First of all, the preview that all the journalists have seen is the same and is a part of the 4th level. The bit they've seen is a couple of hours into the level, according to the Eidos exec giving the presentation. Do you honestly think that as a first look at the game they'd show a whole level?!
Secondly, looking at the screenshots we've been given, the ledges are not obvious. Besides, obvious ledges aren't that much of a problem if they're not the only way to navigate a level (which, given the information in all of the previews, they're not, it seems). The whole world is more open-ended and you are more free to make your own path through a level.
Maybe it's just me, but I personally wish that Lara didn't have to throw anything. in my experience, I haven't dome across a game yet that has good projectile controls. I never used grenades in Legend because they never went where I wanted them too!
Now, if there is a section of the manor that will train you on this? Then maybe....but otherwise, that just seems too un-tomb raider. She seems more deliberate to me, not blow up everyhting (including potentially priceless artifacts)...

A couple of hours? Are you sure?! Because if that's right, it means the game is going to be loooooonnnnng, if each level takes that long! YAY!!!!!

That's what I read. I forget what preview it was in, I've read so many in the last few days! It was definitely one of the online ones, I think either over at CVG, IGN or eurogamer. Although it could be a different one!!

That's great! I'd love levels that took about an hour or two to complete, or even longer!:jmp::D

oopss! sorry :o it won't happen again
i think you might be speculating on the right track navin.
they would never include the whole level as the demo, i remember reading somewhere too that the preview was 1 to 2 hours of gameplay. given that the tra demo was half the lost valley, and apply this to tru, this level length could be between 2 to 4 hours long, what do you think? possible?
sticky bombs???? sounds interesting, i never used the grenades either. i wonder why CD put them in, they seem to fit in better in first-person shooter than tr

One thing that wasn't actually mentioned was that most of the puzzles in that level had already been completed before it was demoed. Lara started pretty much at some random place in the level, next to a poacher's village. The only goal in the demo was to retrieve the final puzzle piece :) So the level will be much longer than it seemed in the article.
The spiders are cool, especially the whole 'face-hugging' aspect to them. Very creepy! :D

From what i have seen of the screenshots, the ledges don't seem that obvious to me, infact they seem to blend in rather well. :)

I couldn't say it better.

I read the same article as the original poster ,and it said that there will be "free-climbing" ala AOD that uses natural surfaces, and these surfaces are much harder to spot. So I don't think we need to worry about the obvious ledges.
