Anybody here watch this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_%282004_TV_series%29) series??

I recently rented the first 2 seasons on DVD (I'll get the 3rd later this week) and kinda got into it :p Haven't seen the mini-series yet which was a bit stupid on my part, but I reckon at this stage, I've got the gist of what happened.

I'm have really conflicting feelings about this programme. I love the concept and the characters, yet I haven't fallen in love with the series......and I don't know why

The S2 finale was excellent though, and I'm really excited to see the 3rd series :D I hear the 4th will be the final series, which is a pity, because i'd hate to get really into it....and then have it end!

So anyone got anything to say? :p

Too bad Jackali has left... he loves this show!

He's been trying to make me buy the boxset which has got the mini-series and seasons 1-3, but I'm not sure about jumping into a series that I may not like. Is it worth me investing, or should I watch a couple of episodes online first?

By the way... here's the boxset I'm talking about: Clicky (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battlestar-Galactica-Complete-Seasons-Disc/dp/B000VA3IWQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1198357494&sr=8-3)

It's really cheap, too.

I found it hard to get into as well. I kept trying to relate it to the old series, but from what I could tell, the new one has pretty much nothing to do with it except for the names.

I have a question. First off, I haven't seen any episode of this show yet. But I'm aware there's a character named 'Gauis' or maybe 'Gaius'. My question is this. How do they pronounce his name?

Is it like Gay-us or Guy-us.

TIA. :)

Thats the boxset i'll get....if I decide to buy it ^_^

Definitely watch online first (or rent as I did). As I said it's kinda hard to get into :p There are some aspects of the show I think you'll love though, in terms of characterisation and plot.

Yeah, I watched a few of the old series online after I watched S1.....and they are completely different, story-telling wise. The original is definitely a produst of its time.

Guy-us.

Excellent character :D

Sorry for the bump, but I figured I'd give this one last go considering Season 4 started last night on Sky One.

Please close if you fell it's necessary Mods (Net ;))

So following on from my last post, I rented S3 and finally started to get really into it! The Season cliffhanger was AMAZING!!

I really didn't figure on Tyrol, Tigh or Anders as being 3 of the final 5 cylons....I don't really care about Tory as I fell her character hasn't been characterised well yet. I really blew me away though.

And Starbucks 'death'! Didn't see that coming either...I was really upset because she's most definitely my favourite character. And then she returned! It was like boom, boom, BOOM!

As I said....amazing!

So I was really excited for season four to start, but to be honest, I was kind of expecting a little more from "He that believeth in me", although it did have some excellent moments.

[ ]Tighs hallutionation at the beginning was very well played and somewhat unexpected.

The opening space battle was one of the best yet, visually IMO.

The scene with Roslin and Caprica was great.

The actual full-on implication of Baltar as some kind of prophet, 'healing the child', was a fresh twist. He was always kind of lucky,it was always semi-implied by Head Six but is this really the reason?

Starbucks encounter with Roslin at the end was a good cliffhanger.[/]

I not sure why I feel somewhat disappointed....perhaps it was the sheer awesomeness of the S3 finale?

So anyone got any theories on who the final Cylon model is?

Or how the series will end?

Who else wants to see No.3/ D'Anna 'unboxed'??

It's ok, the thread is relatively recent, and you're bringing relevant information. :)

This show fraking rocks! :jmp: I do feel 4 seasons is adequate for the series though. There's only so long you can drag out the cylon pursuit to wipe out humanity. ;)

Season 4 is shaping up nicely so far. :tmb:

Yea and Justin and I both love the show :ton:

I was pleased with the first couple episodes, it feels like they're starting to get back on track from season three which had too many filler episodes. I'm a bit ticked that it took almost a year for season three to be released on dvd here in the States.

:D

I agree that 4 seasons is enough, but at the same time I don't want it to end. There aren't many TV series' (especailly Sci-fi IMO) that are so intelligent in terms of plot and characterisation.

Season three had a lot more stand-alone episodes (or filler) but I think it kinda worked. It was a nice little diversion from the main story.

But at least you guys get a load of special features, while we, get nothing :(

Hopefully they'll follow this template for future Sci-Fi series. :)

I haven't heard anything lately about Caprica. This is supposed to be a spin off prequel to BSG. :tmb:

I've been itching to watch this show, and it was on Bravo 2 - the old series. Bah. The new series is only shown on Sky One, so there's no way I can watch it. And if I buy the DVDs, then I'll wait until Season 4 has aired and the whole series is released on DVD.

I think 'Caprica' is still in limbo.....producers don't know if it'll go ahead or not.

You should watch a couple of episodes online. Or even just the miniseries :D

I think there are rumors going around that they might go ahead with Caprica. Not sure since I haven't checked the BSG forums in a while. I'd say Angelus is better off watching Season one first. While I liked the miniseries, it was a bit too slow for my liking.

Although if you're aiming to buy the complete boxset when S4 finishes, the miniseries will probably be included...

Mr.Burns do you have a link to those forums?

I highly recommend it, even if you're not really into Sci-Fi...
