View Full Version : I'm getting reeeeally frustrated!

Obelisk of Khamoon - this is definitely the hardest level, IMO, so far.

I'm in the room with the slope and ledges. I've killed the mummy at the bottom and pulled the switch. I've moved the movable box to get up to the two crevices. I've grappled my way to the other side and grabbed the decorative scarab. I've collected the small medipack and shotgun ammo. I've gone to the next two crevices and pulled up and now I need to do the next wall run, but I can't do it!

I can't get enough momentum with one swing to get to the ledge above where I came from, but if I swing again, I get killed by the rotating blades!

*sigh*

Any suggestions before I start feeling like a complete failure?

Lucky dust? Darn, I'm all out (had to turn in a paper recently).. But good luck anyway :) I can feel your frustration, but just keep at it and if you're on the verge to break your console/PC, simply take a break and return some hours later.. :) and welcome to the forums!

Why, thank you Mr Bear!

I only started playing Tomb Raider really recently (I started with Legend).

What's everyone's favourite game, so far, and why?

Alright...the trick is to watch the blades carefully!
First blade: As soon as the blade starts to retract into the wall, jump, grapple, wall run and finish. When you finish the wall run and jump to the ledge, hold the jump button down to get a little bit of extra OOMPH! (Seriously, she jumps longer when you hold down the button).
Second blade: On the next one, so the same...as soon as the blade starts to sink into the wall, JUMP!
Last set (2 blades): The last jump is the trickiest, as the blades are on slightly different timers. If you only watch the blade right behind Lara, there is the chance that she'll get snagged by the blade closest to the steps (which may or may not kill her)...so watch the blade closest to the steps. When that one sinks into the wall, JUMP and wall run for it!

This section royally honked me off the first time I played. I even went so far as to make my way back down to the floor and go all the way out to the obelisk room again. I went the first path (jump into water and into the room with the slammy doors and climbed all the way up to the top again) just to get into the room at the top. What a waste of time! Just breathe deeply, and be patient. Watch the blades and you'll get this in no time. I actually really appreciate the complexity of this puzzle now!

:jmp: YOU CAN DO IT! :jmp:

two things:
first, you have to perfect your wall runs here. You'll need them to be perfect for the Great Pyramid or you'll be pulling your hair out again anyway.

the key for me on the PC version was to learn to position the camera slightly behind and below Lara, then press both up and in the direction she's moving while she runs. if you jump at the top of her run (but before she starts to slow down), you'll make the jump first time every time. see it here at about 4:45:

the other thing is not to worry too much about those last two blades. if you jump as soon as the first blade goes into the wall, the second one won't come out until you've just gone past it. it'll hit you most of the time, but not too badly, and you get a checkpoint the instant you pull up after it anyway.

Yayyyyy!!! I finished the level last night!

I found it hard to do the wall runs, but I made her jump right at her highest, and it worked!

I also hated the three closing doors, when you had to jump on top of the three poles, to pull the switch.

Onwards, to level 11, I believe!

Thanks again everyone, for all of your support!

Ps) I have to say that this is the nicest forum I've ever joined! Everyone's been so friendly and warm. :gki::jmp:

Hey - I'm sure everyone moaned how easy Legend was, and demanded Anniversary to be harder. You all got what you wished for, i'm glad you got stuck.:tmb:. The levels my favourite. :p

Glad you sorted it, :D
