View Full Version : How do YOU play Tomb Raider?

I usually play like that guy from the trailer for the He*l Boy movie...."yeh, just tell me how do I kill it?"
I don't pay much attention to the overall story. But I do look for details I might need to know about later.

Mostly I like to just jump in and work thru the levels one at a time grabbing as much as I can along the way.
I assume ...AND I HOPE THIS IS A VALID ASSUMPTION...that the programmers would not let me leave a level without the necessary items to complete the next one.

But here is my question that always troubles me. Do I use my weapons as I go...OR...should I conserve them for a big showdown later in the game? Some of these bosses are pretty nasty and use up a lot of firepower.
Or if I do not have enough, will the game supply them for me later so that I can finish?

TR1 and TR2 gave you plenty of firepower to defeat the mutant and the dragon. This made me sorry that I was saving so much of my ammo when I should have been using it on the smaller baddies along the way.

But, AOD did not require any weaponry in the ending battle. I was left with a small arsenal that never was used.

You like to run trough the levels...........thats oke, but also you expect that at the end you are provided whit all the goodies :D I'm afraid not.........you realy have to do something on youre own. That's the whole clou off the game you know ;)

Simply put: Half the time I like to take it easy and just walk around exploring. The other half I run and try to complete my tasks.

I glad you understand! I hear all these people saying they finished it so soon and sometimes they have to end up playing it again for some reason. Glad you agree. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

People who explore the areas Lara is in......whenever I'm in a new level, the first thing I do is hit the look key, those people are just as curious as I am :D And they have a eye for detail........

I only use pistols, no medipacks, no flares and no cheats. I collect all items and kill all enemies. And in TRLR and TRC I have Maunual targeting on. It's all for later showdown... ;)

That's how I usually play. I run around and shoot with the little pistols because I won't run out of ammo. But it's not always much fun that way. You want to BLAST some of those creatures. But you KNOW you probably will need the big artillery for later.
Thanx

In general, I use my weapons 'wisely', that is use the smaller ones for smaller enemies, and conserve the big guns for the bosses. However, after playing TR2, TR3 and TR4 with only pistols and no meds and, mainly, after managing to beat both Puna and Willard (TR3 - South Pacific boss and Antarctica boss respectively) with my humble pistols and without using a single medipack, I somehow see this weapon business with a new perspective http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif I realised that I had underestimated the pistols in the past http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

As for the exploration part, I go for all secrets most of the times, cause I really enjoy it http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

I don't usually try to kill everything and everyone. If an enemy is giving me a hard time, I just leave http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

Ah! This is a long, sad story... Let poor Lara tell you how exactly I play - getting her killed at every opportunity (I'm pretty good at Duke Nukem, though). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

The worst thing I do is replay a problem to avoid using a med-pack.
For example, if I get caught off guard and injured, instead of using a med-pack and moving on, I play the fight over more carefully.
It's really not the way the game should be played. But sometimes I get mad at myself for being careless or playing sloppily.
