DVD.
And sorry Joe no mention of Doggett or Reyes it would only confuse even more people. Thereīs a suprise character during the last 10 minutes and everybody will love how that scene mirrors the scene in FTF.
Go and see it just donīt expect movie of the year or something and know that in the end you may not like it at all.
Thanks Lucas! I'm sooo excited now! :jmp:

I am not sure if thatīs a good thing honestly. I am just depressed by the overhelming negativity surrounding this movie I canīt stand it. I feel sorry for Chris Carter and all the cast because they were obivously happy with the results and it will most propably flop hard in box office.
Wait until the end credits stop... thereīs a scene just for fans and I believe itīs a farewell.

To be honest, I'm expecting the film to flop. I don't care though, because as a fan I get to see these two amazing characters so grown up and mature... just seeing them on screen will be magical.

I feel pretty much the same way.
Although, it's been marketed very weirdly over here. Our most popular radio station has been running competitions to see the movie, and having discussions with Irish fans (and how high they would rate their fandom).....I found it really weird that the movie is being mentioned so much on the radio.
Has anyone else seen Gillian on the Jay Leno Tonight Show? :vlol: Check it out on Youtube.
Oh and the way Mulder and Scully are portrayed is very moving. They fought for so many years but lost the battle in the end. They are just two broken people who stand alone against the darkness that will come no matter how far the run.
A message from Frank Spotnintz... it kills me. It seems like everyone hates the movie.
I THANK YOU
With the movie opening domestically in just a few hours, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the many fans who have taken the time to share their stories, thoughts, and concerns with me this year.
We were given the opportunity to make a second “X-Files” feature film because of the incredible work that so many fine actors, writers, directors and crews did on the TV series over the years. But it's just as true that this movie wouldn’t and couldn’t have been made without you, the smart, funny, discriminating, romantic, opinionated, diverse, imaginative, compassionate, exasperating, exasperated and – most of all! -- incredibly loyal fans of “The X-Files.” Your love and hate, praise and scorn, affection and disgust have sustained Mulder and Scully (and us!) all these years. It's your passion that breathed life back into these characters.
Of course, there are many stories we could’ve told (and many others we would still like to tell). But for now we could only tell one, a story that came from our hearts. For that opportunity, I thank you now, and always.

I would ask for the boxset for Christmas, but I've asked for a PS3 (plus games, of course) which is already pushing it. :p
Please read...
Iīve seen the movie for a third time... and everything is much clearer.
After I saw the movie for the first time... I didnīt know what to think of it. I knew it wasnīt a bad movie and i knew I liked it. But thanks to over the top infromation embargo and 6 years of waiting my expectations just rocketed to the sky. It was just such a shock to see Scully and Mulder on screen again my brain just couldnīt procces the rest of information.
When I saw the movie for the second time I knew what to expect and sudddently loved the film. The plot is very and I mean VERY simple but welll written and thought out. I nthe end everything comes together and just does the *click*!. Thereīs little to no action and the movie has no climax for the case storyline. The real climax (after the movie drastically cuts out of ongoing action) is a scene with Mulder and Scully next to the car. The movieīs main plot is not about the case or Christian. Itīs about them and if they want to believe... in themselves, in their love and if they are able to escape the darkness surrounding them. There are palarels between all the storylines that I havenīt noticed until I saw it again.
Third time seeing the movie... I had a blast :).
Donīt let your expectations be too high and know what youīre going to see because this movie is not what it seems to be ;)
9/10 for Book About SEX by Chris Carter (just look for the books ;))
3 times?? You git! :ton:
Lmao, I know! Saying that, next week I'll probably come out of seeing the film then go and buy another ticket for it!
EDIT: Chris... Digital Spy have posted a huge spoiler right at the top of their homepage... so be warned.
I canīt help it.. "everyone" hates the movie but I just love it :(
(Funny thing is as much as I hate Roger Ebert he gave the movie 3,5 out of 5 (Actually thereīs a lot of positive revies but only this one wil have some weight with casual viewers)... heīs still slimey idiot but his positive review will hopefully steer more people into the theatres)

Gillian Anderson has to compete for screen time with her own mesmerising hair, but after a while you can settle down and let it fade into the background.
Lmao! :vlol:
Thanks!
You just have to see the movie for yourself :). Like i said with each viewing I like it more and i prefer it to the first movie. On the other hand you may hate it with passion :D.

You like IWTB more? Hm... I thought that Fight the Future transitioned to the big screen perfectly. I just can't wait to see where Mulder and Scully are 6 years on... they belong together yet they can't be together.
I prefer it as an "X Files" movie. :).

I canīt believe I didnīt noticed it before... I just saw the movie again (thereīs so many things!)... thereīs a supersoldier in the movie! Look out for a woman with red hair who poses both as an FBI agent and doctor in a hospital where Scully works! Itīs the same actress who played that nut woman in Schizogeny from season 5 !

