Do you think it will be longer and higher, like the classics? I'd like CD to change Lara's jumping action, it looks like she's swimming in the air.

I hated her jump in the old games. She jumped way too high, but I personally think it's fine how she jumps in TRL and TRA.

I LOVED Lara's jumps in the old game; they were so much fun. Lining up the really complicated ones, making sure she didn't over-jump, doing a banana in mid-air all added a little something to the game.

Her jumps now make no sense. Yes, she can do a huge jump IF, and only if, you're supposed to go that way. Otherwise, it's more of a hop. It's like they're using even her jumping skills to 'keep us on track'. Blegh.

I really hope her jumping distance & height are close to the TR1 - TR6 ones. The puny bunny hops from TRL & TRA made me sob tbh. They were so ridiculously small and glitchy (loads of frames missing when switching position). But seeing as the sprint and sprint jump are back, I have my hopes up. :)

The old jumping distances made the game challenging & immense. You didn't always know if you were able to do that jump or not. In Legend and Anniversary you always knew that you could do the jump and everything seemed so pre calculated for you. You just needed to run.. *correction* hop through the game. A pity really.

As for the monkey swing from the classics. That needs the be brought back. She looks so silly gliding towards the ledge just with one hand.

Oh and one more thing. SCREW REALISM!!

i prefer that Lara have realistic motions except for in this sra. The long leaps of faith are one of the many aspects that made her who she is. If CD or anyone from Eidos is listening i have a suggestion. For the motion capture aspect they should have the actor or actress on wires and launch them up to the same heights of the classic games. =)

Lara is an Epic Character, so she needs Epic jumps. It doesn't have to be as huge as TR1-6, just alot bigger than TRA/Legend.

If you think Lara's long jumps are ridiculous, you should go play UT2004!

I think the TRL and TRA jumps definitely need to be improved, but they were in a way better than the originals. I think they're too short and seem to be leading us to where we can and can't go. We need jumps like in TR1-TR6. Not huge, long ones that seemed unreal, but higher, longer, and more standard, ie a standard distance, but it could change depending on how long/hard you press the button.

The sprint jump is back?!!?!?!

Actually Even though in Anniversary and Legend everything was so calculated there were times in Anniversary where I wasn't sure whertehr she would make the jump specifically in Egypt. But I think with every version of the game they seem to listen slightly more to us. So at least they are listening. But as the creators of the game they have to have some vision and opinion and can't let a bunch of whiny fans control their game even if we are the consumers. CD won't EVER please everyone and thats a fact.

That would totally make my day :jmp: But it would have to be at least somewhat close to the original sprint jump, not some perverse, wimpy-but-longer hop.

I want her original jumps back, too. Well I mostly want standardized jumps, but having the same distance as in the original would also be sweet. I want Lara to launch off in a predefined, consistent parabolic curve instead of pressing jump and all of a sudden Lara is taken through a parabolic curve that is calculated on the spot...I mean, when you think about that, CD's jumps are less realistic. Not to mention how those on-the-spot calculations may lock on to a different thing than you were anticipating.

well since they use the motioncapter the jumping animations should look morerealistic and not so puny as in tra and trl, i played tra yesterday and was so frustrated about the jumps, it looks so wierd how she holds her arms and has one leg bent infront the other,who jumps like that. its more like skippety skippety hop

These new ones pale in comparison. They're so pitiful compared to what she used to be able to do. :(

I think the newer TR games are more realistic with Laras jumps. The "old" games jumps were so high and long...
I prefer TRA and TRL jumping :jmp:

even though in the older games, jumping needed much more focus, her jump was so out of the ordinary and unpredictable.
I like her new jumping style, even her rapid motion, but i just hope jumping needs more focus and not just a megnet to ledges.

To me, it seems that in the older games, jumping was a key element of the gameplay, to figure out where to jump, how far, running jump or not, etc...and now, in the recent games, jumping is just a fancy way to go forward in the game, it is much more easy to do...but it's still fun IMO.

Hi Everyone ! :) I liked the Angle of Darkness jump were Lara sprits and then takes a long "leap" lol to the other side. But of course I'd want this jump to be more realistic in Underworld.

Since they're using mo-cap this time around, I think it'll be longer but don't expect the AOD Olympic leap.

I seriously don't get why you people want her to have realistic abilities? She's a bloody game character for god's sake! The game is supposed to be entertaining, fun and immense. Legend was fun only because of the explosive combat. TRA was fun the first time because of exploring. But neither of them were that immense as the old games. Why? Her moves sucked.

Is that a joke? In the old games it used a grid system. So for example if you did a running jump you would travel a certain amount of squares and it didnt take long to figure out.

He means that when you stood at a gap and there was a ledge on the other side of it, you couldn't exactly tell the distance between you and the ledge, thus not being able to figure out if you could make the jump.

Now, there we don't have these kind of ledges, just ledges what you need and could reach without even thinking about the distance, since Lara sticks to them like fly on the fly-paper no matter what.

I also would love to see the 3 distance jumps back:

1. Jump from standing still or walking
2. Running jump (both were the same in Legend and Anniversary. Standing or running)
3. Sprint jump (which is back)

The reason I want the jump to stay the way it is because, I'm a realistic kind of guy. Also, Tomb Raider is also really unrealistic, but just keep the jump is all I have to say.

well, the tiny hops did look real....but I would love for her to do the huge sprint jump in the AOD.....I was jumping everywhere with that ability!!!:jmp:

I'd rather have:

Speaking of Lara's jump...well, I miss the backflip; I loved when, in the first games (the good old days!), we had to make Lara backflip on a slope, slide a bit,then jump to grab higher edges Lara was not able to grab otherwise. It was fun :cln:

And they need a standardised jump distance/height that makes sense. None of the pre-scripted jumps where she suddenly jumps twice as far that we're so evident in Legend/Anniversary !
