"The sadest words are 'might have been."

I can't remember who said this, or the entire quote, but it reaches deep.

I found my Mother Theresa quotes! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Intense love does not measure; it just gives.

Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing.

Nakedness is not only for a piece of clothing; nakedness is lack of human dignity, and also that beautiful virtue of purity, and lack of that respect for each other.

Give until it hurts.

The world today is hungry not only for bread but hungry for love; hungry to be wanted, to be loved.

Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart.

We have been created to love and to be loved.

If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.

Do not allow yourselves to be disheartened by any failure as long as you have done your best.

We must make our homes centers of compassion and forgive endlessly.

If we really want to love we must learn to forgive.

"Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the three sadest are 'It might have been'".

I don't know how to move quotes out of old threads but I tried. Celli, I love this quote also. I put it in your After Wim. thread a long time ago. ;)

your going to set a quote's recodr Bella!

Here are some of my "pearls" I've laid on my students over the years. Although I came up with them myself, obviously none are new ideas!

Boredom is not an inherent quality of an object or event - it is a state of mind.

All people are fools. The biggest ones can't admit it.

Only trash litters (make a great bumper sticker).

Life is a precious gift with a limited shelf life. Open it immediately. Don't forget to say "thank you."

When you are depressed, give something, anything, to someone else. Kindness is usually best.

My very best friends know me really well because they listen.

And some basics:

We cannot be honest with others until we are honest with ourselves.

We cannot respect others until we respect ourselves.

Trust is earned.

Teaching is 90% by example. Always be the very best person you can be with children.

I could go on and on and on......that's why I'm a teacher! ;)

Thanks Bella! Maybe I should copyright that one eh?

Sometimes my students ask things like "how do you just suddenly respect yourself?" I say something like - "you do a whole bunch of really good things!" It amazes me how such simple wisdom has eluded them, and it amazes them (sometimes) how simple, and powerful, actually following up on some old-fashioned wisdom really can be...

Isabella
01-08-03, 00:47
Yes gonga you should copyright that.

Your students must really enjoy having you as their teacher. If you can come up with these they probrobly think you are most wise. ;)

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Rommie, That is a sweet quote, and very true

Kaminari, It's funny that you turned out to be Joey in the "Friends" test because your avatar is doing what looks like a Joey gesture.

He is snapping his finger with one hand and giving a sort of thumbs up with the other, Like "Heey yoe"

I'm sorry Gonga, the forum's pace has been too hectic for me -- but I shall do better next time. Tomorrow night. Err, tonight I mean. Well, you know what I mean :D

Indeed Bella! I never had that thought until you made me notice... Ratbert's motto is "optimistic and thoroughly clueless". It sounds an awful lot like Joey's take on life. I'd say this a bit disquieting ;)
