Zip: Ever since the last game I've had a real run of bad luck. I nearly died three times; the brakes went on my car going out of Croft Manor, I nearly choked on a fish bone which is a really unusual thing to find in a milkshake and another time, Lara here thought I was a burglar and she nearly smothered me to death with the bed throw. See I was after getting a new hoodie and she didn't recognise me.

First of all, dictionary meaning of corpse: Obsolete. A human or animal body, whether alive or dead.
Here's the exact quote from the guidebook - "Lara climbs into the Tech Room to study security footage, but encounters a doppelganger, explaining Zip's earlier confusion. The sinister copy mirrors her every move - until, that is, it throws out an arm to shoot the nearby Alister in the chest, mortally wounding him. In the short fight that ensues, a furious Lara is comprehensively outclassed by her double, who disarms and disables her before making an abrupt departure. Lara carries Alister's corpse outside, where Zip and Winston are waiting."
So you see, it never said he "died", and if he dies, it would have most likely said so exactly.
Does it really matter if Alister died? I don't mind aslong as he doesn't say too much.

If he is alive then why didn't the guide just say "body" or omit it all together and say "Lara carries Alister outside" then? Corpses have almost always been synonymous with death, but then again this is the first time I've heard corpse refer to a still living body.

Whether or not Alistair actually dies, i'm pretty sure this is the way CD is getting rid of them. I mean, the headset isn't featured in Underworld and both Zip & Alistair are involved in the whole Croft Manor drama. CD have realized that most fans do not like them. Eric Lindstrom has even made jokes about it several times now.
I'm pretty sure it'll go something along the lines of Alistair being shot in the chest, and quits working for Lara, and of course Zip is traumatized enough by the accident to also look for work some place else.
Winston and Lara are the only ones left, just like the good old days. Now lets pretend this whole thing never happened K? k.
Poor Winston, even his fate is a Frozen Fridge. :p

Flowery wording. Rather than simply state he's dead, the writer has chosen their words to make it sound as dramatic as they could. It simply sounds better to say 'mortally wounded' than 'killing Alister' or 'Alister's dead'.

I do but to be honest I would have prefered a less glorious end. You know, something like, they're all cleaning up the destroyed Manor when a loose beam falls and cripples him but no one notices him for several hours and by the time they do he's a vegatable, then the ambulance driving him goes off a cliff.

I kinda wish they would take out Zip and Alistar. I wished we could of heard Lara say "Zip Shut Up! I am trying to drive a motercyle and shoot at the same time"
when he keeps talking during the motercyle chase in the Peru Level in Legend, I know he doesnt often but still it's hard to play the game and I have to turn down the volume.
I would love it if they would rid of Alister as well! He is very annoying!

And I also really love the slaughtering she gives Lara! It's nice to see even Lara can sometimes be beaten. The dopplehoe is swiftly becoming one of my favourite characters in Tomb Raider! Zip is still is annoying self but at least he didn't make a joke, of all the innapropriate times he could have made a joke (which he's known for doing so) he didn't.
