It's perhaps a long shot, but I think these DVDs might appeal to the tomb raiders:

It's essentially Ewan McGregor (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000191/) (yes, THAT Ewan McGregor) and his friend Charlie Boorman, in two trips "around the world" on motorcycles.

I've seen the first one, Long Way Round. It's absolutely amazing, it's been a long time since I've been this much impressed by a documentary. Essentially, they start in London, cross the channel, go to France, across Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, Canada and finally end their trip 3 months later in New York. On motorcycles.

En route, they interact with people, learn about the local cultures, and put everything on tape. What's impressive is the openness and friendliness of the people pretty much everywhere they went - that guy in Ukraine who invited them to spend the night at his place, or the truck drivers in Siberia who help them cross the flooding rivers, etc.
A lot of colorful local culture too - like the public bath and massage in Mongolia, where the guys doing the massage looked like sumo wrestlers. Or like the soup made of unmentionable parts :whi: :vlol: - was that in Kazahstan or Mongolia? Anyway, lots of fun.

Long Way Round is available on Amazon and Netflix and probably other places too. It looks like Long Way Down is only available on their site at this moment.
Also, the Long Way Down site has a lot of videos, but I think the DVD format provides a better experience.

I'm looking forward to purchase and watch Long Way Down.