You like IWTB more? Hm... I thought that Fight the Future transitioned to the big screen perfectly. I just can't wait to see where Mulder and Scully are 6 years on... they belong together yet they can't be together.
I liked Fight the Future. IWTB just sounds like a boring dissapointment. Little to no action or supernatural. Just sounds like a love story to me.:(

Because it is drama. Some of the best X Files episodes had nothing to do with supernatural. And most importantly itīs Mulder and Scullyīs journey itīs their story and their fight against the darkness. I Want To Believe is more "X Files" than Figh the Future even without the aliens or supernatural. It returned to grounded reality of the first season and still mantained to have bizzare story with supernatural element.
Rivendell@ this is her...

Itīs not part of the movie itīs not Mulder and Scully itīs Gillian and David waving goodybye to the fans in case this is the last time we see them. That scene is so charming and done in such obvious way you canīt possibly misinterpret that. If you see it as Mulder and Scully then theyīre waving at the helicopter you can see shadow of ;).

No itīs after the end credits... you see Ice than sea and a shadow of a helicopter, the nsome forest and it zooms up to the sea again and thereīs Mulder and Scully sitting in a boat. Mulder in red trunks and Scully in brown bikini and white shirt... the camera goes past them and up into the air whenīt itīs high above them Scully waves to the "camera" then Mulder does that too and the titles end. If you see it as M+S it really fits the tone of the movie (youīll see what I mean when you see it donīt worry) but DD said it was their goodbye to the fans:)

David Duchovny has admitted that he disagreed with Chris Carter over humour in The X-Files.
The actor, who plays Fox Mulder, revealed that he frequently discussed the matter with show creator Carter when they worked together in the 90s. They also aired their differences during filming for the new X-Files movie, I Want To Believe.
"Chris and I always battled over that," Duchovny explained. "In the series it got in more and more for both of us as we went on and did what we thought of as the funny episodes and we both enjoyed doing those because they were like vacations.
"But in terms of me coming up with stuff in the moment, usually Chris doesn't like that because he has a different theory about the tension than I do. He really feels like it lets the air out of things and he doesn't like to do that. I feel like I like to let the air out. So that's just a difference of opinion that we have."
I Want To Believe makes its UK cinema debut this week.

Suprise! Someone KNOWS what theyīre talking about!
Season Nine - Final Episode - "The Truth"
MULDER: I want to believe that the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us as part of something greater than us - greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves.
SCULLY: Then we believe the same thing.
Those were the last two lines the T.V. show left us with. Now it is six years later.
Really, how could a movie entitled, "I Want to Believe", deal with anything other than what these two characters want to believe in??? How could it not be an intellectual film that causes viewers to think about the topics presented and the philosophical questions raised. Love, Stem Cell Research, Gay Marriage, Disgraced Religious Figures, Safety vs Freedom, etc., etc., etc.
Think. This is not an easy movie. However, it is an intelligent one.
Just bought the soundtrack and itś amazing :jmp:

Well I meant what he said about the film... if you have a spare time you should read this.. but beware of SPOILERS!!!!!
SPOILERS ...
MAJOR SPOILERS!
Mulder and Scully have been living together for the past six years. As time has gone by, Scully has been going on with her life and building her career as a Doctor (Remember, she's not the one on the run. She has willingly left the FBI). Mulder has become a recluse. Probably rarely leaving the house and growing the beard to help change his appearance. However, Scully does ask him at one point, "Do you really think the FBI can't find you? I think they're just happy to have you out of their hair". Mulder acts a little loopy at the beginning and that is why Scully says she's worried about all his time in isolation. They live together, she has outside interests, he sits around all day looking for odd stories in newspapers. Mulder was finally coming back to life once he was working on an actual case and not just reading about it. Scully had had enough danger and excitement during the series; what with Mulder first being abducted, then dead and buried for three months, then magically returned to her, then Mulder goes on the run, then their son gets kidnapped, then she has to make the heartbreaking choice to give their son up, then Mulder suddenly returns and is tried and sentenced to death. You know, she liked have Mulder home and safe and waiting for her at the end of the day. Even though he was wasting his intelligence and vitality, at least she knew he was okay. Then she pushes him into doing a little something with his life (because she knew it was the right thing for him to do) but then she got scared of loosing him again. So, like a lot of scared and panicked people, she tried to put him back safely in the house by making the ultimatum "I won't be coming home". Meanwhile, Mulder was becoming Mulder again. He had interest in life and was ready to get out and live it. He sloughed off the beard partly because Scully hated it and partly because he was regaining his identity after having lain dormant for six years. He wasn't cold toward Scully later in the movie, he was silently fuming at her for trying to stifle this chance for him to truly live again. Did you notice, the entire movie looked like deepest winter. However, the final scene, with the kiss at the car, spring has arrived? The grass is showing. the sun is shining, there are leaves on the trees. Mulder and Scully are themselves again, not just shadows living in fear. Their relationship has been renewed as well. They are in it together and will go forward as equals now. Mulder promises Scully that they will never be able to keep all the darkness from their lives, however, he will take her as far from the darkness as they can go. As it turns out, they end up rowing across some beautiful tropical bay at the end of the credits. About as far from the snowbound scenes of the movie as they could get!!! They love each other, they respect each other, and despite their deep philosophical differences, they have been, and will be, together against the world no matter what!
END OF MAJOR SPOILERS
In the movie, something Paranormal is going on. Mulder instantly believes in it and Scully instantly believes it's a bunch of BS. They disagree a lot and argue in their typical, witty, intellectual way. Mulder gets his ass kicked, Scully saves him at the last second, the case is resolved. Their is no definitive evidence that anything paranormal REALLY happened. The FBI hushes everything up. Mulder is ****ed, Scully is resigned. - Oh, wait, that's EVERY X-Files!!!! If you liked the series at all, there is no reason not to enjoy the movie!!! Warning, not a single gun shot is fired and nothing blows up! So, if you need special effects to enjoy a movie, you'll be disappointed. However, if you want to see Mulder and Scully in their element, being who they are and doing what they do, you'll be really happy to see them again after all this time!!!! There is a lot to think about - Love (Mulder/Scully, Mulder/Samantha, Scully/William, Bad Guy/Dying Bad Guy, Scully/Patient, etc.) - Social Issues (Gay Marriage, Stem Cell Research, Crime and Punishment, Forgiveness, Preservation of Life/Dignity in Death, etc) - Spiritual Issues (God, ESP, Forgiveness/Salvation, External/Internal Darkness, Running Away From vs Running Towards Something, etc.). It's an intellectual film worth watching and discussing!!! And face it, Mulder and Scully are freaken wonderful to watch together!!!
Wow, wouldn't it be nice if there was a movie with cut and dried answer to give? Unfortunately, there will never be a movie that will both pose questions and give perfect answers. However, the fact that this movie poses the questions makes one think.
Stem Cell Research: I'm not sure if I agree with Scully's choices. I'm not sure I don't. The conflict she faced was realistic and the choice is relevant to today. On the one hand, she may be the one who discovers the cure for this previously incurable disease. Maybe she is brave for not giving up on the boy. On the other hand, maybe her personal feelings are getting the better of her. Maybe she is identifying this child with her son William. Maybe she feels a little guilty about giving William up and associates this with giving up on the sick boy. Maybe her motive have more to do with her than with really helping this boy survive. If this is this case, is the boy just an experiment or guinea pig? Is he being made to suffer horribly to satisfy her guilty feelings? How is this different from the suffering the kidnapped girls experienced to further the efforts of the gay man who did not want to loose his gay spouse? The girls suffered to satisfy someone else’s needs. Is Scully a hero or just a neatly packaged version of the "Monster" of the film?
Speaking of the gay couple, what about the mention of the fact that they were "married" in the state of Mass.? Massachusetts became the sixth jurisdiction in the world (after the Netherlands, Belgium, Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec) to legalize same-sex marriage. It was the first U.S. state to make same-sex marriages legal. I haven’t watched every movie made, but from what I know, this is the first movie where same sex marriage is mentioned and the gay couple plays a major role. However, their gay relationship is not the focus of the movie! It just happens to be the case. True acceptance, I feel.
Now, to be honest, I was 100% in agreement with Scully's feelings towards Father Joe!!! I hated the nasty creep. It ****ed me off when Mulder seemed to defend the jerk! However, the question is bothersome. What if God really did hear the monster's prayers? What if he had been forgiven? As I Catholic, I don't want anyone to suffer eternal damnation! However, as a human being, I have a really tough time not wanting revenge on the creep for the horrible things he did to those young boy! It's an idea I need to struggle with.
