well if you wanna experience the game in its highest performance, 360 and ps3 are your options (unless you have a nice PC setup). Plus the 360 has other good games too.

Well if you're going to buy it only for TR:U, it doesn't seem such a good idea... Though if you have other games aswell in mind, then i say go for it! Imo it is a much more secure option than to buy a PC for it, since we don't know the specifications of the game

At the moment it's more economical to play games on consoles rather than PCs, especially if you want to keep up with all of the current-gen titles. There's plenty of happy XBOX 360 owners out there so I don't think you'll regret buying one :)

So does PS3....

But don't say anything about buying a new console untill we've seen something... If you are a PC gamer, wait for the system requirements to show up.. If you are a PS3 or 360 gamer, you shouldn't have any fears, because you know for a 100% that you can play the game....
Even if you are an older-gen player, you shouldn't have any fears either.. Those can play it too...

Only if you are a PC gamer, my advice would be: wait untill you've seen the system requirement... Then you can deside if you buy a 360 or not...

I would go for the PS3 though... :ton: Just kidding.. The choise it entirely up to you....

yeah, i want to buy it for other games also, cuz that would be dumb if i just bought it for TR:U, but i don't want to buy a PS3 because the limit that i want to spend on myself is about 300 $. i don't think i need to update my pc because its fairly new. but thanks anyway. i was just asking you guys because i have a PS2, so i have to buy a 360, because the details are too advanced for PS2. just to let you guys know, im only 14, so im not an old person. i know, that was random.

If your only reason to buy a new console is Underworld, then I suggest you wait awhile. More media about the game may change your opinion about it, and at the very least the console could get cheaper in the year until the game is released :)

Edit: Since you do want a 360 for other games, then I guess you have to base your decision mainly on the games you will get right now. If you think it's worth it for the other games you want, then get it now. Otherwise, wait for a price drop :)

Trust me, it's been confirmed it is comming out for PS2. As for your question, I would go with the Xbox 360 because I know it's reliable. The reason I bought mine in 2005 was to play perfect dark zero. And I now have loads of other games. Heck I was introduced to Tomb Raider Via Xbox live market place and Tomb Raider Legend. So you can't go wrong with the xbox 360. As to being 14 me too! I'm thinking about getting a Ps3 for Underworld just because I've wanted to try the thing even though it's overpriced, large and all the games that play on both look better on 360. Look at any comparison on gametrailers.com I.E Assassin's Creed and Oblivion. So if I were you.

GO for it!!

I think it would a good investment to get a 360, or a PS3 for that matter. I would wait until Undeworld actually comes out though. Or if there are other games that you would like to play then get it now! Both 360 and Ps3 would last you years of gameplay, so i would if i were you. I got a PS3 and i know its gonna do me many years of Tomb Raider satisfaction, but do what's best for you.:tmb:

I say go for it! :tmb: The PS2/Wii versions and 360/PS3/PC versions are two different games, not ports. ;) Everything you've been hearing so far is for the current-gen version, not last-gen. The last-gen versions won't be getting the same features or gameplay as the current-gen versions, so if I were you, I'd invest in a 360. :tmb:

Like someone has said, the PS2, Wii and nintendo DS versions of the game will be stripped down to allow the game to be played on those systems. If you want the full experience of TRU, than the 360 (or PS3) would be best. And since the game won't be out anytime soon, the prices may come down a bit by the time the game actually comes out :)

I agree. I got a Gamecube for the Resident Evil remake only and you know where it has been for a few years? Packed away gathering dust. So choose the console that has more games then TR on it that you enjoy. 360 is cheaper though but you could hold on a little while longer and maybe by Christmas 360 and PS3 might be reduce. I hope so as PS3 is at a ridiculous price atm. I have one but I couldn't wait for it to become cheaper.

I'm a 360 user and I've used the PS3 at my friend's place. One of the issues for the average person who's not too fussed about the details of the technology behind each consoles are the controls, personally I find the 360 controller more comfortable and user friendly, but PS people say the same for the PS.

At the end of the day, the main factor (to me) for choosing between the two (apart from the amount of money you can spare) is the game selection. I chose the 360 because in my opinion the 360 has more 'epic exclusive titles' because they need them to challenge the very well established PS. I stress that that's my opinion, not a fact. The ps3 DOES have its own exclusives as well. You're not going to get Drake's Fortune on the 360 for example (unfortunately :().

My friend who's more involved into Japanese games than I also reckons that the PS3 supports more Japanese games than the 360.

In summary, my advise would be:
1. Which controller feels more comfortable to you?
2. Do some research into which games you want to play and see which console supports them.

