I'm just wondering how HUD will look like in TRU. (headup display, ammo amount, health etc)
Will it be absolutely new or from Legend (maybe Anniversary one). I ask because I didn't see any on a screenshots

If I remember correctly, they are trying to have minimal hud (which is good in my book). The hud really distracts and gives an arcady feeling IMHO. Of course we need to see the amount of ammo, but do we need to see what she is using?

I think a little as possible is good. And please no life meter for the enemies or bosses. Lets leave that up to the player to figure out and judge. And theres a good way of doing that. The more damage the boss takes the more noticeble it is to the player. :D

I also hated how they showed how many medipacks she had in TRA when your health got low.

Hopefully they will learn, I mean...it will be their THIRD game! Core got it right in one!

Well that doesn't make much sense... they created it so...

But anyway, I'd like it if they have little as possible. It can be a bit distracting and I think the best way to show Lara having little health is kinda like the way from Uncharted [screen going blurry and white] or maybe you can hear her heart beat, and it gets louder the closer you are to dieing.

Of course it makes sense. Core nailed the feeling of exploration in their first game. Core then get fired. When CD come into the scene you would think it would be simple to just redo everything Core did and call it your own. I mean, the rights were offically theres so they could use all the features that Core used and then call it a stand alone work of art.

To me they just butchered the game with Legend and then they feel they are entitled to praise from us by giving us BACK the feeling of isolation and exploration in TRA. Well they did to a degree, only becuase TR1 was their stimulus. And they managed to balls up a lot of the memorable moments and TO ME, I still found it more linear than TR1.

So they are now bragging about all these new features for TRU, saying Lara can now do all these new moves and the world is huge and interactive. I just feel deja vu from early legend days, and the stripped version of TRL was enough to annoy a lot of us.

Pardon my bitterness but I feel I am more than entitled to have it. I pray CD make me eat my words. I pray TRU is revolutionary, but I think it will be a nice piece of eye candy, and when the aesthetics are blown away by another game then we will see it as a piece of crap, just like we did with Legend

Yeah, but hopefully it doesn't copy Uncharted. How other way will they have no HUD...?

Ahh alright then. I see.

I also pray that Underworld wont be just another Legend. Of course I'm not a die-hard TR fan since I've only played the latest 3 but I've been reading what the older fans had to say and I'm pretty sure I know what they're talking about by now, and what they say seems really interesting and I'd love to see it.

the less of HUD is shown the merrier.

Agreed.

I hope they do away with the HUD, only bringing up what is needed, and only at certain times.

Do it like it's done in Half-Life 2.

When she switches weapons, show it, then fade away. Also, the health bar should only appear when Lara takes damage from attacks or from a high fall, and when her guns are out. Showing the ammo is fine, but don't show the image of the guns on the HUD. We can see the guns for ourselves.

Exactly what I would have said. Transient, context-sensitive HUD, please CD!

Id rather have no HUD, to me it lessens the whole experience as your constantly checking it

No HUD I hope, also no health bar for enemies, no graphical pop-ups of any kind. They are so arcade, constant reminder of "hey, this is just a game" distract us from being able to lost in the atmosphere of the game world.

I'm all for new things, but HUD is always a warning sign to me. I'm a bit iffy on the "little to none" idea on this...

No HUD. King Kong had no HUD whatsoever and it worked fine: when taking damage the screen would go black and white and blurry, if you wanted to know your ammo you'd press a button and Jack (your character) would tell you. I think this is the best way.

To put it simply: I want it as small as possible.

And as invisible as possible.
