Yes, Google has enough advantage.
The only thing that can bring this, are improvements. I hope :)

Yet if Apple offered to buy Yahoo you'd say "Go Apple!"

it will not make difference at all, google still the winner and also google has youtube so their search engine is the best.

Microsoft are buying everything, I wouldn't mind afford to do that either.

Google has youtube, the best video sharing site IMO! So it's going to be quite hard to compete.

I think Google was beginning to get into areas beyond web searching such as offering online applications that MS views as a challenge to their ON-line office applications. MS actually made an offer for Yahoo last year if I remember correctly but was rejected because the management of Yahoo want to still attempt to turn things around. That Yahoo management is now gone and I think MS is going to be much more aggressive this time.

Hm, interesting. Let's see what will happen. :) And hope it's going to be good.

Can't Microsoft leave anything alone?!?!?!

Their pattern of business seems to be:

See something they haven't got and try to duplicate it or take it over.

It's like they want the world to use only Microsoft stuff.

I'm getting really annoyed with it. Sooner or later, they'll have to accept they can't have everything!

Plus, the constant whizz-bang go-faster stripes design of their newer operating systems bugs me. I don't need memory consuming special effects. I just need my computer to go. The priority for my computer is memory dedicated to hardware/software tasks. I don't need animations taking processing power from these tasks just to run the operating system.

Microsoft is greedy and never satisfied with what they have, whatís new? I say keep throwing money into making shinier, bloated, and complicated looking software I wonít upgrade to. After trying Office 2007, Vista, etc on other peopleís comoputers it seems Microsoft is becoming more ostentatious with time. I use XP and not Apple btw. lol

Bad move for microsoft,

They should keep their money and focus on the real problems.. such as the 360 and vista.

I love XP :)

Cough! Capitalism! Cough!

And off-topic, Office 2007 is ten times better than Office 2003.

What in the blazes are you talking about? Microsoft has nothing to do with that, and you can't restrict the Internet much like you can't restrict a library!

What is it that you like about the 2007 version? All it did for me was distract me with the needless graphics, made tools harder to find, and slow down my work flow.

For me it does the exact opposite. The tools are now organized into sensible categories, eliminating the use of a File menu. You can format the text in documents easier and faster. Pretty much everything is visual and kinesthetic.

Glad to see it works well for you. Though I have to agree with the negative reviews at Amazon.com. I really did try to get used to it but didnít; similar to Vista. 2003 does all that I need it to do anyway.

Would Yahoo mail and other things still be active though? Or renamed to something like Yahsoft or Microhoo?

Yay.. the world domination of Microsoft is near!

...

Obviously joking. But can't they just focus on something else than buying? I wonder what they will buy next? Their rival Sony?
I hate microcrap anyways.

dude!!!! but it's the Microsoft way.............

"if you can't beat em, buy em"

remember original Xbox??? their first mission as a manufacturer was an attempted purchase of Capcom :wve: (they obviously FAILED) :jmp:

the only way to beat M$ is having another monopoly (which is not good), or changing some laws (which is improbably).

Yahoo is easily the best web based email service. If Microsoft get it, I just hope they leave it exactly as it is and don't make it anything like their awful Hotmail.

Which is why I may jump ship if the mail and hosting are not sold off to AT&T.
