This is difficult. I've watched every single Bond movie loads of times (including Never Say Never Again) and I'm stuck between Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore and Sean Connery.

EDIT: Roger Moore. It was a hard choice :p

Daniel Craig.

Connery was good, but Craig's a whole lot better :mis:

Although Casino Royale comes nowhere close to the tension of Dr. No or the
clever script of Goldfinger, it re-envisions the Bond persona as something
I've never seen before in a 007 movie.

I think if you have seen enough Bond films it comes down to a choice between Roger Moore and Sean Connery. Its hard to judge on just one film, so I'll leave my opinion on Daniel Craig until after I see Quantum of Solace. At the moment for me though- its Sean Connery.

I'd also like to add, (just my op is all), that I have seen every bond film
ever made (something I'm no longer very proud of :D ) and I'd never put
Roger as my #1. There's just something about him, after Live And Let Die
his performance became too tongue-in-cheek and suddenly Bond morphed
into something more comical.

Albeit, my fave Bond movie ever has to be A View To a Kill.
Chrisopher Walken and Grace Jones in the villain roles? :cln:

(And also the Golden Gate Bridge scene was awesome :jmp:)

I voted for Pierce Brosnan, although I like Sean Connery and Roger Moore as well. As for Craig, I don't know yet, I'll decide when I see how the next movie turns out. In Casino Royale, he didn't play a proper "Bond", but rather someone who has yet to become that legend. He did that very well, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll make of the hero we all know from the previous movies.

I think the best bond that could be now is Klive owen (sp?) he is very handsome, british and has that classy thing going on.

Pierce, shortly followed by Sean and Danial. Really REALLY disliked all the others. George Lazenby - only in one - he doesn't count! Useless actor. And Roger Moore just got so old that if he'd carried on any longer, he'd have been beating up the bad guys with a walking stick.

I thought Casino Royale was the best Bond movie, but I can't vote for Daniel Craig as being the best Bond because the formula changed a lot. All the others had the same witty, a little cheesy kind of Bond character that they finally updated to be more suitable for today's culture. I also don't think Craig is attractive or looks anything how I'd picture Bond to be (although I think someone told me that he looked more like Flemming's idea of Bond).

Anyway, my vote goes to Brosnan. I think he just has the classic Bond look and pulls off the character incredibly way.

Going to go with Daniel Craig. Simply because I'm a fan of the books and his portrayal of Bond comes closest, not in terms of appearance (none of the actors look like the Bond of the books) but the way he plays it.

Connery was swauve, and I love him as Bond, but as hard as nails as his Bond was, Craigs is harder. They're the only two that really seem like they can kill if they need two, they feel dangerous. Moore told too many jokes, and seemed like a "I'll kill you, but I'm really really sorry about it) and imo so did Brosnan (although his delivery was worse than Moore's... I'll never forgive him for "Saved by the bell"... a bad line in the first place, but not helped by the godawful delivery).

Dalton was good, people (not speaking about this forum) seem to think that because he only did two films, he sucked. He only did two films, because legal trouble stopped the films getting made, and he felt too old to continue when the rights were sorted out. Lazenby was blamed for OHMSS flopping, but it wasn't his fault.

Craig is the closest to the literary Bond, so he's my choice.

This is exactly why Connery is losing.

Older movies seem old and outdated to younger people, no matter how good they are or were. If you aren't into film as a medium but only as instant entertainment, you don't have the artist's appreciation. In my opinion.

Anyway I loved Casino Royale and DC was excellent in it, but how can I base an opinion on ONE FILM? Ridiculous against a body of work.

Gregori, It hurt me to read this:
I like Bond movies, but I think Bourne movies have eclipsed them in everyway. I read the Bourne Trilogy in real time, as they were released. The first one I read excerpted (first chapter) in a Cosmopolitan magazine while lying on a beach in like 1980, and I was hooked. (The book hadn't even hit the stores yet.) I just don't even equate the stories with Bond at all. I really like the Bourne trilogy movies, more than Bond flicks for me personally, but it goes deep, I have a history there. I rarely fall in love with fiction. When I do it's obsessive.

I only read to the first Bourne book, Bourne Identity. I'm gonna hunt down the other two.

The thing that got me about those movies was that the super fast paced action and efficient story telling.
They went more for realism. The baddies don't wait for Bourne to find a way to escape and the fight scenes are brutal and efficient. Its almost like the anti-matrix film. He also is practical and doesn't rely on gadgets and fancy technology, just his wits and the enviroment. No one-liners here either :)

In the latest TR games, they have alot of scenes that are in slow motion (like the matrix) for absolutely no reason, dragged out and horrible. I'd would like if they took more of a Bourne Movie approach to new TR games..

Pierce Brosnan IMO. I could vote for Sean Connery or Roger Moore from the older stuff but honestly, acting was so corny back in those days that compared to more modern day acting it just pales in comparison.

I voted Pierce because he had that genuine Bond look and style and the storylines of the films he played in were great. Daniel Craig looks like anything but James Bond, and more like some random generic villain. Very bad pick.