Personally I wouldn't buy a PS2 unless there are a lot of older ps2 games that you've always wanted to play (then now's your chance!). This is simply because the ps2 will eventually make way for the ps3, then you'd have to get another console :)

had a 360 for a couple of years!
its fun!

but i might get a ps3 because i just prefer the games that come out for playstations xbox seems to have a smaller variety of games in the sort of genre's i'd go for!

so ps3 if you want a bigger variety of games for every player!

or 360 for just a LOT of games but a limited choise of genre!

Xbox 360 is the perfect choice. Don't waste money on PS3, not yet anyway, it's very expensive. The X360 is the same, but cheaper. Avoid fanboys saying " PS3 is miles betta lolz beta graphics n everything " Because there THE SAME!

does anybody think i should buy an Xbox 360 for TRU? i know this is a stupid thread, but give me your suggestions.

oh, by the way, i just can't figure out how to paste pictures on my profile.

(This is my first actual post in this forum, although I have been lurking since details about Underworld began to emerge.)

Rachel, you've already received a lot of good advice in this thread as to how to make your decision about the 360. Decide whether there are other games you'd like to play on the system, wait to buy it until closer to Underworld's release around Christmas (since prices may drop), etc.

Also, the 360 will almost certainly be a good choice if the article titled TOMB RAIDER UNDERWORLD 'BILD SPIELE' on trchronicles.com is correct. (I'd post a link, but I don't have permission just yet.) Justin there indicates that the Xbox 360 is the base platform for development of TRU, so in that sense it at least has a sporting chance at being the best polished, least buggy of the next gen versions.

I wanted, however, to add just one other thing you may want to think about before you go out and drop $300 of your well-saved money on a 360.

Remember that the version of the 360 you can purchase for under $300 is the Arcade version. This version of the 360 has no hard drive, meaning that you cannot connect it to the XBox Live online service. Since one of the best things about the XBox is its ability to connect via Xbox Live, I'd urge you to consider spending the extra $75 it will cost you to get a full Xbox 360.

The Arcade 360 also lacks an HDMI output port and only comes with a composite connection cable. This means that if you have or purchase an HDTV and want to see TRU in all its high definition glory, you'll need to separately purchase component cables. If HD matters to you, I'd again encourage you to get the full 360 for $349. It comes with an HDMI out (in case you later decide to use that) and includes composite cables in the box.

(If you have more questions about technical stuff, you can PM me. Also, if anything I've said is mistaken, please don't hesitate to correct me. I'm working from online information rather than firsthand experience here.)

Also, in answer to your question about posting a picture in your profile... If you go to the General Chat section of the boards and look at the very top of that section, there is an announcement thread. That thread will tell you how to get an avatar and to post pictures in threads. :)

Justin there indicates that the Xbox 360 is the base platform for development of TRU, so in that sense it at least has a sporting chance at being the best polished, least buggy of the next gen versions.

they have them @ Wal-mart, and they are only 280.00. so im going to go w/ that, and add the technical stuff later, maybe. when i buy it, and if i need help, i'll PM u! thanks for the valuable info! :p

Rachel, the reason that I posted is that some of the technical stuff can be upgraded later, and some can't. You can buy a separate hard drive and add it later, but currently it costs $100 just to add the same hard drive you'd get with the full 360 system. And you may never be able to add in HDMI support (HDMI technology is what allows you to get up to a resolution of 1080p, which is true HD).

In short, if you skimp on the technology now to save $75, its possible that you'll end up without a system capability that you really want later, and that you will either have to pay a lot of money later to fix that or may have to buy an entirely new 360.

I just don't want to see you spend so much money and later be disappointed when it doesn't do everything you'd hoped it would.

I would rather advice you to upgrade your PC, instead of buying the 360, I had a new motherboard, vidcard, ram, and some other things for just €188,- and now I can play any game I have ( like... legend (NG), TRA and TimeShift ) all on the highest settings without lagging or anything :)

:tmb:

:tmb:

It all depends on what console you think you'll enjoy the most. Personally, I've already got a 360 and if I buy Underworld then it will be for the 360. :)

Personnaly, I do not like the controls on the PC in Legend, versus the controls with a console. (and also versus the controls in older TR games). I would say that the game play in a more fluid way with a controller in hands; so, either PS3 (my choice) or 360, I think it is better than an upgraded PC IMO.

I can remember just getting a PS1 to play TR2 when it came out. Obviously its the best Tomb Raider in the series, so it worked out well, and they released more after it.

If you are a console player, then sure, get an Xbox for TRU. There are plenty of other games to wet your appetite too.
