To all those just craving for more realism, since you want instant death when shot in places (ie head), bruises, realistic deaths, tiredness, limited ammo, NO hints, environmental effects, etc...

How much of you would welcome seeing Lara actually "heal" or treat whichever part of the body was wounded (If she's still alive:p)

In the heat of battle and against bosses, etc, I just dont think it will be suitable, but it would be a nice feature I reckon.

What do u guys think?

I'm content with the medpacks, but I'm not going to reject any new ways of healing (which we are likely to see)..

I could imagine that Ms Croft has developed experience in treating minor wounds, so I guess it would be somewhat realistic to have the 'resting' feature from NWN (not much of a gamer, so it probably originated somewhere else), however, I don't think I'd like it much in TR.. Doesn't seem (action/)adventure-like..

Using herbs, as I remember someone (Conway?) making a topic of a while back, could be an idea too.. But there are just so many aspects to this healing-topic and I'm too tired to actually imagining myself going about searching for herbs to heal Lara.. As I said, I'm happy with the unrealistically placed med-packs, but I'm gonna keep an open mind when we hear more on this part of Underworld :)

By the way, I'd just like to say that although I'm replying to your post, I don't consider myself 'one of those just craving for realism' :) realism is great to a certain point - I just hope CD don't take it too far (imagine encountering a mercenary and dying 2 seconds later from a shot in the upper torso) :)

I dont like one shot kills on the protagonist. It makes the game too realistic and reduces fun. Now, If i took out an m4 and got a bullseye on a merc 900 yards away, i want him to drop dead where he stands. But not for it to work the other way.

As for the herbs, i think maybe herbs you can pick up in the same way as medpacks would be cool but not to see lara bandage herself up with them, the instant heal medpacks will keep me happy.:D

There was a Preview i saw of Far Cry 2 where they said forget about Medkits when you are injured, you must heal yourself. In otherwords, take a tweeser and pull out the piece of wood, no matter if 10 bullets just razed through you. Yea that was on the Video.

I like realistic, but that video was a little bit to realistic for me.

I think there should be some sort of survival factor. She would need to wrap bandage around injured areas and such, but she would not do it during gameplay and in the heat of the battle. She could still take some medipacks or maybe something else that will kill the pain, and be able to fight a bit longer. But in order to heal completely, she would need to cure herself in a survival menu similar to MGS3.

The medipacks the the whole health bar are a bit too arcady IMO.

They would have to reduce the number of enemies or make the battles a bit more like Drake's Fortune where there are hiding places and vantage points everywhere so you can hide and heal. I think I prefer the current system. It would get boring to have to shoot-hide-heal all the time and make the battles tedious rather than exciting.

i guess....whatever it is, it has to make sense & not be annoying.

you can do that in Metal Gear solid..uhhh(forgot which one), but it switches to an inventory like menu with snakes full body in it, select what you want to use, and it goes tward an injury!!:D

that would be cool for TR, but its copying. if it could be original-in some way-im all for it!

I just want medipacks. Good old medipacks. :/

I would rather not have her healing herself.
IT would be too easy.
The main thing in TRI was that you could die of not having enough med packs.
Do not take this factor away.

Yeah, cool, and also, wouldn't it be great if Lara just played the whole adventure herself while we sat back and watched? :tmb:

I actually would like that?!!
Is it known or there will be a replay action button which allows you to see what you have previously done???

I agree. Medipacks were a pretty big part of the game. It forced you to look for them, adding more exploration. So taking it away would be taking a big part of the game with it.
But I'm not too fussed about what form they come in tbh. Something new would be nice, like herbs as people have said. Maybe it would make it blend in with other plants, making them harder to find. Exploration again:)

Maybe Lara should have more health, that slowly regenerates. I mean slowly, not that horrible 'rapid healing' thing that most games go for.

Once Lara's health reaches zero, she could just die :p

The medpacks are just fine, but new healing techniques would be cool, however I don't want anything that would become a hassle to the point I'd rather die in-game than heal myself :D

What's wrong with the good ol' fashioned medi packs? I love those. Think they've worked pretty well in the other games. Aside from Legend's stupid idea you can only carry 3 at a time. That bugged me.

I mean, it'd be neat if this was implimented right and she could put bandages on herself, as long as it's not something you have to stop and do after every little injury.

The way I play, she's be running around bandaged up like a friggin' mummy. XD

Maybe you didnt understand my original point. I'm not against medipacks. i'm just curious about "instant" health recovery and what you think of it;)

how about she has an unlimited number of pain killers in her bag? ;]

I understand well what you meant:)
I just said what I think.
A self healing factor would decrease the need of healthitems such as medpacks.
This game is going to be about survival. I hardly find it difficult to survive with a self healing function.
To be honest because of the checkpoints in TRL and TRA I never, and I repeat never had to use any medpack:)
NEVER!! :D
(actually that is because I did not know how to use them but whatever)

What I a saying is that I am against the healing recovery function in TRU if there is going to be one.
Also I don't want to drink water to recover like in POP games etc.
And I don't wish to use herbs like in Resident evil games.
TombRaider is the first game that introduced med packs like these.
Not even Duke nukem had this (I think):D
I repeat, it is stupid to remove this and please fix the checkpoint bug which causes her to be running around with full health again:)

I think it would be too costly in terms of CPU/3D + development time.
Maybe in one or two generations of PC/consoles...
