Do you love the game itself or is it Lara that keeps pulling you to come back? It may just be me, but the more I see Lara's personality, the more I love the character. Right now, i'm starting to think I would buy a sports or fighting game if Lara starred in it... is that bad?

Are you in love with just raiding tombs no matter who's raiding, or is it the character you love seeing?

The game. But having an emotional wreck ruining the story kinda makes me hate Lala. I did love Lara's attitude in the classics though.

Oops, I'm sorry. I didn't see any around.:p
As much as I love raiding tombs, I think I'd like doing just about anything with Lara.:mis:

I'm in love with Lara and Tomb Raider... They go hand in hand! :D If I was forced to choose, I'd side with gameplay, though.

Actually, i beleive it is Lara that makes me love this game.
There is POP, which is very similatr to TR gameplay, but i just enjoy TR more.
Lara is so awsome for a girl :p :p
but ofcourse the game also has a unique feeling that nonbe can ever acheieve, even that stupid prince :p :p

Lara is the part of the game. She doesn't exist without the game, and game doesn't exist without Lara. They are one. That question is meaningless

Would I play another game (for example, a fighting or sports game) just because it had Lara in it?

Nope.

Would I play another game that was like TR in every respect but featuring a different protagonist?

Hell yes!

I do love Lara... but she is not the be all and end all for me, wheres the game most certainly is.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
What draws me to the game is that fact that it ties together the shooting genre with the puzzle genre. The myst series was good for its puzzles, and 007 was good for it's shooting. Tomb Raider has the best of both. That's why I'm also a fan of the Zelda games.

Waiting for TR Underworld, my brother often goes:

Lara when you 're gone - I realize I'm in love
The days go on and on - and the nights just seem so long!
Even food don't taste that good - drink ain't doing what it
should...
Tomb Raider feels so wrong - Lara when you 're gone! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-0IeJMfFKg)

For me, it's both the game and Lara. At the moment I can't imagine how TR without Lara would be.

Game...

If I played TR for Lara I would ignore the franchise since Legend came out. I would never played a game just because Lara is in it. TR is atmospheric and smart game for me, Lara isnīt important.

The Game.

Although I'm torn between my eternal (and somewhat unrequited :D) love
for Lady Croft, the game itself is what I play for.

Everything about the levels- from the jaw-dropping architecture to the infuriating
traps and puzzles; from vast, eye-opening rooms to the malevolant Boss you
have to face at the end of the level, Tomb Raider has me wrapped around her finger.

Now I'm not talking the post-Legend crap that we're being fed. I'm talking
about the classics- how can we forget such awe-inpiring gameplay moments as
the battle with old Torso monster, the labyrinth of traps in Temple of Xian, the
horrors of the illusive Area 51, the myriad of pleasures to be had in Alexander's Lost
Library, and the creepy graveyard-esque thrills of Gallows Tree??

And not forgetting my ultimate TR moment- falling through a giant Sphynx into
an underground lake the depth of at least 3 Football fields.

You know the game. You know the moment.

But how well do you know Tomb Raider itself? Have you merely plundered century old
vaults ignorantly, or have you stopped to take in the splendour of these temples,
tombs and treasure rooms?

I know I have. Happy Raiding :tmb::tmb:

Both. I love the atmosphere. It would feel very different if I was playing Tomb Raider with a different character. *cough*KurtisTrent*cough* I simply fell in love with the game because of both Lara, and the adventure.

Both.
The game has many interesting things to do.
And also that i like adventures that includes nature and animals.
And Lara herself is very good made, she's beautiful to be a game figure.

EgyptianSoul
27-01-08, 15:23
I'd say both. Since I'm more into games with female leads (Lara's fault for being the first woman in a game I saw and got to play) and I love the whole adventuring/puzzle solving/supernatural element of the games itself. :D

young Lara Croft
27-01-08, 15:23
it's though question but to be honest , I love the both , but not equal , more in love with Lara than the game since it's repetitive concept

xcrushterx
27-01-08, 15:26
I really don't know, to be honest. It wouldn't really be the same game for me without Lara, just like Lara not really being Lara without TR, so both. They go together perfectly. :)

The game wouldn't be Tomb Raider without Lara. So i'd have to go with her. XD

I definitely dig Lara, but even she couldn't save a crap game, so I'd go with the game.

Both. But I agree that the game wouldn't be Tomb Raider without Lara.

Tina Croft
27-01-08, 16:45
i like the game ... and i love Lara!! :D

i wouldn't play Tomb Raider anymore, if Lara doesn't appear in it.

Legend of Lara
27-01-08, 16:47
Well, if you count Legend and Anniversary s TR games (I don't) then I HATE both! :p

But TRs 1-6? I can't decide. :) (except AoD. Lara was the saving grace!)

Seb_01225

The game, period. Lara is simply me with a big bosom. :)

then why do you complain about legend and anniversary lara?

Tyrannosaurus
27-01-08, 18:44
The game. It wouldn't matter who starred in it if the game itself wasn't any good. However, I must concede that the gameplay is so carefully tailored around Lara and her abilities, so Tomb Raider without her would be nearly impossible. But not completely.

As I've said before, I often imagine how St. Francis' Folly all the way to Tihocan's tomb might play from Pierre's point of view. Someone needs to make a mod where this is possible.

MiCkiZ88
27-01-08, 18:47
then why do you complain about legend and anniversary lara?
Simple. She ruins the game.

touchthesky
27-01-08, 18:48
Both. I mean, I don;t think I'd have continued to play the games for this many years (11) if I didn't like the character, but at the same time if the game wasn't interesting or fun, then the character herself wouldn't really make up for it..

27-01-08, 18:49

Lara is the one who made me buy anniversary after Legend. :p

Current: Tomb Raider & Lara - The new Lara is a lot easier to relate to.

27-01-08, 22:00

Lara is iconic, I love her and always will
The old gameplay was incredible for its time. I still love the game for the mechanics but after playing certain others, It might just be a case of love for Lara.

01-02-08, 11:55
In fact, I think I can't choose. I really like the game. Exploring in the tombs is just amazing and the places in these games are so mysterious and pretty. But I think, I wouldn't like TR's if you'd play with someone else, than Lara. I like her personality very much. I guess I have to say both.

For me they go together. One would not be the same without the other (dare I mention Legend?).