Safety vs. Freedom. Well, I believe it was the Madison papers that said, "Those who would give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither freedom nor security". Mulder was "Safe" in his house, behind his beard. However, he was getting a little Unabomber! That's why Scully was worried about him. He had to get back out there and DO SOMETHING! Even though that meant disrupting their "Happy Home". Scully had to let him go, but she was resentful of having to let him go. Parents feel this all the time! We want our kids to always be safe. However, we also want them to be strong and independent. It's always difficult to find that balance. It is usually a difficult and emotional and bumpy ride.
and the second post "Movie Review" here...
http://reflectionsonfilmandtelevision.blogspot.com/
I quoted it for you :)
Belief isn't easy to come by these days. But - despite most reviews - I still believe in The X-Files.
Perhaps the biggest problem with this new film (sub-titled I Want to Believe) arises not from the stars (or the production itself), but from ourselves, and -- specifically -- our expectations.
Based on the savage reviews proliferating on the web and in print, audiences and critics apparently desired a Wrath of Khan, when what they actually get is...The Search for Spock.
In other words, X-Files: I Want to Believe is a more intimate, cerebral adventure than it is a "big event" summer movie. There are virtually no optical special effects in this movie. I could detect no (or very little) CGI. There are few action sequences.
There is little violence of any kind, actually (I don't believe a single gun is fired...). Mulder and Scully never even carry fire-arms, as far as I can detect. And there are no explosions whatsoever.
All the fireworks, rather...are purely human; emotional. Accordingly, the climax is one that relies on the specific nuances of human interaction and relationships, not fights, chases, or gun-fire. The film's success hinges on such old--fashioned elements as atmosphere and mood. A wintry, oppressive location -- West Virginia -- is practically a supporting character here, and the build-up of real suspense is generated through effective use of solid film techniques such as cross-cutting. This is good work, beautifully photographed; it's merely out-of-step with the kind of movies being offered in our cineplexes today.
Honestly, I Want to Believe's greatest failing has nothing to do with what it is; but rather what it is not; what people apparently "wanted" to believe about the form it would take.
One of The X-Files' trademark phrases was "Resist or Serve" and I remembered that catchphrase with bemusement while I watched I Want to Believe. The new movie daringly resists formula and classification. It flouts expectation, and what I've detected so far in the criticism of the film is a total unwillingness to engage with what the movie actually is about. I suppose if a movie isn't exactly like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, or Dark Knight, well...critics don't know what to make of it.
Audiences apparently feel the same way: the film opened in fourth place this weekend and grossed a disappointing ten million dollars (roughly the same opening week haul of Serenity in 2005). Yet The X-Files I Want to Believe was made cheaply - at under thirty five million dollars. Just a bit of history: that's what it cost, or thereabouts, to make Star Trek V: The Final Frontier in 1989. Almost twenty years ago. At the very least, Carter and his team were frugal...and that fact may be a saving grace for the franchise. Which - reviews to the contrary - has a lot of life and energy left in it. It's only a "dull" or "boring" movie (as critics assert), if you choose not to engage with it.
I Want to Believe picks up six years after the finale of the popular Fox series (which ended in 2002). Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are living together in a small but comfortable house, and Mulder has grown a beard and pretty much retreated from the world. Despite the fact he knows his sister is dead, Mulder has not given up searching for "the truth" about what happened to her. Meanwhile, Scully is a successful medical doctor at a Catholic hospital and enmeshed in the treatment of a very sick little boy; one with a terminal illness.
It's a quiet, relatively "normal" life for the most part; a normality that is shattered when the FBI solicits Mulder's help in solving a new and urgent "X-File" (in return for a pardon...). An F.B.I. agent named Monica Bannon has disappeared in the snows of gloomy West Virginia, and a fallen priest named Father Joe (Billy Connolly) claims to be experiencing psychic visions related to her case. In fact, he leads a team of FBI searchers to a burial ground of body parts in a vast, foreboding ice field (a beautifully-filmed, tense sequence).
But Father Joe may not be credible...in part because of his past. He's a convicted pedophile, you see. Mulder and Scully each boast a different perspective on Father Joe (naturally...), and their viewpoints are so contradictory that these opinions threaten to fracture their (now longstanding...) emotional relationship. This case revives Mulder's obsessive, brooding nature; and it reminds Scully of the darkness she has sought to escape.
So...what is The X-Files: I Want to Believe really about? In a deep, meaningful way, it concerns the concept of redemption. I don't mean that the movie pays lip service to the notion of redemption as that concept currently exists in the superficial popular culture lexicon (see: Angel). There's nothing comfortable or easy about how this film portrays the central moral dilemma. The crimes Father Joe committed against the innocent are utterly monstrous, as Scully rightly points out. Father Joe knows that society will never forgive him, but wonders if God can do so.
And here's where things get....murky. Father Joe castrated himself at age 26 in order to "kill" the horrible, seething appetite that led him to commit such crimes. And now, Father Joe chooses to live in a group home for pedophiles, one where sex offenders live in shame and police each other's behavior. It is a sort of Hell on Earth to live amongst such scum, especially for a Man of God. Are these signs he has changed?
And, of course, Father Joe claims he is experiencing psychic visions about that missing FBI agent, and wants to help the police find her. Is he to be trusted? Would the Divine empower a man like Father Joe with second sight? If his visions are real, are they from God? The Devil? Or is he just an accomplice in Monica's capture...?
