View Full Version : Question about PS3..
I have a really important question about the PS3. Is it true that they can only be played using HD televisions??? My friend told me this the other day and that no other tv would work...so..is it true?
Moving to the video games forum. Someone with a PS3 will answer your question soon.
No it is not true. You can play the Playstation 3 on a standard TV but a lot of people say it is better to play on a HD to get the full experience:tmb: When changing the Televisions however the display settings need to be changed, all of the directions are in the manual, that's probably why your friend says it doesn't work:)

Nope. Obviously you'll need an HD TV to get the best out of it and to be able to use the Hi-Def and BluRay side of things that the PS3 offers, but it will still work perfectly fine with standard definition TVs too :)
Whew! what a relief. Thanks for your help! Now im definitely going to buy a PS3!:D
If you do get a HD tv, theres one thing to be wary of - the graphical difference between 720 and 1080 is negligible. My tv supports 1080i and not p (which gives an even better picture)
On COD4 (1080i) the graphics are not as good as Drakes Fortune (720)
thats cos 1080i (interlaced) pictures are rubbish. 576p, 720p, 1080p (progressive) pictures are the best for computer games and action films and sport games. so even if a games offer 1080i graphics, set the ps3 to 720p for a better picture!

You can play the PS3 on standard TVs, the same applies to Xbox 360 Elite.
