a heart transplant

some people dont know how difficult a heart transplant is
the person has at most a 45% chance at living
i have to preform one tonight
this surgery could kill him, but its his only chance in living
the man has 4 kids! hes 57 years old, and he has a wife that loves him with all her heart
i wouldnt be able to live with myself if thiswent wrong

When death comes to a certain persons door, you must accept it, theres nothing you can do. The best part is, you tried. If it doesn't work out, you must remember you tried. Everyone goes when they have to. :)

You're a heart surgeon at age 29?
Sorry if I sound rude but is it normal for people that young to be heart surgeons?

Anyways, being a surgeon is tough because regardless of what you're operating anything can go wrong. But what a surgeon should always know from day one is that you have to keep yourself emotionally distant from your patients. It's tough to have such heavy burdens on your shoulders while operating and emotions just make them worse, especially if the patient doesn't survive the surgery.

I hate to say this but you have to put aside your feelings for this man. If he lives then congratulations, you made a difference in someone's life. But if he dies, he dies. There will always be risk and it was his choice to go through it and you tried your best to help him. A person such as yourself should know it's part of the job.

Best of luck!

remember...
-you've had years of training an experience for this.
-people trust you and believe in you to help this man, and for good reason!
-you won't be performing surgery all by your lonesome (AFAIK) there will be people there to help you.

Mad props to you!!!

You have chosen a heck of career, and you are a hero for that!

:vlol:

It seems he did fine...though people are a bit sceptical, since he talked quite lightly about the results of the operation (saying it was fun when he was "reviving him" by shocking his lifeless body)...

Oh, I´ve just noticed you were already in this thread following the story :p Sorry!