The underlying moral quandary is this: What great "right" can undo a great "wrong?" In the fantastic and noble tradition of The X-Files, Scully and Mulder view Father Joe and his predicament in radically different ways. The series always concerned the opposing viewpoints of these two characters, and how their beliefs (and biases) shaped their perception of reality. It's the same thing here. Scully believes Father Joe is a depraved attention-seeking monster, that his visions are a hoax and a cry for attention. Mulder wants to believe that men like Father Joe can change, that redemption is possible, and that Father Joe's psychic visions are legitimate.
Pretty serious stuff. No summer movie featuring a convicted pedophile in a central role is ever going to find popularity in America. That's a fact. We go to movies to escape, generally, not to engage and this may simply be one bridge too far for mass audiences. Father Joe's inclusion and role in the story is a courageous (perhaps even self-destructive) choice on the part of writers Spotnitz and Carter because the film's central dilemma makes audiences confront the idea of real redemption in a very tangible, very challenging, very realistic way.
It is easy to forgive someone who seems heroic; someone who is beautiful; or someone who had an excuse for what he did. But what about forgiving someone for committing the worst crime (a crime against a child...) imaginable? I'm not saying you should forgive; that anyone should forgive. However, if you are not willing to forgive Father Joe, there are repercussions to that decision. The biggest one is that you can't say you believe in redemption, can you? If you don't let "good works" account for something in the cosmic tally of morality, you can't claim you believe in forgiveness, either. Nor can you claim to be a Christian, because forgiveness is the very crucible -- the beating heart -- of Christianity. I'm not condoning any particular interpretation....just commenting on the moral implications of this film. It will challenge your beliefs, and force you to evaluate what you think when the decision "to forgive" is not easy; not superficial.
I still can't believe a mainstream film (and a franchise film; and a sequel, for god's sake...) tread so deeply (and bravely) into this unsettling territory, but I'm glad it did. The X-Files: I Want to Believe effectively holds a mirror up to all those who claim belief in Christ's teachings yet actually thrive on hate and draconian notions of punishment and morality. In doing so, it comments explicitly on our times; an epoch when religion is often used to codify hatred of "the other" in our society (and in other societies). This paradigm - this Father Joe Dilemma - is true to everything The X-Files has always been about.
The mystery concerning the severed body parts (and the agent's disappearance) has apparently disappointed some critics and viewers too, but it is also very true to The X-Files' history. The series has always concerned our two world-views (belief vs. skepticism/Mulder vs. Scully) vetting mysterious "horror stories" and in the process giving them new life and energy. Spontaneous combustion, demonic possession, ESP, vampires, werewolves, succubi, golems, out-of-body experiences, and other old concepts in the genre were always re-purposed for the show to incorporate the latest advances in paranormal and medical literature and study. I Want to Believe explicitly continues that tradition with a plot concerning organ transplants, stem cell research, and a cadre of outlaw (Russian...) scientists playing Frankenstein. Is it ridiculous? Well...is a man who turns into a giant green superhero when he's angry also ridiculous? Is a man with a leather fetish wearing a black bat suit ridiculous? You may find the specifics of this X-File on the verge of ludicrous (one critic compared it to They Saved Hitler's Brain), but again, the tradition of taking hoary "monster"/horror chestnuts and granting them new (intelligent...) life is a long-standing facet of Chris Carter's creation. The franchise has been around for fifteen years now; so you likely have already decided whether or not this kind of thing works for you.
There's another aspect of I Want to Believe that works surprisingly well. It too has been ridiculed by reviewers. It's a brief comment said - oddly enough - by Father Joe. He urges Scully not to "give up" at a critical point, yet - as he himself readily admits - he has no reason to have said it to her. "Don't give up" may seem like an easy platitude (gee, like "with great power comes great responsibility?"), but it is actually kind of touching here; a short-hand for much good material. Especially when played between Mulder and Scully. In Duchovny and Anderson's deft hands, "don't give up" is one lover's comment to another in the face of hardship, past hurts and regret. Scully can't give up on the boy whom she is treating now because of the little boy (William) she once gave up on. And balanced against the Mulder/Scully relationship is a man (Callum Keith Rennie) -- a villain -- who steadfastly refuses to "give up" on the life of his lover...and goes to extreme (and really, really radical...) means to see that his lover survives. One plot is played against the other, and I found the balance elegant and touching, not cheesy.
Another theme here is the "burying" or cleansing of the past. The criminals responsible for Bannon's abduction attempt to bury the past (and their crimes) in the ice. Mulder hopes to cleanse his past too (if he just saves this one woman, he will have made up for failing his sister all those years ago). Scully, by saving her patient believes she can be cleansed of her guilt over William. But along comes Father Joe - a man with a past anyone would want to hide - who instead focuses on digging up the past (digging in the ice, in the snow, literally). Things keep coming to the surface. Things that must be dealt with.
The violent scenes in this film are tense, and make surprisingly strong use of a snowplow as a weapon. The bleak locale and the hidden secrets there keeps you alert, looking for clues amidst the ubiquitous falling snow. The location reflects the dark heart of the characters, and the final moment (post-credits) is a splendid (if brief...) catharsis; a release from the blinding white snow of Somerset, WV. More emotionally touching than exciting; more moody and lugubrious than spectacular, more contemplative than action-packed, more dark and foreboding than shocking, this is an uneasy, unsettling X-Files movie in which the truth isn't "out there" but rather "in here" - in us. In the endless mysteries of the human heart and human behavior.

