I came across this via http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-11455_7-9855321-10.html?tag=more

But it does bring up some controversial topics, and some Asimov concepts (the killing robot)...

What do you think of this?

That alone shows you know nothing about computers and artificial intelligence.

Highly interesting! I would love to learn more about this. I am familiar with learning robots, but I wonder what kind of structure they implemented for them to learn about the possible consequences of their actions, and to weigh them to each other...

Well, for one thing, it would make playing Texas Hold'em a whole lot more fun. :) Plus, it would be the next step to actually playing chess with HAL9000; robots with attitudes.

Self-thinking robots aren't equipped with military capabilities yet. Try not to put too much faith into these alarmist movies. It impedes scientific progress. Beware reckless westernization and repudiation of staunch values!

Well, the choice to go to Iraq is voluntary, it's not like we have the draft back in '42.

Simple, need for more powerful/expensive multi-core CPUs :D On the other hand, enough advanced AI where one AI is able to create another AI, is quite a scary stuff besides humans have moral, AI may not have one.

Robots learn to lie....

...and robots having sex ???

MSNBC is running a report on the impending likelihood of legalized marital relations with robots. They have word from a leading researcher at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, Dr. Levy, who seems to think peeps will be getting freaky with their robots by 2012, with marriage following by 2050. One thing is for sure; Gizmodo shall be supporting the revolution all the way! Dr. Levy said:

"Once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon."
We are thinking you could probably drop the phrase "with a robot," as well as the blurb after the exclamation mark, and still have us convinced. Dr. Levy goes on to suggest that Massachusetts will be the first state to contain a robot-human sexing population. He justifies his theory by stating:
"Massachusetts is more liberal than most other jurisdictions in the United States and has been at the forefront of same-sex marriage."

And the sex robot: :vlol:

First I though the thread title was: Robots learn to die. And I was like: And what's that good for?

But I can't say that robots lear to lie is much better.:p

It's very cool and interesting but I can't see why.:p

The title should've been called: "Robots learn to deceive". But that wouldn't be any fun. You couldn't turn that into something dirty as easy. Unless you change it to "receive".

And the Robot Marriage thing. How would that be any different than painting a face on your hand, putting a veil on it and taking it to 'go see a preacher'?

ugh, great, in the future my toaster will be able to lie to me.

all the advances in technology, like computers and game consoles are great, but making robots with faces/emotions/and capabilities of lieing are making I-Robot look more and more like a future documentary. i kno it sounds paranoid, but u can't act like its completly impossible in the future.