I just watched 'X-FIles I want to believe' yesterday. Recently being a new X-Files fan after watching the first 2 season, the movie is a great treat for me. Although that Dana is not into the X-Files investigation this time around (which makes me wanna slap her with her constant denial) she still revolve around it. :)
After 10+ years and they're still very much together, that was magical and wonderful enough for me.

As for Scullyīs behaviour... that was understandable. She doesnīt work for FBI anymore so there is no real reason for her to "investigate". She has her own problems in the movie and in the end itīs actually her who "cracks" the case so to speak. She is afraid of the darkness and most importantly of the umpcoming darkness and she wants to get as far away as possible. Unfortunately the "darkness" always finds them like the helicopter in the scene after the credits :).

Thanks, I had a great time as well. I so hope she will be with Mulder in the end but I think it ends quite nicely - leave us thinking what will happen. I think Scully succeeded with the operation and the boy survive.
Hey just realized you avatar. Very nice! :D I prefer Scully's early appearance hair though, the long ones are like curtains to me. :p
I'm finishing off S9 for my run up to Friday.
Just watched:
Jump the Shark, William, Sunshine Days and I've just started The Truth. I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow, all ready for the big day.

Does anyone else really Really like the Sunshine Days episode?

Digital Spy gives IWTB one star:
'Trust no one', urged the once-mighty show in its heyday. Well, any unsuspecting folks contemplating seeing this movie could do worse than trust those who say that The X-Files: I Want To Believe is a steaming pile of ectoplasmic gunk. That's putting it mildly.
The plot is shockingly turgid and poorly paced, revolving around the visions of a paedophile priest (Connolly) and various efforts to rescue kidnapped FBI agents from a Dr. Frankenstein-style experiment. Very little else actually happens, apart from a mind-numbing subplot featuring Scully's attempts to save a child's life via stem cell research.
Too much dramatic thrust relies on the reunion of Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson), when they would operate far better within the framework of an absorbing narrative instead of effectively being the story themselves. Both actors slip back into their roles easily enough, which cannot be said for co-writer and director Chris Carter - the man who used to crank out brilliant episodes of his show for fun in the '90s.
Bizarrely, several scenes end abruptly before they reach their dramatic conclusion and the script then wildly leaps off at a tangent, forcing the viewer to do some pointless dot-joining. Or at least those who haven't nodded off during one of Mulder and Scully's laconic drawn-out musings on faith.
The decision to make this episode a standalone entity rather than a continuation of the television show's alien-government conspiracy arc is noble enough, but only serves to ensure that the fanbase has very little to cheer alongside the snoozing casual fans. Not even a familiar face popping up during the climax can rouse the interest.
The whole affair is a real shame, as there was - and still is - plenty of scope to revive the franchise and continue the adventures of Mulder and Scully. Sadly, the discovery of a severed arm in the snow is the most exciting moment during the first hour.
The story desperately needed to be on a grander scale and contain some sense of danger or jeopardy for the world, or some eerie little green men at the very least. With a bit of scissor-wielding in the editing suite, this dismal movie could have made a mundane 45 minute episode of the show. That pretty much sums it up.
We all wanted to believe that the return of The X-Files could allow us to relive the mid-90s glory days, where we shuddered at shapeshifting aliens, hissed at the Cigarette Smoking Man and taped a big 'X' onto our windows thinking it was cool. Alas, this faith was misplaced.

The reviewer clearly doesn't get the point of the film.
I just finished The Truth. :) :(
And so ends my second X-Files marathon.
May 2006 started my first run through, and I finished that time in September 2006. I knew then "Oh I'll watch these again next year!"
The following May of 2007 I started my marathon again, taking it at a more leisurely pace - I arrived mid Season 8 at Christmas 2007, then really really slacked off. I should've finished Season 9 in January, but instead I dragged them out... a lot and now in July, or really August, I've finished them all again for the second time.
I can't wait to go through it all again. :D
Plus, roll on tomorrow! :yah: :jmp:
Haha, well done Chris! :D I'm really excited for tomorrow... just visiting Mulder and Scully again will make me jump up and start applauding! :D
Enjoy it guys and gals (is there any? :vlol:) and i really hope you like it :).
Enjoy it guys and gals (is there any? :vlol:) and i really hope you like it :).
Thanks... two reviews from The Mirror:
First reviewer gave it 3/5 stars.
The story: Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson), now a couple, are lured back to assist the FBI trying to find a missing agent... but the only person offering clues is a child-abusing psychic ex-priest named Father Joe (Connolly). Against the backdrop of a snowy landscape Mulder and Scully, several years away from their work on the FBI's X-Files, have to decide if they should follow their instincts.
As another woman is abducted the investigation takes them into the sinister territory of perverse surgery and organ harvesting.
The verdict: The X-Files are back and there isn't a little green man in sight. Yep, that's right. No aliens, spacecraft or outer-spacey whatnots of any kind at all. There is barely a conspiracy theory knocking around at all so this is a far more subtle and thoughtful edition of the X-Files. It is far closer to a standard police procedural than fans might expect, but still an intriguing and well sustained movie experience.
We get a psychic former priest (Connolly) - who was a paedophile but then engaged in a bit of self-castration - who has visions of an FBI agent being abducted.
Mulder is sought by the FBI to assist, while a more cynical Scully - now a practising doctor - tags along for the ride. Mulder desperately wants to believe (hence the film's title) and has faith in the priest's visions, while Scully takes the view the priest is simply trying to atone for his sins.
The FBI agents are equally torn - team leader Dakota Whitney (Peet) clearly respects Mulder's views while her number two Mosley Drummy (a steely-eyed Xzibit) dismisses the vision affair as nonsense.
The film may lack aliens and government conspiracies, but where it is at its strongest is dealing with the Mulder and Scully relationship. This time round their romance is all above board - and under the sheets - and at the core of the film is how their firm beliefs both draw them together and drive them apart. Action-wise the film offers relatively slim pickings. X-Files creator Chris Carter directs with a sense of style and atmosphere, but there is little to set the pulse racing.
The climactic scenes are nicely tense but apart from that there is simply a lot of philosophical debate.
Fans of the series will, I'm sure, find much to enjoy - newcomers to the phenomenon might be a bit bemused.
Final Cut: A deftly constructed paranormal thriller.

This reviewer gave the film 3/5 stars:
As the famous theme tune is whistled over the opening credits, listen carefully and you may hear the gentle chime of ringing tills as Mulder and Scully return for a pointless cash-in on the TV series.
I Want To Believe isnt a terrible film but, believe me, a deeply unnecessary one that was surely made only to pay mortgages. Unlike the last X-Files movie, 1998s Fight The Future, theres no attempt to develop the shows storyline here instead were given a glued-together two-parter whose home is surely on the shelves of Blockbuster.
This time around, Scully (Gillian Anderson) is working in a hospital when shes asked by the FBI to locate Mulder (David Duchovny) in order to help find a missing agent. Also hunting for the AWOL Fed is a priest-turned-psychic (Billy Connolly) who comes with a very dark personal history.
Set in a snowbound West Virginia, body part after body part is recovered, leading our dynamic duo to conclude a serial killer is at work but the truth is even more horrific, leading the pair to uncover a
well, a pretty unexciting organ-harvesting operation, actually.
You may have heard how the plot was kept under wraps since shooting began last year, just in case anyone gave anything away. Frankly, there are few beans worth spilling and methinks a desperate or, dare I say it, cynical 20th Century Fox was trying to create some much-needed buzz.
Unfortunately, I Want To Believe has all the buzz of a sleepy bluebottle. Enjoy it on DVD but dont even think about paying to see this in a cinema.

I didn't have time to go to the one at 11:40, so I'm going to the one showing at 14:05 instead. :D
Saw it earlier and all I can say is wow.
It opens with the first six notes of the main theme, which immediately made the hairs on my neck and arms stand up. When we get to Scully, a big grin appeared on my face. It was just... magical. Then we catch up with Mulder.
"Hello doc". :D
God... the film is fantastic. Anyone who said it hasn't got any action in it didn't watch the film, because it is full of action. Scully clearly doesn't want to believe or even be involved with anything remotely with an X File, but Mulder jumps right into the case because he has nothing else going for him. What follows is one heck of a journey with Mulder and Scully. I won't go into plot details, but Scully doubts herself, the case, Father Joe and even Mulder. All throughout the film I was just mesmerised... Mulder was his usual wise ass self, and Scully was her usual doubting self - even more so now that she's not in the FBI anymore. The X Files transitions to the big screen perfectly, as witnessed by Fight the Future. Just seeing these two absolutely brilliant characters was great.
David and Gillian stepped right into the characters again... it was like they'd never been away. Their relationship is just so magical... Mulder and Scully belong together and nothing will keep them apart - even the darkness that Scully is so scared of. Mark Snow proves that he has still got it, with his score keeping the scenes tense and suspenseful.
I hope that another final film is made, because this film just left me craving more. I stayed after the credits and saw the little scene and the little wave that Gillian and David gave was so perfect - I was expecting it to be tacky.
Overall, this film is a must-see if you are a fan of the show, and even if you're not then I think you'll enjoy this wonderful film. Chris Carter showed that you don't need a big budget and tons of gore to make a suspenseful horror film. Oh, and SKINNER!
10/10. I love Chris Carter.
I'd like to apologise if my post doesn't make sense, because I was just writing as it came into my head.
:)
Just got back, and I couldn't agree with you more, Joe!
From start to finish I was totally hooked and totally entertained. My interest never wavered once throughout what I found to be an utterly compelling plot.
Seeing the duo back together on screen (in more ways than one!) was just fantastic. Saying that though, I was very conscious throughout the film that a lot of time had passed since we last saw them. But seeing how their relationship had progressed to the point it was at was quite special.
The film itself, the direction and editing just felt so X-files'y! A great return to form after the missing years.
Great things:
Seeing them back.
Billy Connelly's performance.
Following the psychic visions.
Mulder refusing to give up at all costs.
Scully not being able to hack it, yet going out on a limb to believe.
The amount the film concentrated on the theme of faith.
The frankenstein plot!! Eeeeew, brilliant!
Funniest thing:
Mulder's fuzzy face.
"Oh that's a shame.." moment:
Not discovering what became of Scully's patient! I wanted to know!
The clip after the credits was great. I don't reckon it was a proper 'Goodbye' for a few reasons.
1. If it was meant to be a proper goodbye, then it would've featured in the film itself where everyone would witness it.
2. It can't be a goodbye, because we've not reached 2012 yet. ;)
3. It wasn't a final final goodbye, because they could easily come back from that after a short break on that island.
It was a cool scene though, okay, possibly there as a 'Happily ever after' but only if they never do any more X-Files ever again, which I don't believe will be the case.
I'm banking on something happening for 2012. It just has to.
:tmb:
Totally agree with you Chris. :D I loved it so much!
I also loved how you could see that Mulder and Scully had actually aged - it gave the characters more believability that they had been in recluse for the last six years.
EDIT: Chris - I loved the fact that you don't find out what happened to Christian (notice the name ;))... it left you to believe what you wanted to believe which in my eyes was the whole point of the film - believing and faith.
I suppose you're spot on about what you don't find out; it is fitting.
The amount of bad press surrounding the film is so disheartening, it doesn't deserve it at all. From what I've read, people are judging the film negatively because they thought it'd be something different, and because it was different from how they imagined, it wasn't good enough.

I totally agree. Reviewers (whom most of which aren't even fans of the show so it immediately doesn't appeal to them) were expecting aliens, when that isn't just what the show was about. In fact, some of the best episodes were standalone. The film isn't so bad, and it's been getting average reviews... the DS article is the worst review I've seen for it.

You really should see it. :tmb: What episode are you watching?
A couple of things I noticed whilst watching the film:
1. Chris Carter sitting in the hospital
2. When the second lady was being retrieved from her box/cage, a woman tried to coax her out. I was so certain it was the actress who played Samantha Mulder! If it was her, possibly a hint at the other Sam clones that are out there. :D
A couple of things I noticed whilst watching the film:
[Lalala you can't see these] :D
1. I noticed that, too! :D
2. Do you know when Mulder and Scully went back to the FBI office and that woman caught Mulder's eye, and they both watched each other as they walked past? Well that was the actress who played the Samantha as a little girl, and it's a picture of her which is on Mulder's door.
:D

Ah... didn't really like that episode. :p
Honestly, I enjoyed it more than the first film, because the show has ended and Mulder and Scully were back, they've changed. I can't explain it, but I got so much more out of I Want To Believe.
Thereīs dozens of little things for fans!
SPOILERS
When Mulder tries to call Scully before he is in the car crash there are names in his phone like Gillian, Frank and Rob (ie some of the people people who worked on X Files).
When Skinner holds Mulder their dialogue and camera angles are exactly the same as when Mulder holds Scully in the alien spaceship in Fight the Future. (No to mention that scene was brilliant and very touching with that music and Skinner).
Thereīs a book on the table about bees and sex written by Dori Carter next to Mulder and Scullyīs bed.
Mulderīs fish are seen in the backround :jmp:
On the walls in Mulderīs office you can see pics of The Host, Squeeze and thereīa also a photograph visible of the UFO that Mulder bought in the 1x02 episode "Deep Throat".
The building where Scullyīs hospital is in the same building that was used in the pilot episode.
There are numerous actors cameos. You noticed "both" Mulderīs sisters :).
Thatīs all I can remember right now :p
Re: Noticing the cameo of a sister - :yah:
Some great little facts there, now I really really want to see the film again!
Was anyone else suprised how gory this movie was for a PG-13? I mean right at the start you have severed arm and at the end thereīs a whole room of chooped up bodies :D.
Also i love the scene when Scully visits Father Joe that was intense :).
Regarding the rating - I wasn't surprised, but I guess only because in the UK it's a 15 (http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_info/m11267/The_Xfiles_I_Want_To_Believe/). :tmb:
The whole feel of the scenes between FJ and Scully were unbelievably well done! You could just feel exactly what she was feeling.
One scene with her leaning on the balcony outside his flat - she acted that excellently, you could really feel how tense and nervous she was in that location.

Itīs 12 over here  :D
Yeah, Gillian was great in that scene. When Father Joe answered the door and Scully had moved back... you could almost hear her thinking "Do I go in?". It was really intense!
Oh and another little reference to the show... when the killer is in the swimming pool and he puts his head up halfway in the water... that was great. :D

Andrew Kasch just called in with some early and welcome news from the X-Files: I Want to Believe press junket pertaining to the sequel's trip to home video land.
According to the powers-that-be, the film's DVD release will be a "longer, more explicit, unrated, director's cut"
And the interview with Frank where he said they want to pack the DVD as much as they can with outtakes, deleted scenes, bloopers, documentaries and more :jmp:
Ooh, cool - thanks Lucas, you great big ball of X Files knowledge! :jmp:

No problem! You wonīt miss any news while I am here! :D
I almost forgot about the George Bush scene... the only alien in this movie! :vlol:
The little boy who played Christian was great too... I felt so sorry for him. I usualy want to slap kids when I see them in the movies but he was good :D. Also the one nurse was speaking czech... I was like what the hell is a czech woman doing in the gang of russian frankenstein wannabees? :D

Yeah - I really didn't get that bit, with the overly obvious music. Was it just poking fun at suspicious goings-on, or unexplained activities?

Well Chris Carter doesnīt like Geroge Bush... thatīs the reason for the music cue. The scene itself is supposed to show how much has changed since they were working for the FBI :) Frank Spotnitz said that CC wanted... ugh I forgot! Iīll try to find that interview :)
I just watched the show. I nearly forgot how lovely Gillian Anderson is. I love redheads :tmb: :)
The show was pretty okay for me, albeit less than I expected but I like how despite the stuff going on, the bigger issue is there & pretty deep :p

Oh my. I watched the Season Two episode The Host earlier. Does this fluke "man" feature in any other episodes, because I think he's interesting. :p

Refferences to him can be seen in "The Pusher" from season 3 and in the new movie ;)

It's basically saying that George Bush is an alien... I didn't like the scene because it took me out of the film for a moment, and was a bit of a cheap laugh.

But apart from that, no. No more appearances from that creature. :D
The more reviews I read, the more it appears that the more negative reviewers are just bitter over the fact that there aren't any aliens in the film. Perhaps they've forgotten that not every X-File involved aliens?
Honest thoughts guys - do you think CC will do anything for 2012?
Everyone involved in the movie said that they WILL continue if IWTB is a succes and FOX greenlits the project(s) :).
Totally agree with you, Chris. Every bad review I've read has mentioned that there's no aliens in the film, and I'm betting that's what a lot of people were expecting.
Fingers crossed for good news then. :)
Indeed. :D I'm just waiting for the box office takings to be released online...
